Bought tickets two nights ago but don't land in Dublin from Glasgee till 3.30 so it's not like we're making a proper day of it.

Im also going to oxegen and im trying to do T in the park the day before.But im a bit lost as to how i get to Ireland in time,who are you flying with? i really want to try and do both of them even though i dont have a ticket for t in the park i hope to manage to get in some way or another.It would be good to meet up with others that are doing both days.

Aer Lingus. 2.30 out of Glasgow. Had a good search around the net but it does appear to be the first one of the day!

Luton to Glasgow on Saturday morning was, I think, 35 notes.
Glasgow to Dublin on Sunday arvo was 51.10 (I have the e-mail here!).
Still not booked a return to London from Dublin, waiting to see what flights everyone else was going to do first.

At this stage we have no idea what time NO will be on stage - I expect around 8PM but thats only a guess. When the line-up times are finalised we can sort out transport - I've no intention of leaving any NO fan stuck in the airport if they fly in late.

Last year they didn't release the timings until the *SATURDAY*
Thankfully NO are on the Sunday, so we will know, from someone...

I know what you mean, but NO are the headline on their stage on the Sunday so I can't see them being on much before 9pm. They've gotta get there from T as well, if the first flight is at 2.30 then I can't see them getting to the site much before we do, can you ?. They aint gonna be going to the expense of chartering a flight.
Yes but im sure NO wont be relying on the cheapest form of transport to get there, im sure other companies will be flying earlier, and if they aint then we might be in the strange situation of having them on our flight,unlikely but a nice thought.
I presume it will be about 8 oclock they will be on, but its just a worry - you never know.
I saw the advert for this event in yesterdays Irish Times, and I can't see anything worth going to on the Saturday. The only groups I or anyone else I know want to see are on the Sunday. Ill probably just get a Sunday day ticket.
Hope the Streets aren't on the same time as New Order. I reckon NO will be put just below the Killers on the main stage. The Killers are pretty huge over here - esp with the kind of crowd that go to Oxegen.
New Order are headlining the 2nd Stage. The lineup always corresponds exactly to the T in the Parlk line up, bar a few line up changes.

This has been confirmed by MCD now. Last act on The Ticket Stage (named after a newspaper and not a need for extra tickets...)
Playing directly after The Doves, it seems. Last act on the second stage == the oldies, unfortunately... it was The Cure on Saturday last year 
Luckily for me at least, Feeder are on the main stage earlier in the day... on of my 'secret shame' bands, them...

I was at Oxegen last year and on the Sunday bands finished around 11.30pm. On the Saturday I went to see the Cure who finished around 1am.

Anyone coming over mail me their contact details (mobile phone number would be handy) so that we all get to meet up.
We are arriving around 11:00 am on Thursday the 7th and leaving around the same time on Tuesday the 12 th. That means we ve got a full 5 day stay in Dublin :) . As for festival meet-up it is we 'll let the locals decide its details. However, we do have CuanaD's contact details at the mo and we will meet with him on Thursday or Friday - anyone interested for an earlier meet up as well, feel free to email me, feline, or ef. ;)

Are you sure there are no flights that will get you home early enough? I tried to phone you but 'the number you have called is not recognised'. So I emailed you back with my phone number & a ryanair flight possability.

Cheers Conrad, but it definitely ain't my year for seeing the Order. Found out five minutes before going on stage last night that my father's just been rushed to hospital, so naturally I will be heading back to Worcester to be at the hospital, and there is no way I am gonna be able to get to Heathrow for the outward flight, let alone a different return flight. Enjoy the gig, I'm sure that they will turn it on for you all.

I'm just home from the 1st day. Managed to get a weekend media ticket, but not camping (thank heavens). Ian Brown was fantastic. Those Roses songs sounded amazing.
The stage NewOrder are playing is pretty small - but suitable. Headlining it is just about perfect for them - given their Irish fanbase is pretty small. I think it will be a good night tomorrow.
Thanks to Conrad again for the ticket offer. Apologies again for the late notice - I only found out last night I got this pass. I do appriciate the offer Mr Cuana D Give me a text when you arrive tomorrow on site - I dont think my friends are too keen on NewOrder.
If the Vikings are coming, Please bring and put up the Flag!!! It would be aces to see you people, and unlike Glasto, not many fans have pirate flags out there.

