hey, no one's mentioned the death of every american child's favourite neighbour, mr. rogers!

he's changed into his sweater and slippers for the last time, fed the fish, and boarded the trolley for the ride to that great big land of make-believe in the sky....

he won't be back when the day is new, and he won't have more ideas for you. he won't have things you'll like to talk about, we miss you.

I didn't remember specifically what his shows were about, just the theme music, that cute little model town, the way he'd change and sing at the same time, and that trolley! I'll miss you, Mr. R

At least up there a man named Ian will show you a thing or two about a band called Joy Division.

He's one of those people you never thought would pass away, really. It just seems like he's always there.

I will always thank him for helping to inspire Eddie Muprhy's "ghetto-ized" Mr. Rogers skits on SNL.

'mr. rogers neighborhood' was a show that any american under the age of about 40 grew up on, along with 'sesame street' and 'the electric company' (the latter for those of us over 25).

put it this way: i was reminiscing with an american friend about mr. rogers once and one of our english mates commented, 'sounds like the magic roundabout, only with lots of acid.' see for yourself: http://pbskids.org/rogers

interesting fact: the actor michael keaton got his start in showbiz operating the trolley on mr. rogers!

and, yes, eddie murphy's SNL 'mr. robinson's neighborhood' was fantastic!

But inquiring minds wanna know about Mr. Peppermint, from the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. I mean, after all this fellow is the father of this upstanding young man .

Did you ever watch that show, Jeff? BTW, that's Gibby of the Butthole Surfers, for those who don't know.

yes...I saw many episodes of Mr. Peppermint and his friend Muffin the bear...

when I first discovered that he was related to Gibby I could not believe it!!!

and I met Mr. Peppermint once...he was a twat!!!

Sorry bout that, but seeing as how this Mr. Peppermint is also the host of a children's show, the, ahem, interesting diversion deserved a mention. It's either that, or from the effects of having seen the Buttholes live way too many times. (hey, at least I didn't post the photo of the topless female go-go dancer they used to have  )
