Do you remember that band of the 80's that you really enjoyed and now you forgot? For about 15 or 20 years? :D

How weird is this? Was listening to "I Like Chopin" (on an 80s compilation MD) by Gazebo when I opened this thread. I also remember Baltimora ("Tarzan Boy") & Double ("Captain Of Her Heart" (?)). As for The Farm, if it's the same band I'm thinking of, didn't they have more than one hit?

The Romantics was another one hit wonder with "Talking In Your Sleep" -- that stuck in my head for several weeks sadly. :(

baltimora and when in rome released two of the greatest songs of the decade: 'tarzan boy' and 'the promise,' respectively.
as for the romantics, i never liked 'talking in your sleep,' but 'what i like about you' is excellent.
what the hell happened to corey hart? did he mess around with a guy in shades? oh no!
what about glass tiger? they didn't want us to forget them when they were gone, or their heart would break...but we did.
and rockwell? that dude always felt like someone was watching him. he couldn't get no privacy.

Maybe the word 'HIT' was being a bit generous to some of these. I can't believe you remember "I Eat Cannibals". You're the only other person I've encountered who remembers it. Maybe it was a hit in Ireland, I'm not sure. But if so, maybe it explains Boyzone/Westlife/Ronan Keating & other "music" acts we've unfairly inflicted on the world. 
Sal Solo's sole solo offering (say THAT with a mouthful of spaghetti!) was "San Damiano", from around '85, another song I'm sure is a figment of my imagination, as no-one else remembers it!
The Moses I mentioned had a song called "We Just", not sure if it was a solo act or a band.
If Video Kids wasn't a hit in Brazil, well...... be thankful!

Quite a few, most of 'em were American bands that were played incessantly on the radio back then, such as....
Love Tractor, pals of R.E.M., mostly instrumental band, full of smart-alecky UGA students, with a brilliant cover of Kraftwerk's Neon Lights.
Rainy Day, basically the underground LA scene's folky/psychedelic version of This Mortal Coil's It'll End In Tears; a really hit or miss affair for the most part(never a huge fan of the Three O'Clock) but the best ones are brilliant, such as Susannah Hoffs, of the Bangles, with great versions of I'll Be Your Mirror and Dylan's I'll Keep It With Mine. One song is common to both albums, Alex Chilton's Holocaust, and Kendra Smith's version here blows Howard Devoto's out of the water.
The Embarrassment, from Kansas, with their immortal song Sex Drive, and its insanely sing along tag line "Get out of my way.........I haven't had any sex all day...........I'm going on a...................sex.................drive!!!"
The Suburbs, also from Minnesota w/ Husker Du and The Replacements. World War III single had the line "And God said.........kneel you bastards". Love Is The Law was also pretty swell.

thought this was going to be about indie guitar c86 type bands or maybe neds, nfads, kitchens of distinction type groups as opposed to pop bands mind...

Andrei, you're thinking these bands are forgotten just because you don't live in São Paulo, there are several "80s parties" here. Check Projeto Autobahn website and take a look at their playlists.

As a Canadian, I know a little about those canadian artists.
Corey Hart is a music producer, he is married to one of Quebec's (said as, not by me) best singer, and she didn't release a thing since they are married (Corey produced her first and only english album, they got married afterwards)
He released a quite respectable album in something like 1999 called Black Cloud Rain, then he released in 2000 (or 2001) a cover of Jean-Jacques Goldman's song "Là-Bas" in french, a duet with his wife, Julie Masse..
He produced tracks on Céline Dion's "Let's Talk About Love" album if I remember right, he also played keyboards on that album.
As for Glass Tiger, they vanished from the surface of the Earth for some reason, I would have expected Alan Frew to do a succesful solo career, but I've never heard from them again!
According to All Music Guide: "Alan Frew went solo and completed two albums under the EMI label: Hold On in 1994 and Wonderland in 2000"
Another "lost" canadian artist.. Platinum Blonde.. they had one major hit "Crying Over You" (at least here), then vanished..
Gino Vanelli also, "Black Cars", they he took a different turn.. he just released a new album though.
And The Outfield? Anyone remember? They were touring in Brazil in 2001 - I went to see them...
We have Europe, too (Ca-a-aaaaaaarrie, and Rocky's Final Countdown).

I think that song might have had a really, really slight revival a year ago - at least here, in Philadelphia. I remember people singing it for some gawd-awful reason in high school a year ago, and getting asked to sing it myself.

O! the Shop Assistants and The Flatmates were brilliant, saw them a few times in the late 80s. And The Primitives and Darling Buds kind of ripped them off and watered it down for the charts.
Somebody beat me to it for A Flock of Seagulls and Reflex "Politics of Dancing" but how about these erm, class acts.

Has anyone here ever heard of the Stabilizers? ("Underground," "Tyranny," "One Simple Thing?") Didn't think so.
They were two hometown lads who hit the big time in '86. They got signed to a major label (reportedly because "two-man bands" were the "hot" thing at the moment...though I don't think the bassist and drummer thought it was too hot to learn they weren't included) and moved to L.A.
Then the label was sold and they were dropped, which sucketh most greatly, since their completed second album was pulled from release (a most Barton Fink-like end - "We paid for it, we own it, and no one will ever hear it.").
Last I heard, they were reduced to eating T'Pau to survive.

What about Drum Theatre, around 1986? Two songs I remember are "Living In The Past" (I think) and "El Dorado". This 2nd one does exist, I'm at least sure about that one!

Shop assistants and the flatmates were pretty good in a shambling indie sort of way. one of the flatmates was flogging cdrs of their 'rare tracks' on ebay recently. Along with model railway trains, I think.
I was listening to the Au Pairs the other week. They were pretty good also.