Met up with 'the Greeks' last night - top class - amazed at how good their english is, says so much about our lazyness/school system that we irish can hardly speak our own language & rely on the english instead, while most europeans have 2 or 3 languages:( Anyway, it was a great night with great company - looking forward to more tonight now!!

I'll type quietly, my head hurts a bit
That was a GOOD night. The band were on great form & so were the crowd. I traveled with 'The Greeks': Elias (& his sister - a lurker here) & feline; we met up with MYOB at the festival about 4 hours before the gig. Great day - fabulous weather, lots of seriously burned Irish drunks. Made our way to the front as Doves were finishing & got our place near Hooky's mike - about 4 rows back. Then they mooved the mike to our right a couple of yards
, but thats when we saw the Viking contingent - spoke to Clockwork C & John Giles & then the gig started.
Effing brilliant!!! - moshed our little hearts out, screamed every lyric - you know, what we all want from a NO gig
After got introduced to the rest of the viking crowd - names will come back to me eventually
- we all headed back to Dublin to get the in. - Myself & Ness had been designated drivers so we needed to catch upon the rest.
In the end quiet a few went to bed but me, the greeks, DoN, Ness & one non-nool friend from NorthernIreland ended up in a 'club' called Copper-faced Jacks - music was shite, DJ had no NO, but the beer was good, so me & ness caught up on our drinking anyway.
And thats where I got my Vikings badge!!!!

Anyways, my head is not clear yet, so i'll post more about the gig later. Just want to say, it was great to finally meet up with all these famous vikings - top men & women every one of them
Tip: if you want to be easilly seen in a festival crowd, wear a BRIGHT GREEN nool t-shirt - it worked for me

Bernard was on top form. Hooky looked a bit distracted actually. They only played a two song encore because the whole thing was to have been closed down by 11pm. The crowd got a choice between Atmosphere and She's Lost Control. SLC won and then they wrapped with fucking BM. Great stuff (except for BM).

Im basically covered by what the others have already said here, especially by CuanaD's posts, who after, all was our best beer companion and our personal guide to Dublin (it is just impossible to thank him enough :) ), besides we will meet him earlier this night before we leave tomorrow for a last (maybe a bit more modest) round :) .
As for the gig, it was oblvious that we 'd love it no matter what (after all it was our first ever NO gig), but i must say it was better than i actually expected: Bernard was in such a great mood, Hooky was in his (usual) great mood, in 2 words, the majority that preffered "the fu%$%in Foo Fighters (the exact words Bernie used ), simply dont know what they missed .
Was also lovely to finally meet all these ppl that so far, i only knew from their avatar and screen names, especially Don and Nes who joined us for the big night out that followed the festival :) .
P.S. My english arent THAT great, especially with that ugly greek accent of mine, and the Greek educational system is so crap, that is simply ablsolutely incapable of teaching the kids any language - Greek parents they pay private schools to teach their kids, because its a necesity really, rather than they love knoweldge . You native english speakers dont need to learn, say greek or something, so that explains it ;) .

