Are about to start. Will Detroit repeat? Will The Ottawa Senators finally go beyond the second round of the playoffs? Do the Flyers have the goaltending to make a run at the cup? and many other questions that I can't think of.

For purely bias reasons I think Detroit will win it.

Please make your predictions and/or comments

Thank You

i'm a huge Red Wings fan, so i'm biased as well.

but i honestly think that they are probably "the team to beat" in the playoffs. Stevie Yzerman is rounding back into shape, Jiri Fischer is coming back soon, and everyone is playing so well right now; they've been almost unstoppable the last couple of months.

i'm still not convinced that a team from the East is capable of winning it all. i think it will be either the Wings or Stars.

Like I give a s*it.

Sorry, but I'm still very down by the fact that my team doesn't do the play-offs for the 4th time in the last 5 years...

Boy that sucks...

To be honest, I don't give a damn who wins, but I like the underdogs, ie Tampa Bay and Minnesota.. (Minnesota having the coaching staff the Habs would have if Mr Lemaire was able to handle the press)

how do you think the Lightning will do this year?

tonight, both 8th-seeded teams won!

the Isles shut out the Sens and the Oilers beat the Stars by a goal.

fabulous!

The Habs did eliminate the 1st seed last season...!

And honestly, both Habs and Canes are out of the playoffs this year :nonono:

I'm seriously thinking that those 2 months of more vacation was what the players wanted!

i can't believe that 7 of the 8 opening series games were upsets (according to seeding)!

the Wings game was such a bummer! i'm sure they'll bounce back, though.

and it made me so happy to see the Oilers, Isles and Wild win...let's hope they win their series (what's the plural? is it the same as the singular?)!

oh my god. the Wings lost again today.

but hey - this happened last year in the first round, too. granted, the Ducks are better, but i still have faith in the ole' Winged Wheelers. :)

yes...the Dead Wings did lose again today!!!

and my beloved Stars did trounce the Oilers last night...and what's up with the Stars and Oilers meeting every frigging year??? with the exception of last year, when we couldn't even get in the playoffs!!!

but I still see either the Wings, Stars, or Avs taking the cup...nobody from the east is strong enough...

looking at the trends...it seems to be the Wings year again...

then the Stars next year!!!

For god sakes put in Manny Legace!!!!!

My Lightning don't seem up to par. Unfortunate, they had a shot. I hope they can win a game in Washington. They look confused and young against the veteran Caps. I hope they can put up a stand, but I guess division champs is quite an accomplishment in itself for this team.

Wings down 3-0? to the Ducks? is this a new disney movie? its been all giguere though the islanders let me down in 2ot last night but they shouldve gotten a scorer at the deadline instead on Niinimaa(who is great but we have a solid D and obviously only scoring on 1 of 10 power plays we needed a scorer) so it was only a matter of time till the talented sens beat snow who is playing great flyers leafs is a great series, i think it'll be the leafs and i hope gilmour comes back soon, he is my all time Fav Player and this is probably it for him, plus he can help the leafs he has always been a great performer in the playoffs i'd love to see the oilers bounce the stars and i think it will happen

The Wings, well, they had 2 more months of hockey than everyone else, they are aged, it's difficult for them.

BUT, they did it last year.. Vancouver was ahead by at least 2 games...

So we never know...

the Oilers/Stars series is turning out to be quite a doozy!

i sure hope Edmonton wins! that'd be fabulous if they offed the Stars!

It will be next to immpossible. The Wings offence has choosen the perfect time to go south.

So much for the "I went to Detroit becuase I want to win the Stanley Cup" Curtis Joseph. Pay the admission to the Hockey Hall of Fame and you will get to see the Cup real close.

jesus christ. he played a pretty shabby series. and that second goal in game 3? absolutely shameful. it reminded me of the goal in game 7 of the 1994 series against the Sharks when Osgood made a similar mistake.

boo.

but i still love my Wings, just as much as i always have. there's always the future! :)

I can see Leafs fans cheering because Joseph is out... ;)

Now, who the hell will win this cup? Colorado? Dallas?

