eye sight and what you wear

i've got glasses and i've never tried contacts cuz they look scary and a pain in the ass.

i attempted contacts. got them in alright, but it literally took me two hours to get them out. by the end of me scraping my eyes, i was horribly frustrated and my eyes were red for a couple days after.grrr. plus, glasses are where its at.

When I first got contacts the summer before my sophomore year, it took me 10 SEPARATE VISITS to the eye place for me to successfully put them IN my eyes. Taking them out was never really an issue, and I loved them...

But since last Christmas, somehow I wore my contacts so long that my eyes became allergic to them somehow :( I'm sure I look ok in glasses (as I've been told), but I just feel more confident in contacts Maybe I'll syphon some of my Car Savings Fund to get some new ones.

But hey, if Barney can makes glasses cool, I'll stick it out w/ the old Coke bottles

Edit: My eyesight is a few clicks above legally blind. Go me!

I've had specs since I was 7 and went through a phase when I was a teenager that I resented them greatly. After many years of suffering with lenses I finally gave up, and decided that specs weren't that bad after all.

Wonder if Barney has been wearing lenses all these years?

You need a choice for both glasses & contacts.

20/400 without correction. Contacts when out and about, glasses for home and when I'm too lazy to put the contacts in.

I'm as blind as a bat, -8 in my left eye which I'm sure is some kind of record.

Tried contacts for a while and yes, they are scary and a pain in the ass! Managed to source these ultra thin Japanese plastic lenses for my glasses a couple of years ago which are as expensive as f**k but don't make me look like I'm wearing swimming goggles.

Currently sporting a pair of black framed Lacoste specs which are described in Optical Express as "the creative/arty look". I'm neither but the they do look cool.

Years of staring at computer screens waiting for downloads of Bea Arthur nude pics has reduced me to near-total blindness :\puke:

Nah, I wear specs, have since I was 12-13. Early on, I tried to hide the fact I had to wear them by sitting very close to the front of the classroom, and only wearing the glasses when the lights were turned out for note-taking off the overhead projector. Pretty sly, huh? (actually it was quite stupid and probably helped retard my eyesight all that much more)

Never tried contacts, I've heard horror stories about the little buggers and my reputation for clumsiness would probably be amplified if I were to accidentially poke an eye out trying to put one in.

Didn't know that it was possible to wear glasses and contacts. Eyes needed to adjust or something I was told long time ago. Wearing contacts now but am thinking of going back to glasses because of unknown long-time effects. The combo may also be an option.

It's always been pretty easy for me to switch between the two. Glasses are probably better in the long run because your eyes aren't deprived of oxygen. I don't wear the ext'd wear contacts becuase of that.

Started wearing glasses after high school, and my eyes haven't deteroriated very much since. (I'm a bit near sighted).

Mine are small oval wire-rimmed, for that scholarly look. Downside to having specs, though, is that they tend to get jostled about when in a mosh-pit situation (I'll never forget getting kicked in the head and having my frames bent by a wayward stage diver at a Husker Du show, with my back to the stage). Thought about getting contacts after that, but I never did, I just soldiered on, and never put myself in a situation like that again.

All I can wear are extended contacts because of my prescription. It forces you to really take care of them when they're $95 a piece(!) to replace and you have to stretch them out for the entire year.

My glasses are better than any pair I've had, metal and very thin, oval shaped lenses (albeit the right one is about a 1/3" thick at certain places

Forgot about mosh pits, nothing takes the fun out of intense front-stage action faster than worrying about your glasses

I wear contact lenses that you don't have to clean, they just sit in a tub and clean themselves. It takes literaly 2 minutes to put them in my eyes and about 10 seconds to take them out. After having them in for a few minutes i can't feel them at all and they last about 15 hours before they need taking out. Best thing i ever did was ditching the face furniture and getting contacts.

I am slightly hypermetropic (does that word exists? Anyway it's the opposite of being short sighted but that's not being far sighted, it's not quite the opposite but the mirror reflection of being short sighted more like, another misallignement of the cornea or something).

I have to wear glasses to read or study for long periods of time but I only wear them at home. I can't stand contacts because I could not stand having to touch my eye with my finger....

I've checked the word and it seems that hypermetropy does exist and that I am actually far-sighted, which is nice...

20/10 better than perfect

i trade my tinnitus for less than perfect vision tho

i had perfect vision until i was around 12 or so and then i developed progeria or something and seemingly aged 50 years or so in a few months. i am now a mole.

i tried contacts (both hard [eeeuuuhhh] and soft) but no matter what kind i tried i would have been more comfortable putting shards of glass in my eyes.

i now wear dark-framed, ovalish bifocals of the intellectual/artsy type. i rather like them (as they make me look intellectual and mysteriously artsy rather than like a dork--i hope) although i need new lenses desperately as mine are badly scratched and i'm constantly focusing on the annoying blurry marks sitting a few inches in front of my corneas. i was under the mistaken belief that 'scratch-resistant' meant 'scratch-resistant'. silly me.

We should hook up next time your over and share stories about trying to flag down trucks instead of buses and walking past family members in the street! Was without glasses for a week about 2 years ago and I literally couldn't function.

I have astigmatism in my right eye but it's so little that at first the doctor refused to give me a prescription for glasses! I had to beg because I knew I needed them... I was getting headaches every day in music class reading the sheet music. I don't wear them much anymore for anything because I don't take music anymore but sometimes I need them for reading books or copying notes off the board.

Yes, laser surgery. Really expensive, but really great. It's in the normal life the same as Technique or LowLife in music (perfec)

I wear glasses, and I had to for reading since I was 13, but now I wear then full time. I did try contacts once, before my junior year in high school, and, in the doctor's office, I managed to get them in, but at home, I couldn't get them out. After 4 hours, My mom had to take me back to the doctor's to get the darned things off my eyes. Of course, it probably didn't help that we drove through new jersey in 90 degree heat in a car with no AC for 2 hours, I don't remember why we did that, before coming home. Glasses may be a pain to wear, but at least I can put them on and take them off without problems.

I have 20/30 vision on the football pitch, 18/30 vision when on the pull (or at least used to), and never see a thing when a decision goes our way.

i only see clearly when the rain is gone. then i can see all the obstacles in my way.

Normal vision = 20/20 (for now, but I think NOO might change that!)

As regards football: red tinted specs. As regards music: see above (in the context of being Manc music, anyway).

I'm blind as a bat, especially in the left eye. Do i have glasses to correct this problem? No. Need to save up some serious money to get the best glasses money can buy. This will take forever. Perhaps i can ask my parents for help.

I have a -2.0 in each eye, and have been pretty much the same since I was 15....and I bounce back and forth between contacts and glasses....my eyes are usually too blood shot to put in my contacts these days...and from alergies not drinking , but the Texas sun is too bright sometimes to not put in the contacts and wear very dark sunglasses

One weak eye, one strong one. Had contacts for a few weeks but ditched them and got glasses some time later. The illustrious Mr. Depp models my style:

Had my eyes checked last saturday and found out I needed bifocals!!!! He was doing the test...1, 2, yes, no, etc, and then he flipped to one screen and said top or bottom...I was SHOCKED! it was SO CLEAR...it was the bifocal screen!!! Who knows how long I've needed them...

Anywho...got them today and this girl is ONE HAPPY CAMPER!!!! They're technically trifocals because they are no-line bifocals...I am SO HAPPY!!!!!!!
