don't forget in the states they show the month & day the other way around so it will be 03/03/03 there not 03/03/03

Today the city where I was born conmemorates la "Cincomarzada" (liberally translated as the "Fifthmarchdo"). On that day in 1838 the Carlist army (pro-absolutists, pro inquisition, a kind of Talliban avant la letre) occupied Zaragoza but the people of the traditionally liberal (in the Spanish-European sense of the word) Zaragoza revolted and throw them out overnight. Since them it is celebrated by people going out for a picnic.

Well Hibster it was a very minor thing, having kicked Napoleon's ass 30 years earlier this was piece of piss, really. Also there is always a good reason to go out for a picnic with weather so lovely as we had yesterday.
