Top 50 Worst Bands Of All Time

Just heard on UK XFM radio there's a list of the 50 Worst Bands of all Time in the latest edition of US magazine Blender. Unfortunately they've only put 50-41 on the Blender web site as they want you to buy the mag. I've wasted an hour trying to search for the full list anywhere on the web. Anybody in the States bought the mag and know the complete list ? Looks a really funny read from the excerpt I've seen.

OI! Who the hell put Oingo Boingo at #16?! They're one of the greatest bands ever and make some of the funnest music. Some people just have no taste (and it's probably me). I would recommend them to everyone (especially the earlier albums). Touched by the hand of boingo... :p

i give Oakenfold credit for his early remix work (Pre94) but everything after that has been shite. Oakenfucker is what i call him.

i agree with the Pope on BOINGO...Dead Man's Party is a great album.

I actually like the Doors quite a bit, so that's about the only one on the list I disagree with. Sure, the Soft Parade was a lousy disc (what I've heard of it, anyways) and Jim Morrison really stopped trying after the second album, but I think they were just getting back on their feet with Morrison Hotel and LA Woman. Maybe they're on there 'cause Ray M(however he spells it) has been riding this horse for all it's worth for 30+ years and they're just as sick of his mouth as I am

I'm sure this list is as accurate as the one that had the best albums of the 20th century with the Backstreet Boys' Millenium somewhere on there. C'mon, The Doors and Celine Dion (I'm no fan, but she's a heck of a lot better of a singer than Tiffany, Britney Spears, and any of those loned Lilith fair singers that popped up all over the '90s). While I may agree with Spin Doctors, Blind Melon, and ICP, I think that whoever compiled this list just looked back at their record collection, which started with most stuff from 1985, and listed whatever he/she didn't listen to anymore.

i can think of more colorful alternatives than oingo boingo, skinny puppy, the doors, and the gypsy kings.

i am thinking: crazy town, john tesh, debbie gibson, hoobustank, DAVID HASSELHOUF, Toto, Chuck Mangione, Joe Satriani, Weather Report... i'd kick this editor square in the nuts for being such a twat-wad.

This is the sort of list that begs the question "Why Pat Boone, but not Pat Benatar? Why Master P, but not Tone Loc?"

Why do I have the feeling we'll all spend the next few days compiling our own lists on this subject?

But it's nice to see some progressive acts on the list, I really loathe Emerson, Lake & Palmer, Alan Parsons Project and Rick Wakeman. Yngwie Malmsteen also deserves to be included among the worst artists of the universe.

I'm just surprised that Tabsy didn't mention Yanni's inclusion on the list.

Weird, I hate prog rock but I don't mind Emerson, Lake and Palmer - "Welcome back my friends to the show that never ends" contains some of the most amazing keyboard playing ever.

Joe Satriani isn't that bad. Good guitar player, bad singer, in my opinion. This kid I used to do Service Learning with in high school had my listen to some of Satriani's stuff, and I had him listen to some old Smashing Pumpkins and lots of New Order. He eventually got the bass solo to Crystal stuck in his head.

Toto, Joe Satriani and Weather Report bad? c´mon sean, you may not like them but all of them are great musicians. all of them! especially Jaco Pastorius, bass player of WR.

don't get me wrong, i am not trying to discredit anyone's musicianship. Jaco Pastorius, Jeff Porcoro (who i looked up to when i started drumming), and Joe Satriani are good musicians, but the point i am trying to make is that a good BAND comes together, and acts as a unit. Toto, Joe Satriani's Band, and Weather Report seemed to serve as an excuse for these really good musicians to play and what came out was inconsequential.

and just what does Stephen Hague have to do with this list? If Hague remixed Kenny G, the entire music business would collapse. And if John Robbie decided to help, we just might as well all put on our headphones and crack up "Low-Life."

I just think it's a disgrace that the mighty Skinny Puppy are in there with all the dull AOR, Prog Rock and teenybop nonsense. This band were genuinely influential, experimental, and totally unique. The Blender editor or whoever compiled that list must have something against them.

Cant be arsed to do 50 of em, but here are some of my least favourite bands of all-time, in no particular order:

* The White Stripes * Jamiroquai * Fat Les * Blur * Hue & Cry * Slipknot * Westlife * Peter Gabriel (not techically a band, I know, but I just hate him) * Nirvana * Black Lace

Here are some good bands:

* New Order * Pet Shop Boys * Cuban Boys * Matchbox Twenty * U96 * The Spice Girls * Cast * Depeche Mode * Aerosmith * The Mission

Almost all eighties German HM/Trash bands were futile. Can you remember Grave Digger, Sinner, Deathrow etc...Endless list. Canadian band Anvil (still recording?) was really bad.

Progesaurus like ELP is unbearable

A good few of the bands in that list shouldn't be there. I can think of a few other that aren't there and should be, though:

1. All boy bands
2. The Strokes (biggest try-hards around right now)
3. Yeah Yeah Yeahs (bunch of fakers - Karen O's got a stylist, for God's sake!)
4. The Vines (jumped-up Nirvana wannabes. And could someone please shoot Craig Nicholls in the head? He's a total psycho!)

I really hate Rammnstein, Genesis and Meat Loaf (not a band, but completely awful).

Some bands that should definetly be on there: Slipknot Creed Any boy "band" from the late '90s Spice girls Bruce Springsteen and the e-street band, although everyone in Jersey would disagree with me. Motley Crue Pearl Jam Avril Lavigne Fanny Pack Wu Tang clan The strokes Phish The white stripes

I could go on and on. Someone did mention Nirvana, and while I think they are absolutely dull and never understood why they overshadowed Smashing Pumpkins in the early '90s when SP's Gish was far superior to Nevermind, they shouldn't be on the list.

I agree with you that the Pumpkins are superior to Nirvana, but what's the problem with the White Stripes; I did hate their last album, but Elephant is a great album.

What would be the point of putting manufactured boy bands in this list? Everyone knows most of their output isn't even relevant to serious music listeners. This way we see the REAL crimes again music by those who should have known better.

And to put the Strokes in your list is plain foolish, they write good, dirty, pop songs.
