New Order The Chemical Brothers

Friday, April 29th • 7:00PM

Henry J. Kaiser Arena (Oakland)

Tickets On Sale Sunday, March 13th at 10AM

Bill Graham Presents is proud to announce a special performance by New Order with The Chemical Brothers at Henry J Kaiser arena in Oakland. The show is on Friday, April 29th at 7:00pm. This is a one-off performance and is not part of a tour.

Rising from the ashes of the legendary British post-punk unit Joy Division, the enigmatic New Order triumphed over tragedy to emerge as one of the most influential and acclaimed bands of the 1980s; embracing the electronic textures and disco rhythms of the underground club culture many years in advance of its contemporaries, the group's pioneering fusion of new wave aesthetics and dance music successfully bridged the gap between the two worlds, creating a distinctively thoughtful and oblique brand of synth pop appealing equally to the mind, body, and soul.

The act with the first arena-sized sound in the electronica movement, the Chemical Brothers united such varying influences as Public Enemy, Cabaret Voltaire, and My Bloody Valentine to create a dance-rock-rap fusion which rivalled the best old-school DJs on their own terms — keeping a crowd of people on the floor by working through any number of groove-oriented styles featuring unmissable samples, from familiar guitar riffs to vocal tags to various sound effects.

Tickets for New Order go on sale THIS SUNDAY, March 13th at 10AM at BGP.com and at all Ticketmaster outlets including Tower Records, Wherehouse Music, Ritmo Latino, select Save Mart and select FYE stores, and Tix Bay Area in Union Square. To charge tickets by phone, call (408) 998-TIXS, (510) 444-TIXS, (209) 485-TIXS or (707) 528-TIXS. Advance tickets are $40.00 for general admisson plus applicable service charges.

Oh, btw, New Order is written LARGER than the Chemical Brothers in the press release... hence they should play last I guess.

Well, concerts where people are sitting are quite dull, isn't it?

I've seen this ONCE in Toronto when I saw The Cure.. some people were yelling because of people standing in front of them... C'mon!

I say we should win the tickets because we both haven't seen the Order, and we have ridiculously high post counts. Oh yeah, and we're poor. :p

I will use it if I have to, but I have an account with ticket master all ready, and would be easier.

Well, there were some seats around the floor from what I remember, but yes, it is a standing venue with plenty of space, let's hope the audience is a bit more lively than the last time NO played in the building.

How about one that says "PLAY DECADES, YOU OLD FUCKERS!!"

I read the post, it tells us the onsale date. I was just thinking if there was a pre-sale, it would be before Sunday at 10am.

Now if you want Jetstream, get your penises out.

I read one of the posts and misunderstood what was meant by pre-sale. I thought you meant there was going to be a pre-sale, not that you can't give the tickets away before they go on sale.

There is no pre-sale.

I asked if we could have one for us, it's impossible to organize in so little time.

Religious people just don't follow the right God. I'll be plunking down $40 on Sunday morning so I can worship at the alter of the cult Order in Oakland.

I just checked, every ticketmaster in Calgary is closed on Sundays exept one but its on the other side of town and does not open until 12:00, so that will be 1 hour after tickets go on sale Calgary time. So I have no choise but to get them on line or phone.
