Dream job?

Sure, most of us are stuck in boring 9-to-5 crappy jobs that we need to pay the rent/car payments/alimony/Mafia, but we all have one or two dream occupations that we'd all like to pursue (unless, of course you already HAVE your dream job, in which case cheers for you :thumb: ).

Mine are (besides being a roadie for NO) either a musican of some sort ( :guitar: , :bass: , :drummer: or even :singer: ) or a writer :computer2:

As far as writing, I would love to be in a comedy group ala Monty Python or KITH (I can't tell an actual joke to save my life), something where I would have an excuse to indulge in my fetish for women's clothing......erm, I mean show off my creative and funny side :nervous:

How about you all?

Dream job?

At least I had the previledge of converting my hobby into my day job, and being quite well paid for it (even though 2002 has its share of problems)

My dream job would only apply if I were already rich I guess, I'd create my own thing from scratch, do it my way, without any pressure of getting cash in return.

I would probably do it if I would still be single, but unfortunatly I was addicted to a specific drug called credit and another called girlfriend, and now I have do make sure everything floats correctly instead of being careless about it!

I must say, I don't truly like what I do right now probably because I don't any any power over it, I like to create stuff and have feedback about it, probably why NewOrderOnline is still around, without anybody on this system, I wouldn't take as much time as I do to do it.

But as I said, unless you are sure of what you want to do, and you are debt free and can survive on a large pay cut for the 1st year or two, those things will remain dreams! I once was happy about the way things were going until I lost that job and had to find the first job available, it's always difficult to start over...!

Well, I'm sorry to bore you with those, I have a good job and I'm working in something that I like, but I'm just not the type to work 9 to 5 5 days a week, I hate that, and beside, there is the eternal thing of thinking that I'm working for something more or less useless in life :D

Dreams are what keeps us alive, isn't it? ;) Unfortunatly, can't make a living out of this website, so I'll keep my day job ;)

maybe we should start our own foreign affairs magazine, you and i. screw the economist or FT! (although they are both extraordinary and highly-respected publications, in case any of their respective employees are reading this)

another job i'd love to have is forensic scientist, maybe crime scene analyst. i'd love to tour the 'body farm' in tennessee, where they place donated corpses in different locations (under trees, in trunks of cars, etc.) and monitor how they decay. fascinating. maybe for my honeymoon? :D

Why not being a peace correpondent? That would be better.

I would like to be finally recognized as a true intelectual, and people would give me money (not tons of cash, just enough to live decently and buy my DVDs and CDs) to have the pleasure of seeing me directing movies, writing clever articles and deep poetry and advising the world to listen more New Order. ;)

I am game, Ms. Wood! Now, who will convince Nicos to put up a webpage for us. and would you rather be President or Editor, I am not fussy.

As for Spidey's proposal, yeahh, we can have him as peace correspondant.

"Greetings from Switzerland, errrm not much going on here, no, nothing much really...hang on a minute...nah, false alarm, thought the Retoromanish valleys were seceding but it was only a referendum on angle-fishing. Don't miss our Luxemburg report this evening: "Pasteurised Cheese. The crisis that could have been averted. With in-depth analysis of Former President Jimmy Carter's role". This is all, for now. Over to you at the studio.

Have you seen this film by Peter Greenaway where he films the decay of things?, Zoo I think it's called. Fascinating stuff indeed. Brilliant soundtrack as well.

I think the title is 'A Z and two noughts' Michael Nyman wrote the music. Haven't seen it for about 10 years but it was very good I enjoyed 'Drowning By Numbers' from the same period as well but later stuff like 'The Cook, The Theif....' lost me.

your not wrong hank.

that was the one with the twins & that woman with no legs or summat wasnt it?

drowning by numbers was a bit weird, more fun to be hd looking out for the numbers 1 - 100 appearing in each scene in numerical order.

thought cook theif etc was one of his more accesible ones, great performance by michael gambon & helen mirren looked ok too

ultimately, i want to be a therapist for abuse survivors. but the best job i've ever had was being a clerk in a fabulous independent music store in Denver, Colorado (USA) called Twist & Shout. being surrounded by music all day long was so incredible...and the staff there helped me get more into Joy Division and New Order and a lot of the stuff i listen to now that i didn't before i began working there.
