(english fellas: with all my respect)

today´s a special day for me and my countrymen. 17 years ago one little man made the most beautiful goal on a world cup. strangely the english people only remembers that game because of the "hand of god", the first goal. it´s understandable, they just want to forget about the second one. but what they don´t understand is that if the "hand of god" wouldn´t existed still the game would have been 2-1 for argentina. because that goal counts for 2.

It's a quality goal, probably the best individual goal you'll see. Still, if Terry Fenwick had just fouled the little runt on the edge of the area rather than letting him run past... And how did Lineker miss that header right at the end?

Still can't beat Carlos Alberto in the '70 final for best all round goal ever.

Carlos Alberto´s goal was a great one. but i think better goals are arabian Owairan´s versus belgium on 98, scotland Gemmill´s versus holland on 78, brazilian Pele´s versus sweden on 58.... so i must disagree with you. but that´s ok, we can disagree

I'm not disagreeing, all the one's you mention are individual efforts. I like the Brazillian one as it was a great example of brilliant team goal, from a brilliant team. Just my preference.

Without doubt, this was the best goal ever in a World Cup match, although Maradonna's goal against Belgium was every bit as good, stamina, skill and technique, the guy was/is a legend.

I also have very fond memories of the "Hand Of God Goal".....fuck me it was great winding up the England supporters at school :nod:

And although England are pretty crap in the world football stage (bit like Brazil in last nights federation game! :lol: ) the beautiful game did provide the nations most favourite moment.

The penalty against Argentina in the world cup!!

The nations biggest "feel good factor" apparntly came from Beckhams free kick against Greece that got us there in the first place!!

I just saw both instances as blinding reasons to get blinding drunk and so did everyone i met on those days funnily enough!! :laugh:

Me oh, sorry. I´m not english! but you deserved to win on that game only because the shameful 1 meter jump ala-barishnikov beckham did before brazil´s first goal.... he must be ashamed of that.

SIR paul gascoigne, please! what a player! he had technique but also had attitude. it´s difficult to find that kind of guys in england. i think that´s what happen with you guys. technically you´re with the top teams but you need to put players with more personality. as gascoigne, as barnes, as ince, as pearce, as scholes.... my impression of the english team is that they don´t care if they win or loose. and that´s the reason you hardly pass the quarterfinals of a world cup. this i say with all the respect and as an outside viewer. am i wrong?

Gemmill's goal was an absolute cracker.....and lest we forget David Narey's scorching top corner against Brazil in the 1982 World Cup. But Maradonna's goals against England and Belgium were truly magnificent. The Brazil 70 goal that Blue guy mentioned was a joy to behold as well.

Best goal that wasnae a goal in a World Cup Final.....can anyone guess this?:D

Twas a very heated match, Crystal Palace v Man Ure. Cantona got sent off, and to reach the dressing room, he had to walk along the touchline right in front of the Palarse fans. To be fair, he did receive more than the usual ammount of baiting and abuse from the home fans and there were cups of tea, coins and god knows what else being chucked at him. Leather jacket guy came right up to the edge and yelled something at him...and Cantona completely lost it and did a flying kung-fu kick over the hoardings.

Laugh? I thought my trousers would never dry...

They show all the baseball brawls...so why not Cantona's video to "everybody was Kung Fu fighting"?