In the east, Ottawa is still alive, we're all waiting for the Toronto-Ottawa revenge, hope this will happen...

New Jersey is, as always, doing well and can innocently get to the cup if Brodeur carries them, plus Pat Burns has experience.

I can't believe Robbie Ftorek got fired AGAIN with one month left in the season.. this time, it didn't work too well though ;)

The Scary thing About the Wings Series is they pretty much got beat by Giguere by himself, they had tons of chances, i think it isnt in the Cards for cujo to win a cup!!!! islanders palyed game 4 like they rather be playing golf, no Intensity whatsoever, well tonight they can get their golf bags ready and hit the greens on saturday, i am very dissapointed! i'm still pulling for the leafs and gilmours hopeful return in the 2nd round Oilers w/o Dvorak for the rest of the series? Laraque needs to put a few more in, and if isbister did as well it wouldnt hurt their chances, i hate the stars so i am putting my cards on the oilers

well...the Stars lead 4-0 in the 3rd...so I'm thinking this game is over...but the Oilers still have a shot...

we have a huge red wings (or is that dead wings???) fan at work...everybody kept asking her what aisle the brooms were on...she actually got my sympathy today...

the Wild won today. if they can pull off a win at home in game 6, they'll force a fabulous 7th game!

and the Flyers won!!! boo!!! i really hope the Leafs win the last two contests to advance.

Hum, round 2 might get interesting if the Leafs are there...

Ottawa vs Toronto in the 2nd round is the dream of anybody in the east.. to see if they can FINALLY get rid of the Leafs, once and for all.

If Philly takes Toronto out, Ottawa is going to the final round for sure, they just CAN'T beat Toronto in the playoffs for some reason.

New Jersey vs Tampa Bay might be a very very sleepy playoff... I expect New Jersey to win this easily, but still, now knows what Khabibulin can do!

i would LOVE to see an Ottawa/Toronto series. i think it would be a great series.

and i agree with you, Spotnick - the Lightning just aren't nearly as good as the Devils.

and i'm very curious to see how the Ducks do against the Stars. i have a feeling that the Stars will win, but you never know!

and who do you think will win game 7 of the Blues/Canucks series? i'm hoping that Vancouver can pull it off and advance to the next round.

at this point, i'm basically just hoping that:

a) the Avalanche don't win the Cup. b) a Canadian team does.

I sure hope the Canucks will pass, they diserve it...

My dream final would be Ottawa/Vancouver just to piss Gary Bettman

But I have a feeling New Jersey might go to the final this year... with Dallas, Dallas/Colorado would be a good thing to watch.

Altough I don't watch the playoffs when the Habs are not in them, it's just too sad

both the Wild and Maple Leafs won in overtime tonight to force game 7's!

fabulous! i'm so excited! they'll both be played tomorrow night, along with the Canucks/Blues game 7.

go Minnesota and Toronto and Vancouver!

Pssst!

It's the sound of the Dallas Stars jet winding up for a non-stop flight to Cupville!!!!!

It's on like a pot of neck bone. :D

:(

7 minutes into the third period, the Maple Leafs are down by four goals (5-1 Flyers lead).

:(

now, with 6:56 remaining in the third, it's 6-1, Flyers.

Alright, Leafs out, 90% of fanhome.com will now go outside and do something with their life

Wild 1 - Avalanche 1 with less than 7 minutes to play in the 2nd, wonder how this one will finish.. the best goalie of the Habs history versus an entire ex-coaching staff of the Habs.. but since the Avalanche is indeed the old Quebec Nordiques, our rivals, I'd say GO WILD!

the Wild won in OT! and what an amazing goal by Andrew Brunette! yowza!

and the Canucks won, as well!

Louis is done, good i hate half that team pronger, tkachuk etc. and i cant beleive how belfour blew that game last night, i cant stand him but he let in some crappy goals well my hero doug gilmour is probably now officially done with his great career, fuck his last game in calgary injured on a freak play, what a way to end it, i am very upset!!!!

Yeah, we traded 10 minutes of play for a draft pick!

