My new monitor kicks ass.

Bought a new computer about three months ago and got this new LCD monitor, and I think it really kicks ass!

I wasn't sure at first, but after this 3 months trial, I can now tell I made the good choice.

It's a Samsung 172N LCD monitor and the image quality is very impressive and its design is nifty. Have a look:

Anyone else got a LCD monitor? If so, what do you think of yours? I think the viewing angle and dot pitch still needs to be enhanced, but this is still a good pick anyway.

Absolutely a good deal, and this is what decided me to buy this one, because it came relatively cheap compared to the other "well known brand names" such as NEC. I paid mine 750$ (in canadian currency) but I will get eventually (it's about time I receive it too!) a 100$ postal rebate, so 650$ (£292 !!!) for that was a very good deal. Thank you, Future Shop!

I suggest you shop a little though, because there is a wide variety of these out there, and not all of them provide a good and clear image. The most important things to check out are the dot pitch (pixel pitch) and the viewing angle.

For the dot pitch, do not accept anything less than 0.26. This is the best on the market right now for LCD monitors.

The best dot pitch for a CRC (standard) monitor right now is 0.20, so it gives you an idea of the evolution that still needs to be made for the LCD ones. The smaller it is, the clearer the image is.

The only down side with my monitor is that it is not a digital one -- not a huge downside because it doesn't change anything really -- but my graphics card has a digital output and it forces me to use a converter.

I checked the Samsung digital ones but they are far too expensive.

My Dell 15" Flat Panel is the best thing that has happened to me in a while.

My eyes can thank me for that, now if I could only convince the people at work...