We arrived onsite around 1pm, in a (failed) attempt to catch some bands in the “New Tent”. We mainly hung around the main stage all day. Feeder are a terrible group, and on top of it all the lead singer is a fucking Tory. Audioslave weren’t great – although they played 4 rage songs, and it was great to see Tom Morello. Mike Skinner had a terrible set – and seemed to suffer from the same “crowd there to see someone else” syndrome that NewOrder suffered from in Glastonbury. I had planned to get in LCD soundsystem but got a call from a friend who was interviewing Hooky, so I gave him some pointers and questions instead.
Then over to the ticket stage to see Doves – who were fantastic. Its surprising that they aren’t really huge in my opinion. The only downside to that gig was the seriously over the top “security” men at it. At one stage it looked like these steroid abusing bell-ends were going to provoke a lot of violence.
Then I decided that the best spot for the gig would be around and about Hookys setup (“love to London” on the Amps), and over there I met CuanaD, MYOB, Jonny Giles, ATR, the Greeks, and big Al Jarvis. There were loads of others (I’m remembering faces not names).
I forget most of the inter-song banter – and couldn’t really hear it in the first place because I was “down front”, but Bernard was being quite funny. It was also fantastic to get a close up on that dancing during Bizarre Love Triangle.
There was a good crowd around me jumping around. In particular I remember Alan Jarvis, some tall Irish lad, and a small asian lad with a white T realy getting into it. Outside this wider group of about 15 were some girly-girls and a load of motionless types down the front – including some guy with an ironic mullet (very 2002).
Regret and Krafty sounded good, but the crowd didn’t really get into it until Crystal. Then Transmission (which-again sounded amazing) and Love Vigilantes. WFTSC wasn’t really known by the audience, hopefully it will be played on any future tours. True Faith and Bizarre love Triangle sounded great, and everyone was really getting into the dancy numbers. LWTUA was a real crowd pleaser – and then my favourite – Temptation.
She’s lost control and Blue Monday also got the crowd going – and having heard neither of them live before, I thought it was a great way to wrap up. There was some lad beside me who seemed to have an outer body experience when BlueMonday was played. However much we talk about it online – in front of 90% of fans at a festival, the band should play BlueMonday, BLT etc. Like it or not, if they launched into Sunrise or Lets Go, there would be a lot of leavers and about 14 people bopping along.
Ideally they would play a smaller indoor venue for fans like us at some stage – but that’s not likely since they aren’t too keen on touring. It’s a pity really – but what can we do?
Anyhow, I didn’t head into the city centre later and can proudly say I haven’t been in Copper-Face-Jacks in 4and1/2 years:) I would have liked to have gone, but I was wet through with sweat, and extremely tired after the gig. By the time we got off the Bus in town (1:30am) I didn’t think there was much left in it and decided to head home for a shower and hot drink. I was feeling pretty unwell, and even now feel like my kidneys are fucked (and I don’t drink alcohol). I was much more excited at this gig than in Glastonbury. The lack of any Coldplay Contingent coupled with the good weather made it a really enjoyable day. I think got a little dehydrated during the gig, and am still suffering.
Anyhow, the memories survive. I think the band enjoyed it and it went really well – espically after the Lansdowne Road debacle. Hopefully they will play a proper gig in Ireland on the next UK tour.

Yep! I was about three rows back from the stage directly in front of Barney. Then I got semi-pushed over nearer to Hooky's side but I wasn't complaining. Hard to complain about anything when the world's greatest band is standing on a stage in front of you....except for the surfer at the end. I think he was at the wrong gig.

my mate text me last night and he said it was good as well. Which is quite amazing. Did anyone fook up on anything?
Well at last I got to see the Order live. Bought Blue Monday and TPK in 85 and have listened to NEw Order so many times. Was to young to go to the SFX in 85 and was in hospital for the Peace Together thing in 93 (still have the unused ticket stub believe it or not) and was out of the country for the Chillis support. Amazing so it was. Was about 6 rows back just to the left of the stage (Phils side) in me new Nike Celtic top. Went down to the ticket stage for the Doves to get a good vantage point and noticed that it was very easy to get up the front. In between bands most people enjoyed the unusually fab weather for Ireland and sat in the grass. By the time Doves started their was only bout 100 at the front of the stage but by the time they finished a brilliant set they were well packed. Was worried that most of the crowd would disappear for the Order but most hung around. I was never as interested in seeing a changeover at a festival b4 and to see the various pieces been set up was a thrill in itself. By the time the boys went on stage the crowd looked sparse but by a couple of songs in it had swelled considerably. I was actually suprised that for a band who has really neglected Ireland in the past (as everywhere else I suppose) with regards to gigs they got a much larger crowd than Doves (even though the new doves album had done much better here than WTSC). Barney was in magnificent form which was really suprising considering most of the impression i got from the site on this tour was that he wasn't in the best of form. Very sarcastic and funny he said that going by the size of the crowd the foo fighters must be bigger in irelansd but they sounded like a poormans fall. anyway during the gig I think they were suprised by the reaction. Crystal got a really big reaction which is not suprising considering it was used in an ad overhere for a sports retailer on tv. Barney said the weather was great in "our" sorry your lovely country for a change b4 adding "I'd better be careful what I say better i" obviously realising the tricky politics and past history between ireland and the uk. Hooky pointed at one stage to one of the fellows in front of him and told him he was going to have a heart attack (the person in the crowd that is).Wonder if it was one of the posters here? Barney announced during the encore that they were going to play 3 songs but due to time constaints he had been told by the big guy who may have been tour manager that they were only allowed 2 songs. He also slagged of the big fellow introducing him as his dad and bereting him for weariong an outrageous Hawian Shirt. Told hime it was a disgrace to wear such ashirt in Ireland. Barney also made fun of himself telliing us "What a great crowd we were" b4 adding that thats what was on the autocue. Gig itself was perfect. Synths were a bit low during BLT and True FaITH but thats only a small quibble. Me missus who likes the order but who is not as biased as me couldn't believe how good they were as I had warned her that they could be dodgy live.She like us all wondered how they are not the biggest band in the world but after seeing some of the bands on the big stage and the dodgy sound I was thankful for them playing on the second stage. Think they picked up a few more fans in ireland. Also for those who want to know tshirts on sale were the blue monday floppy sleeve on and the NO cover for WTSC. Also say the UP JD one on sale as well. Slan

