Are you talking about the band in the US that are also called Longview and make bluegrass music?

P, I'm happy to report that I've seen the majority of the MTV Musical Movie Awards. Pretty polished. Jeremy Tinderstick and the other one from Dune, Where's My Sand Worms were well suited to the theme of the night. i.e. light entertainment.

I even found myself chuckling to William H Smithy and the other Bad Bloke with their pre-movie hype antics.

Unfortunately I missed Dollop as I was away from the viewing arena when he was up.

The Penguin Cafe Orchestra incorporate banjo on some of their fabulous body of work. It seems the UK advertising kids are just picking up on this music as I've seen it on a few recent commercial 'messages'. Unfortunately the most memorable being the recent underground to Paris. The parodies looked like a years work. I guess MTV take it all very seriously, the humour that is, and making it look polished. Is it too late to track down the original reels for Henry's Angels and destroy them? - I'd put it in the same category as water torture.

Mind, a pal of mine lent me Jay and Silent Peter Strikes Baccy. Pretty mindless but funny. Has some very good bits, especially Mathew Drainman and Benjamin Atlas re-creating Good Graham Hunting 5 with added comedy. Similar in many respects to the Musical Awards.

I'd been wondering about Jay and the Loquacious Bobcat. I'll try to see it the next time it's on cable.

The parodies on that show are always very good. As I've said before, the Phantom Menace one was particularly memorable.

I watched Woody Allen's Crimes and Misdeamenaours the other night. I was never a big fan of Woody Peckersville until he began makind semi-straight films, rather than patchy comedies. C&M is from the late eighties and I found it thoroughly enjoyable. It was nice to watch a film with dialogue, character depth and a compelling story, as opposed to a van blown from the side after a cop chase.

I refuse to watch Tumble Dryer III with Arnold Square Pegger. After seeing the initial promo 'She'll be back', dear me. Go tell it to the biscuits son.

The Shield is back on for its second series and its now comparable to The Sultanas. Quality through and through.

Actually, we watched Jeepers Creepers using the surround sound capabilities and it was surprisingly opulent. A little tap water at the end when the final baddy revealed itself (just imagine what it could be even if you know nothing about the film and you've probably just pictured the exact beast). JC II is meant to be good. I might go to the flicks for that.

Surprising you should mention Jeepers Creepers. I saw it on TV a few weeks ago and quite enjoyed it.

The only Woody Allen movies I've liked were Manhattan and Annie Hall. Manhattan was pretty good, I thought. I haven't seen the one you mentioned. I believe the last of his movies I saw was Bullets Over Broadway. I can't recall the name of the one that made me stop paying attention, around the time of Midsummer Night's Sex Comedy. Of course the scandal didn't help.

I'm willing to give WA's latest movies a whirl on the strength of C&M. Although you've just tinged this with mention of his musical efforts. Musicals should have been outlawed post-Grease, as the world is too cynical to record them with honesty.

Well, let's hope musicals are not gone for good, H. Although I seem to recall that you were not too fond of them even before Grease.

As I said, I haven't seen C&M, so I can't comment on it. But he is capable of making good movies, so I'm prepared to give it the benefit of the doubt.

And just to set the record straight, I haven't seen T3, T2, or T1. I confess I did see Conan the Barbarian.

Bruce Almighty has been viewed by a few of my comrades and they state its very funny in parts, but is a bit Hollywood sugar coated. Speaking of Hollywood, I saw T2 there, on what can only be described as a screen possibly bigger than I even expected earth to look like if I had the capacity to see it all in one go stood at the edge. It was so vastly bigger than I'd ever seen before I nearly expired with all the commotion. The funny thing is, there was about 3 of us in the audience, and 2 of them were my mates. If we spoke, it echoed for about 5 minutes, about the time it took for Apple to dismount from his 'Modorcykal'.

That bloke from Zoolander was in Meet the De Niro wasn't he? - that was an odd film, funny but odd. A bit like the other one he was in with Cream Cake Diaz. Funny in parts but a bit weird.

The best comedy of late has to be Dumb and Dumber, the few scenes with Carrey on form are superb. I especially laugh out loud when Sir Jim burps in a ladies fascia. Shame that most of his other stuff isn't up to standard. The movie where he's a tv personality but doesn't know it is turd.

He's been complaining that he's not taken seriously as a comedian. Is got it so wrong, in interviews he blows mostly everyone out of the water. He was on a UK interview about a week ago and I missed it! - damn it.

I liked D&D a lot. Haven't seen many of his other ones, though. I've only seen the trailers for Bruce; my main reaction was irritation at seeing the same pseudo-New York street set that I've seen about twenty million times before in other movies and TV shows.

I enjoyed Zoolander. It was very much better than I expected. Ben Stiller is often too much, but in this case the too much was just right. The director from Mulholland Drive is in this too, by the way.

Pastry, I'm not too up on producers and directors. But I can recognise your dead at seeing the bog standard New York set being re-used whilst a 20million dollar actor walks down blowing bins up in the air. Couldn't they afford an outside camera and drive to New York? - bus fairs are pretty competitive, and they allow you 2 pieces of hand luggage which could include cameras and wine gums.

Ben Still Water appeared nice at the onset, but there's something a bit odd about him that sometimes makes me a bit worse for wares. Adam Sandler is always just plain good.

I'd mention UK stars but you wouldn't know who they are.

Chevy Chase = funny and oddball (you'd like to share a coffee with him) Ben Stilton = mildly amusing and creepy (keep away from my rabbit)
