Damn it, it's so hot outside I can't even stay there long enough :D

33 degrees + the usual humidity from Montreal, it must feel like 40-45 degrees outside.

I need air conditionning in this damn house, the one I have (10000 BTUs) is sure not enough!! and my pool is not ok, water needs work :D

Nah, just checked, feels like 39 degrees (celcius of course), 52% humidity only.. not so bad

try the garden hose, unless of course there's a hose pipe ban! Head in the fridge? A holiday in the Netherlands would cool you down as well, we've been freezing at a barbeque this afternoon and I'm in two minds whether I should put the heating on :(

hmmm...33 celsius...what the hell is that in F??? let's see...double it and add 32...yikes, that's warm for you northern types...

I just tend to drink a lot so that I forget how hot it is...

I also take off all my clothes and rub ice cubes all over my body...

but I tend to do that when it isn't warm out as well :wink:

oh...that's right...alkyhol does indeed cause the body to release heat, thus cooling your core down...I sound like a fooking Nestea commercial now, don't I???

Funny, I find that remedy is very useful against the cold; my body must be working the wrong way round?!...looks like the heating won't be needed after all :D

actually Geri...it's the heat being released that makes you think you are warmer...that's why they strongly suggest against drinking when you will be in the cold for an extended period...you think you are warm while your body temp is plummeting...

since when did this place become the science channel???

I usually fill an inflatable kiddie pool with ice cream and bathe in it. With sprinkles and chocolate sauce, of course. And if I want a cherry on top, I invite the neighbor girl over.

aah, poor nic. well, as someone who lives in the inner circle of hell the only advice i can give you is to stay indoors. with the air-conditioning on. here in florida i move from inside a building, to the car, crank the air-conditioning, and then go back inside again. follow this plan. oh, and get your pool fixed. our pool is very important in sustaining our lives this time of year and i love going for hot afternoon dips.

right now it's, like, 8 million degrees, with, like, 98% humidity.

no stella in texas?? wtf? i can walk to the corner market and get it here in san diego. i like Negra Modelo (assuming that they do have mexican beers in texas) on a sunny day with some good BBQ.

By the way, will the fine people of England please tell me, once and for all, how to pronounce the name of the Bass beer?

Do we say "Bass" as in "Peter Hook's bass" or is it "Bass", with the "a" letter pronounced the same way we do in french?

What are the usual types of beverages on offer in NY bars then? my first job was at target(housewares, baby, housewares!)... but avoid the northern san diego county area, 'cause it sucks, and it is rare you'll find anything beyond bud, coors, and MGD along with the other majorly distributed "micro"-brews (sierra nevada, redhook, etc...) but come to think of it, i don't think i've seen stella on tap anywhere in this town. i look around and get back to you on that

also, be prepared NOT to be able to smoke anywhere indoors: bars, restaurants, coffee houses, concert venues, etc... they got strict in california.

yes...I discovered that smoking thing when in SF for Area One...went into a Fridays...ordered some food, a beer, and then asked for an ash tray...you should have seen the look the mad bastard gave me

IMHO the best place to be on a new years day is a beach in Brazil, though. heat, girls, cold drinks, fireworks, sand, water, good music.... ah, how i wish i be there right now :nod:

sounds kinda like the north eastern U.S.

in Buenos Aires, you are on the east coast of South America so a lot of your ocean current comes down from the tropics, bringing humid air-masses with it. if you lived on the west coast, somewhere in Chile, i am sure there wouldn't be as much humidity...

here, our average temp is around 24C, never much above 35C or below 13C. there is hardly ever any humidity.

hey, so in your opinion, when is the best time to visit Buenos Aires?

i like march. the temperature is always between 20C and 27C and the sky is moslty light blue all the time. also the Jacarandá trees are in bloom so the whole city is painted in blue/violet. nice!
