The Jam - favourite album?

Don't know if this one has been done on NOOL before, but here goes. My choice is All Mod Cons, a great album by a truly great live band, particularly in small venues such as the Music Machine in Camden Town where I was lucky enough to see them in December '80.

You're quite fortunate to have seen them then; they never came anywhere close to where I lived (not even on that ill-matched US tour opening up for Blue Oyster Cult was that all about?)

As for myself, I thought their debut was pretty good, the second one mediocre, but All Mod Cons was a great turnaround. Still, I voted for Setting Sons cause Strange Town is one of my fave songs, and it's got the classic Jam sound done to perfection, though I'll admit that I rarely play Wasteland that often.

Sound Affects...incredible album. I saw Paul Weller four months ago, with Oasis, and played "That's entertainment".

I only have one of their proper albums (Sound Affects)so I feel a bit nervy about voting in this, but I'll go with that one. It's a brilliant album.

All Mod Cons, everytime. Brilliant songs, A Bomb in Wardour Street in particular. Down in the tube station at midnight is a amazing (My party piece is to sing it word for word).

Saw Weller 4 times last year, he was amazing. :)

Has anyone seen The Jamm, tribute band? They're really good, well work a look.

i also love 'down in the tube station at midnight', and their cover of 'david watts' is fantastic. the perfect band to do it.

I voted for in the city. I think the album is fantastic. there's something in there that I just haven't found in any of their subsequent releases.

Sound Affects is my fave, mostly because it was the 1st Jam album I bought when I was turned on to them in 1980. All Mod Cons is 2nd but only by an itty bitty bit. My least favorite is This is the Modern World...it just didn't do anything for me. The Gift would be excellent except for those crappy Bruce Foxton songs. He shoulda stopped after Smithers-Jones.

Never got to see the Jam or Style Council, but I hold out fading hope that I get to see PW someday. Would gone to see him this last tour but no job=no money and I wasn't going to drive to Chicago by myself in the middle of winter to see him. Then we had a snow storm so it was a moot point. PW has an irritating habit of cancelling shows over here if they don't sell out. He's a fucking prima donna with having to be worshipped but his songs changed my life.

The Jam is my favorite group of all time and Paul Weller IS god.

"All Mod Cons", it's the only album of theirs i have, but what an album, still love it to this day.
