Has this been tried before? Anyway, what's yer favorite NOOL'er nickname? My vote goes to...

BENNY'S COBWEB EYES (...and I'd like to have this far-out, wacky nickname explained! Who's Benny? Why the cobwebs?)

There is a thorough explanation of this on one of the threads (possibly the best fall album one?)

am more intrigued by these weird ones that have appeared recently - spider in a land of meat springs to mind

The explanation is in a thread named Temptation : The Ultimate Question and I guess it's in the Fallnet website as well.

I guess that's just a way our south-american mate found to pay hommage to his two obsessions: New Order and Spider-Man (or whatever... with NOOL'ers you never really know, do you?)

Iain Curtis. Can't spell Ian right :)

I think mine's cool, I mean, it's my REAL name? Can I actually change it though?

Your check is in the mail (all $5.00 of it) :D

I don't know, I haven't given much thought to "which nickname is the best?". If I had to choose, though (in no particular order):

Muffy Huntsman Rocket Mick Major Tarentino Snucker Spotnick Green (very simple, to the point) Spider in a land of Meat e.e. cummings

Grigory Rasputin and Sloppy Zidane were two of the best. Both of these two in question have had more nicknames than Posh Spice:lol:

Budvar Huber. Sounds like a friendly vacuum cleaner;) Last time he posted it was for the 999th time and has there been anything since? Is there a speech coming or have I missed it?

Budvar is just lurking, I saw him online today. He must be preparing his big 1000th post. ;)

And in the meantime we can heap abuse upon him without fear of retaliation.

like bizarre love triangle, only referencing a different geometric shape. i do wish he'd change 'trapazoid' to its correct spelling, however: trapEzoid. it's been driving me nuts for months now! please, biz!

sorry, i'm just one of those annoying sticklers for proper spelling. if something's misspelled on a menu, i won't order it.

oh, and i like benny's cobweb eyes, as well. i've spent ages thinking about what someone with 'cobweb eyes' might look like. or even what they are, exactly. that wacky, wild mark eeee.

Is Spotnick a reference to the band the Spotnicks? I've always wondered.

I like the ones that reference NO and other bands, like Benny's Cobweb Eyes. KW1 is cool because it references both Kraftwerk and New Order!

Benny, for the Fall reference; Taboo #7 for the NO reference, Biznotic Love Trapezoid cause it's different. Those are my faves, though I haven't seen any that I really dislike.

Benny was a characer in Crossroads, an age old British soap which was axed years back, but made a comeback recently. I think he was blinded then complained of 'cobweb eyes' to his doctor. Something like that.

MESmith then referenced said quote in 'Who Made The Nazis' (I think?). It's a fairly esoteric reference, even by English standards.

Thanks Wen, now I remember... That DOESN'T explain, however, why there's such a huge Simpsons' fixation amongst our ranks!

I didn't said that! In fact, my purpose in life is being Homer Simpson one day. I've got the beer belly to prove it (the hair is pretty much intact, I'm afraid...)!
