I DECIDED LAST YEAR IN NOVEMBER THAT I WAS GOING TO COLLECT THE C.DS OF EVERYTHING THAT NEW ORDER (AND ALL THE SIDE PROJECTS)HAD EVER DONE. I AM NOW BEGINNING TO REGRET THIS! I ALREADY HAVE A LOT OF STUFF ,BUT I FIND THAT SOME ITEMS ARE REDICULOUSLY PRICED.TAKE THE TRUE FAITH CDVIDEO FOR EXAMPLE .THE COPY WHICH I BOUGHT FROM EBAY WAS £31.00/$46.00 U.S.ITS NOT PARTICULARLY BRILLIANT EITHER. THERE WAS A COPY OF BLUE MONDAY CDVIDEO ON EBAY AND THAT WENT FOR £20.00/$35.00 U.S. WHY IS IT THAT ONE IS RARER THAN THE OTHER? ALSO THE PROMOS/C.D ACETATES SEEM TO GO FOR SIMILAR CRAZY PRICES HERE IN THE U.K,WHERAS IN THE STATES THEY ARE MORE READILY AVAILABLE AND A LOT CHEAPER! I AM REALLY FED UP WITH THIS COLLECTING BUSINESS. BELIEVE ME ITS BECOMING AN OBSESSION! EVENTUALLY I WILL ADD ALL THE ITEMS I"VE GOT TO A POST ON NEWORDERONLINE,WHEN I CAN GET A BREAK FROM BUYING NEW ITEMS THAT IS!, AND WHEN I GET THE TIME TO FULLY CATALOG MY ITEMS.I WILL ALSO PUT THE THINGS THAT I WANT ON THE POST SO MAYBE SOME OF YOU GUYS FROM ACROSS THE POND CAN POSSIBLY HELP ME IN MY QUEST. I RECKON THAT SINCE NOVEMBER I"VE SPENT ABOUT £300/$450 U.S AND TO COMPLETHE COLLECTION WILL PROBABLY COST ME BETWEEN £3,000 - £5,000/$4,500 - $7,500 U.S. IT WOULDNT BE SO BAD IF I WAS RICH!(WHICH I"M DEFINATELY NOT!) Hi Stevie....I sympathise with you....I have the same problems too with this obssession and my missus aint happy either....
Just as an example, with GET READY, I have 8 versions/format - OZ CD, US CD, US jewelboxADVANCE CD, US cardboardADV CD, UK cardboardADV CD, GER cardboardADV CD, Asian unauthorisedCD & UK LP....and not to mention some of these I have multiple copies....like 5 of US cardboardADV CD ( I thought it look nice, plain white sticker with red bar on cardboard, reminding me of a mini LP....)
Anyway, you had TRUE FAITH CDV for 30GBP??!!! BARGAIN!!! The current one at E-bay is priced at 51GBP!!!!
Don't worry, Stevie...the idea is to get enjoyment WHILE collecting....so its the journey that matters..... not the end result....
MY QUEST IS NEARLY OVER!!!!!! i had to have a rethink regarding what or what not to collect. i decided to collect all the official uk releases (and promos )that new order , joy division,electronic,the other two,monaco,revenge had released on cd. some of the promos are unavailable in the uk on cd format eg,blue monday 88 so whatever items i couldnt get on uk labels i managed to get us promos. factory records werent very good with cd promos and i dont think there are any out there available (or are there?) its been fun collecting this stuff but very expensive ! there are a few cds that i have been unable to track down as yet,i"ll get to that later! i would like to say a big thank you to the people who have emailed me with info, items for sale ,and general new order discussions. i can say that i learnt many things during my quest ,i have had many emails from around the world and i can finally say this----------------------------------------------------- NEW ORDER ARE A truly GLOBAL PHENOMENON! LETS HOPE THEY WILL BE AROUND FOR A FEW MORE YEARS YET! the last few of my wants are as follows; the other two- you can fly uk release cd.london records joy division- atmosphere cdvideo. factory records i think i have just about everything else. I HAVE ALL THE OFFICIAL VIDS & DVDS. i also have some rare and framed posters for sale,i would consider a trade for the cdv. i dont collect vinyl or bootlegs though ! once again thanks ! if anyone needs help to track any new order items from here in the uk then contact me. steve smith uk through neworderonline :)