Thanks Doug for 2002!

so - what do you say we post predictions for the second round? here are mine:

Stars def. Ducks, 4-2 Wild def. Canucks, 4-2 Senators def. Flyers, 4-2 Devils def. Lightning, 4-1

what do you think? :)

That sounds about right. Although I think Tampa will give the Devils are hard time.

all I can say is, the Ducks look to be for real!!!

and I just thought the Wings sucked!!!

Gosh.. the game is going in the 8th period.. that's just crazy!!!!!!!!!!!

For novice out there, this is the equivalent of 2 1/3 games played, going for 2 2/3!

the Senators won the series!!!

Sorry Grigori, Ducks win.

And the Wild blow out the Nucks force a game six

wow. i must admit - i'm stunned that the Ducks are doing this well. but i don't think they'll be able to win the cup. they'll probably end up being last year's Carolina Hurricanes and be the cinderella team but then lose in the finals.

how weird is it that the Western Conference Finals matchup will be the Ducks against either the Canucks or the Wild? i don't think anyone expected that to happen.

at this point, i just want a Canadian team to win. go Canucks and Senators!

This is crazy, Ottawa is the only team that resist this year.. will they pass New Jersey?!?!

I dream of a Ottawa-Vancouver final, just to see Gary Betteman cry :evil4:

Did anyone notice the common factor with the 5 teams left? yes that's right, they all have a goalie from Quebec!!!

BTW, rumors exist that Bob Gainey will be named the Habs general manager within the next few weeks...

Now that the Stars are eliminated, it could be any day now.

André Savard would be named Head Scout, as he should be, to stay away from the money he spends so badly...!!

Except Carolina didn't have a star player neither a good goalie.

They were LUCKY to beat the Habs.. we were 10 seconds away from leading this serie 3-1

Anaheim has Paul Kariya and Jean-Sébastien Giguère..

Looks to me like the 1993 Habs..! Roy won the cup by himself, there were no real star player beside him, and we won 10 games in overtime.. the main difference is that we never met a big team up to the end like the Ducks did..

i can't wait for game 7 in the Canucks/Wild series tonight! i think it will be an ace game.

who do you think will win? i don't really know; i'm kind of sick right now so i can't really get a good feeling about it.

but i'm going to say that the Wild will win, even though i don't want them to. wouldn't it be something if they came back from being down 3-1, two series in a row?! yowza!

the Wild won! i can't believe that the Western Conference Finals are a matchup between the Ducks and the Wild! i don't think anyone predicted that at the start of the playoffs.

so who do you think will win the conference finals? here are my predictions:

Wild def. Ducks in 7 Devils def. Senators in 6

:jawdrop:

This is seriously disturbing... no team left is one of the league's top salary team.. Paul Kariya is probably the only overpaid player left ;)

Prediction? Well, the Wild is on fire, but so is Jean-Sébastien Giguère.. so I predict Anaheim in 5 or 6, the Ducks are seriously rested, which is not the Wild's case..

Now, the Devils vs Senators, I sure hope the Senators will go for it (I live 2h east of Ottawa after all!).. but this could be a very long LONG thing.. so Ottawa in 7.

JSG stood on "his head" today. He took away a number of sure goals. I agre with Nik. JSG is doing a great impression of Roy circa 1993. I think it will be a Ducks/Sens final.

how about those Ducks? they swept the Wild! do you think the Senators or Devils will be able to stop them?

and who do you think will win in the east? i really don't know at this point...

Here's my prediction.

If Anaheim meets the Devils, the Devils WILL WIN.

If Anaheim meets Ottawa, the Ducks WILL WIN.

Brodeur is ALSO doing incredibly well this year, it's HIS YEAR...

Ottawa & New Jersey finished 1st and 2nd in the east, technically, they should win it easily.

If Paul Kariya wakes up, the Ducks might be a tough team to beat.

Will it be the first time that a town win the World Series & the Stanley Cup within the same year? (Altough technically they won the World Series last year)

Hum... so, Senators or Devils?

i think the devils will pull it out brodeur i think will be the difference in game 7 but either way i cannot complain at all about thi years playoffs they have been really good, a lot of overtime, a lot of Upsets best since 1993 i think
