Never. I was hoping somebody had taken the plunge.

Don't tell anyone but I couldn't help but find the prospect of Furious Franky and Deadpan Jacob amusing.

Only a week or so to go before another ring appears. On the adverts in the UK they're pushing the 'get this now and see a clip of the 3rd installment; The Return of the King Ring Binder'.

I hope that shop has enough soup available when you come 'a calling around midnight.

Actually, H, a fellow fan in my office offered to pick me up a copy from Tower when he goes for his at noon on Tuesday. I'm too old for the midnight purchase routine.

Ahead lay some difficult decisions to ponder.

I seen it yesterday. Very gory (probably the most of any in either series), a few good camera angles, several fully nekkid groupies, lots of kickably stupid teenagers, some lousy CGI effects. Laughably bad writing (but that should be expected), an overuse of overhead angles, an overuse of the word "bitch" by a certain dream demon, an overuse of the word "the" by most everyone, etc. The lead girl was fairly cute, even for a blond, but of course per regulations she did not disrobe. Scares are limited to "jump moments" when things pop out at you, so don't expect the movie to have any lasting impact. A few good fight scenes, one good explosion, a few heads and arms come off, one halfing. No funny cameos. Worth a matinee (thankfully that was all I was willing to spend) if you're a fan of either series, but don't expect much (although expect a lot more than that shitfest Jason X).

definately matinee worthy.

there's some good teen movie staples in it ie, hilarious over the top violence, nudity, gallons of blood. the setup is sorta interesting how they start out the plot, but the end is kinda dull.

still fun tho, go with a friend.

I think these reviews are putting a somewhat positive slice of cake on this horrific tabloid. I think I'll see this and consume 3 gallon of popping corn.

One of the Jason movies was meant to be really quite good recently, and I thought it was Janitor X, I guess this isn't the case.

Which tidbit was it that persuaded you, H?

I was initially excited by the 'it was very gory' line, then I became hyper sensitive at the mention of 'quite jumpy moments' and in the end I couldn't help but prepare a strong coffee at the words 'Freddy consumes crisps, and Jacob ascertains magical powers to uplift his own socks'.

Surely even the mighty Pastry Maker himself has brushed aside his blind anticipation of The Ringos, and is more than affable at the matinee showing this very Saturday.

Unfortunately I have other commitments this Saturday, flying back and forth across the U.S. and so on. Otherwise I would think long and hard about J&F, and then probably end up watching one of my DVD's.

Its the thought that counts.

So you would profess to being a 'frequent flyer'. Is it Florida and DC? - NY State to Coney Island? - Colorado to Honduras? ... obviously, the 1st class seating is pre-booked (with soup for dinner).

What say you about the obvious risks taken crossing the seemingly dicey area known only as The Bermuda Shorts Triangle?

Do you fly with a book at hand or do you just take the NY Financial paper to muse over the current standing of your extensive portfolio?

When we last flew we packed our own sandwiches.

I am flying to San Francisco this afternoon, then to Boston tomorrow evening.

I don't believe I have ever experienced the Bermuda shorts quadrangle, but I'm sure it would be quite a treat.

It's been several centuries since I last read a book. Actually that's not true. I reread LOTR after seeing TTT. In any event, newspapers are the activity of choice for flying, but not for reviewing my decimated portfolio. Packing sandwiches is a good idea, in light of the recent disappearance of airline meals.

I hope you make a triumphant return to the written word in book form soon Paddle Steamer, novellas are small enough to ingest with a salad.

I hope your flights go nice, remember to drink plenty of water and possibly obtain a pair of them funny socks that help against blue vein thrombosis.

Are there any salad-compatible novellas you particularly recommend, H?

Thanks for the socks advice. I can't say I've noticed a lot of medically correct socks being sold in airport shops, though.
