What DVDs make you salivate?

What DVDs, when you see them in the store but can't afford them, make you salivate? Are they chock-full of special features? Or are they just movies you love that you hadn't been able to find on that format before?

For me, the DVD set that makes me salivate is Brazil: Criterion Collection I haven't had much experience with Terry Gilliam's other films, but I love Brazil. The special edition costs something like $50, and the only place I can find it is online, the one-disc "regular" edition is the only one in stores. Oh man, one of these days...

Anyway, what's your "dream" DVD?

Last year it was Trading Places (Acroyd,Murphy,JL Curtis) which I have always had a soft spot for. It was only available on import and had it shipped over from Canada. Not long after I had recieved it, it was released over here.

I'm waiting with baited breath for the forthcoming Alien Quadrology (if there is such a word).

DVD? What's that? Does that work in my beta machine?

Right now, it's the Cure Trilogy DVD. I'm literally holding it in my hands and salivating.

Yes, I was doing some of that when I watched part of it this afternoon.

The Criterion edition of Rushmore is one I would love to get. A friend just let me borrow the Nightmare on Elm Street series boxed set, so I've been working my way through the few I haven't seen yet (plus a few I'd like to see again).

I agree!!..I have been trying to get a copy of the special edition of Brazil for almost a year now...and I finaly found it...now to save up the cash to get it

I must be the only person in the Western world who does not have a DVD player yet - but when I do, Alien will be nr 1 and then probably LOTR. As for Brazil - always been in my top 5 movies:

Waiting patiently for the Duckman series that used to be on USA, and later Comedy Central, with Jason Alexander as the title character who is seemingly always at his wits end with his amusing family.

Also, at some point, the X-Files sets, the second season of Twin Peaks, some Northern Exposure, etc...........

The second season of Twin Peaks?! Well, up till they solve the murder is good, but after that it just turns to shit (except the final episode is good, since Lynch directed it). So I guess that would make for half of a good boxed set.

What DVDs make me salivate? Hmmm, the classics..."The Bells of St. Marys," "For Whom the Bell Tolls," "Bell, Book, and Candle."

All I want is what any sane person wants: a DVD of the 1983 U.S. cinema classic "Get Crazy." Hell, even a VHS copy would be a slice of heaven.

I'd also love the complete "Young Ones" on DVD, but I haven't been able to overcome the guilt and spend the money.

Dead on about Twin Peaks Season 2; I'd rather they not release it, so we could all just go on pretending it never happened. Thank god they cancelled it. Suck suck suck suck suck suck suck.

Ooo, ooo, and I want UPN's "Home Movies" on DVD. I loved that show beyond any reasonable explanation.

Thinking about it, the DVD of Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust does indeed make me salivate. I saw it a few days ago, and it cost too much money. I do have the movie downloaded from Kazaa, but it's definetly not the same as watching it full screen from a DVD.

Duckman is my second favorite cartoon, just behind the Critic. Everybody should at least see one offensive episode of this crazy cartoon.

cant wait for the seinfeld one to be releasaed - they are going through the extras now - will be complete series once to start with.

mind you - got the complete series 1 & 2 scripts, but no sign of series 3, 4 etc anywhere

You know, I decided "What the hell? I got some extra cash, let's go ahead and get the Brazil: Special Edition!"

So I ordered it, and now I gotta go get a money order for about $57.00. It's pricey but it's good!