The Rip off factor was huge, and the Extorsion of the timetable was something else. Food & Drink prices seemed to be in multiples of €5. I guess thats the way at these things.

Yep Clockwork. However I must disagree with you on Ian Brown. I wanna be adored was class but his voice was terrible. Was a bit of a grump as well. Left after 3 or 4 songs. Saw one of the tribute stome Roses Experience or something in sligo recently and the singer was better than Ian.
Photos of the gig - not too good due to poor light, but you will get the idea. Second page is a must - Bernard in the cap that caused so much controversy and post-show discussion. With his hooded jacket, little legs in brown jeans and baseball cap, he resembled a novelty dressed teddy bear. Thought he looked great!

The gig for me was the best so far, due to close proximity to stage, quality of their performance and being sober, I was in awe for the whole thing. Bernard's between song quips and dancing were both of an exceptional standard.
Fantastic to meet and share the passion of the Order with Elias and CuanaD - lovely man, I was proud to pin on your Vikings badge. Shame the pub closed when it did, could have gone on all night. :)
Actually on the subject of vikings was it my imagination or did i see someone dressed up as a viking. Was either that or a roman outfit. Must have been feckin baked in the heat

I was at the gig yesterday too and went up the front for Josh Ritter to reserve a place and stayed there until NO. (i.e. waited thru all of Josh Ritter and Doves). This was about my 7 or eight time seeing them - last was abou 1990 and it was up there with the best of them. I've never seen them in such good form.
Just to add to some of the banter posted by others: Bernard Sumner introduced Love Vigilantes with something like: "I can't tell you what this next song is about because I haven't a f**king clue. Actually, it's about my experiences in Vietnam. I wasn't in Vietnam so my experiences were nothing. Yes, the song is about nothing."
At another point he goes: "We usually play a slow song next in our set - Hooky's pushing on a bit on and he needs a rest."
Anyway, managed to end up with one of the setlists complete with footprints. Also got some nice photos being in the front.
Highlight for me was hearing She's Lost Control live for the first time - absolutely amazing.
I think the band were genuinely surprised by the warmth of the crowd towards them and BS stated that "he hoped to come back and pay again in Ireland sometime" as he left the stage.
I picked up one of the Unknown Pleasures styled T-shirts - it just has the dying star graphic with no text anywhere. I had to explain to the girl serving that it was Joy Division and direct her to it in the rows of shirts. I then asked her how much and she had to go check because they hadn't sold any.
Blue Monday shirt looked like they had got the amount of colours along the side wrong altho' I would have needed the record with me to check. I wonder are they losing 2p on each T-Shirt sold :).

I nearly would have preferred if NO had been on earlier - so that we all could have got a decent few hours drinking in afterwards - getting to know DoN(BIG thank you again for the badge) & yourself was brilliant, but it would have been even better to sit & talk shit with all the traveling party (& Clock & MYOB he had to leave after Frasers, bloody busses to Maynoth dont run after 2am)- looks like they all got a good nights sleep anyway - they all look sprightly in those morning after shots

I diddn't notice Ian Browns voice being anything worse than usual. Nice to see he is still pulling the same on-stage moves as always.

