I say we take any proceeds from Community and have Trevor forcibly extracted from Walhalla and relocated (since he doesn't seem to be making any effort on his own).

It's just...it's just not working out. It's not you...it's inland South Carolina. You need to see other cities.

So...into what rich soil shall we transplant our tender bud?

I pass literally a dozen different species of fungus on my walk home from the train station.

courtesy of the Onion (very funny!):

Gary Busey Nearly Drowns Recovering Pork Chop From Swimming Pool LOS ANGELES—Actor Gary Busey was flown from his Malibu home to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center after he nearly drowned trying to retrieve a pork chop from the bottom of his swimming pool Tuesday. "We're eating on the patio, and Gary suddenly shouts, 'Let's have dinner in the pool!' and starts throwing baby red potatoes and hunks of meat into the water," said Lupo Risinger, Busey's friend and next-door neighbor. "Well, the pork chop he threw sank like a stone, and—you know Gary—he wouldn't come up for air until he had that sucker in his teeth." Busey is currently listed in "marginally stable" condition.

Excuse me but why should anyone want to left Walhalla? It is supposed to be paradise innit? I mean, he can partake of Wotan's banquet, hunting wild boars all day long and drinking ale and making love to amazingly beautiful blonde viking girls!

The again I guess vikings never imagined their paradise would be in South Carolina  oh well!

They took a wrong turn at Greenland, and they were just too stubborn to admit their mistake! :D

But you are staying put where you are, right?

Alternatively you could relocate to Nirvana (NJ pop. 1300), (Val) Paraiso (Chile), Abraham's Bossom (Zimbabwe)...

Shitty job: $7 an hour

Hours worked per week: 8-15

Percent of the money that will go for CDs/ DVDs / books: 50-70%

Chances of affording an apartment in Clemson: unlikely

Knowing that the state lottery's footing the bill for my education: Priceless

It's doubtful I'll be getting out of Walhalla anytime soon...unless I give up my studies to pursue my life's dream of being an exotic dancer :spit:

No offense to the good people of Walhalla, but my post was actually a compliment of sorts (or supposed to have been).

Sir Trevor of SC is a fine writer and proto-humorist whose audience may well extend beyond Aisle 7 of the Food Lion; however, his humor shows a streak of self-deprecation that, while amusing, may be impeding him for aspiring beyond the crappy $7/hour job. I heard that on Oprah once.

I fought for a long time for the idea of, "It doesn't matter where I am, I'll make my own opportunities in my home town." And what did that get me? Insert leaping turd here: :jump:

Ah, the joys of hind-sight... :moon:

...though it would be easier to appreciate Trevor even moreif he'd yank down that Andy Kaufman avatar and slap up, say, Denis Leary in its place.

I'm forever haunted by that movie poster of Jim Carrey with that frigging proesthetic eyebrow.

Shudder.

I remember liking the film (even though it screwed with the actual chronology of events) when it came out, but I haven't seen it in two years. I have the videotape, but I haven't dusted it off. I think Carrey almost had a decent chance to be more than Ace Ventura around the time of Truman Show and Man on The Moon, but he's just back to the same old shit now. :nonono:

Ugh, I never wanna see that....I think the makeup he had to use on that might've caused the lung cancer he eventually died of (it was lung cancer, righ? Some rare form, if I remember correctly, thus all the theories about him "faking" his own death)

I actually drove through Wallahalla last week while on my way to Atlanta.

I was thinking that there is actually someone in this town that like NO.

Ah, did you enjoy the "blink and you'll miss it" downtown section? So many antique shops, so little time...

Oh, I'm sorry, I thought this was the Unofficial Tremors Appreciation Thread for those who appreciate "Tremors," a delightful surprise of a monster movie, taking advice from the old-fashioned 1950s films of its kind. Kevin Bacon and Fred Ward star as a couple of independent cusses that come across an extraordinary discovery--a decapitated sheep rancher and his gruesome devoured flock. Along with a earthquake specialist, they are forced to fight for their lives against a pack of underground flesh-eating, giant worms. Superb performances from Bacon and Ward, who carry the film with their charming wit and ruthless attitudes. Excellent special effects and a script that doesn't take itself too seriously makes "Tremors" one of the most entertaining, campy monster movies of the last ten years.

Or so I've read.

Why not, I often use that line from the movie, when Fred asks Kevin if he's heard about the giant worms, and Kevin says "Oh sure, we all knew about it, we just didn't tell you!!"
