Survivor ("Eye of the Tiger", not the TV show): One of Conan O'Brien's finest moments was the "reality show" that had the band members all living together ala "Big Brother", talking about their big hit song. It finally ended with them gathered around a TV watching their own video for the song way back when.

I think that song might have had a really, really slight revival a year ago - at least here, in Philadelphia. I remember people singing it for some gawd-awful reason in high school a year ago, and getting asked to sing it myself.

I also quite liked the Shop Assistants, some pretty decent singles, but never saw an album by them. All Day Long, Safety Net and Train From Kansas City are on a few mix tapes that I made back then that I still play today, gonna have to play those 45s soon. Never heard of Fatal Charm.
I have both Vapours albums, but I haven't played them in at least 15 years.

Are we sure about the Farm? They were much much bigger in the 90's than they ever were in the 80's. Surely Groovy Train, Altogether Now and suchlike were actually hits in the 90's, albeit early 90's? Anyways, you still can't avoid Hooton and their manager (Sampson) always ominpresent in the music/fashion press. Sampson must've released about five novels now.

shop assistants were on sarah records weren't they? another band on that label were the flatmates - had shimmer on 12" - that was quite good.
what about the brilliant corners? or the blue aeroplanes?
O! the Shop Assistants and The Flatmates were brilliant, saw them a few times in the late 80s. And The Primitives and Darling Buds kind of ripped them off and watered it down for the charts.
Somebody beat me to it for A Flock of Seagulls and Reflex "Politics of Dancing" but how about these erm, class acts.

They were two hometown lads who hit the big time in '86. They got signed to a major label (reportedly because "two-man bands" were the "hot" thing at the moment...though I don't think the bassist and drummer thought it was too hot to learn they weren't included) and moved to L.A.
Then the label was sold and they were dropped, which sucketh most greatly, since their completed second album was pulled from release (a most Barton Fink-like end - "We paid for it, we own it, and no one will ever hear it.").
Last I heard, they were reduced to eating T'Pau to survive.
