So many to choose from, but the all-time greats for me are:

Fawlty Towers Not the 9 O'Clock News Blackadder The Office Cheers Frasier Larry Sanders

Sure I've left off a few, all ground-breaking in their own way.

Hell, I like your list better, I was too tired to think clearly when I posted my response. Dock me a few minutes in the penalty box for not mentioning the Simpsons, Seinfeld, or the cream of Adult Swim :ignore:

Nice thread cuz!

Fawlty Towers Father Ted The Office Auf Wiedersehen Pet (does that count?) Only Fools and Horses Red Dwarf Bottom I'm Alan Partridge

In no particular order. Monty Python's Flying Circus is a bit dated now, but if we're talking films, then Life of Brian's top 3 easily.

In recent years: Black Books, Book Group, Happiness.

Very recently, Early Doors was absolute quality too.

The critics have spoken - the best comedy show (in Branson, Missouri) is Yakov!

There ought to be a caution sign as you enter the Yakov Smirnoff Theatre in Branson, Missouri. It should read "Warning! Hold on to your seat 'cause this guy is about to blow you away with dynamite comedy!"...He delivers explosive laughter in a show filled with brilliant special effects, dazzling dancing, heartfelt moments, and just plain fun.The action keeps speeding up with the brilliant What A Country Dancers as they spectacularly display their unique styles of dancing. The dancers twist and twirl, daringly leaping across the stage. Yakov even joins them for a spin of his own with a surprising twist!

If it has to be english stuff:

Fresh Prince of Bel-Air Friends The Simpsons Seinfeld Frasier That 70's Show Malcolm In The Middle

Can't tell much about others, I wasn't paying attention ;)

How about Benny Hill & Mr Bean?

I don't watch much TV, but from the last time I actually turned on the television: Simpsons That '70s Show Malcolm in the Middle

or anything that's been on Fox and lasted a few seasons, excluding shows like When Animals Attack and Cops, which are only funny when you're too tired to focus or drunk.

The Simpsons South Park Bottom Rab C. Nesbitt Time Gentlemen Please A Scare At Bedtime*

*****Might not be too well known outside Ireland but one funny show. In a twisted, toilet-humour, juvenile sort of way.

Have I missed something, none of the above were actually English?!

Oh, apart from the two footnote comedies - we had to dumb them down so the American audiences could understand them! ;)

I saw the Mr. Show DVD today of the first season, and I almost bought it, but have never seen an episode, though it looks like it'd be right up my alley.

The other usual suspects here: Benny, Monty Python, Simpsons, Seinfeld, South Park, Duckman, Young Ones, AbFab, Strangers With Candy was funny, in a disturbing kinda way.