I do have a vivid memory of Bernard fondling his crotch and focussed on that rather than accompanying dialogue!
Steve's 'Working Men's Club' style drum rolls enhance the amusement value!
Superb gig, the setlist has been explained well so i need not repeat it, Barneys adidas cap was highly amusing, Jarvo simply turned round to me and said "what the fook does he think he looks like!"
Someone chucked a cap on stage mid set which Hooky picked up and put on his head to a great cheer from the crowd before throwing it back at the crowd. Ness thought it might have been a sly dig at Barney but its just typical Hooky being the showman aint it!?
Great to meet all the Irish Order and the Greek Order out there top night out and a great set (probably the most professional i've heard em for ages as well!)
Oh and if anyone that remembers the Academy video, well Barney did the same finger pointing thing during Temptation which got another cheer from the 'Order faithful :D

For me the Gig has only ended today - :( We left the Greek Order off to the airport this morning for their connecting flight to Rome - I'm gonna miss you guys. Now I will be on a huge downer for a while - since we met on Saturday my life has been Totally NEWorder (with added Alcohol) - as it SHOULD be! Now I'm afraid its back to the real world for a while

It took us longer to walk to the car than to drive to Dublin!!! We (MYOB, Greeks, & non-nool-from-NI-called Kenny - top bloke he is, hope he joins nool) got in around 1 & went to Frasers on O'connellst - it was meant to be open till 2 & the Viking's hotel was only 100 yards away from it. BUT: 1) they didnt get there till 1.45 & 2) it shut at 1.30
So we finished our second round (& got Ness in for 1 'caus she was sober till then) & taxied to SlapperFace. I believe they closed at 3 - we were probably out of it by 3.30 - not sure of that part 'caus I was 'out of it' before then I know I didnt get to bed till 5.30, after chatting to the Greeks for a while at their place & stuff. What I do remember was that it was a great night, after a great gig. Vivid memories of the girls putting down quite a few guys who were hitting on them - that was fun to watch
I'd love to give a full account, but even sober my memory is the pits
Also, how come I'm average height when the rest of you guys are so effin tall
And I was back in Maynooth at 2:29 all on my own due to having the option of Dublin Bus or a 60 quid taxi 
Met the English Order for a few minutes at Oxegen, as well as Clockwork C; was at Oxegen with the Greeks and CuanaD and Kenny for most of the day.
Pic of the bouncer reminds me - Hooky dancing above(technically straddling would be more accurate ) the other bouncer - who was bobbing along to the track with a happy smile on his face - until Hooky bent down & rubbed his head
man the concert was soooo good, i sprinted from my tent when i realised the time, made itthere and thoughtthere wasnt too big a crowd, after they started i looked back and the crowd was HUGE, wished they played ceremony but i still hope they are back next year

Yeah that bouncer had a serious case of small guy syndrome alright. He took his job waaay too seriously. During Doves, 3 guys behind me tried to drag him into the crowd for a kicking.
And to top it all he has a squeaky voice too: "Get down! Get Doooown! Get Down or I'm coming out there!" (To some girl up on shoulders of bloke).

Yes they were all a little bit gung-ho alright. I was on a young chappy's shoulders for part of Blue Monday and one lovely bouncer came charging through the crowd to ask me to get down.
I pretended I didn't hear him so he then resorted to an attempt at some persuasive humour - "yes love, I know, this is your favourite song but you really have to get down now" - to which I replied "actually 'love', it's my least favourite song and I was planning on doing this for YSF which they inevitably would have played had you fuckers not shut them down one song early.

Here goes my first post!
The gig was absolutely fabulous!!! Bernard was in a great mood, Hooky was great (as always!), Steve was just excellent! I'm thrilled that I got the chance to see them live. I've seen a couple of live NO DVDs, but it was nothing compared to what I experienced there! It was perfect, everyone should have been there! What amazed me the most and made me appreciate NO more was the fact that, even though they have tones of songs to play at their gigs, they perform "best hits" songs, so that even if sb is not a fan, he/she can get in the mood. This is the perfect proof that NO respect their audience!
I met some of the neworderonline members, but I'm terrible with names... I got to talk to Ness, DoN and MYOB a bit more after the gig at the pub (I loved you, guys! ), but CuanaD was excellent (thanx for everything, Conrad!!!)
I'm miserable about leaving Ireland and coming back to my greek reality, but, hopefully, I'll get over it!
PS. Sorry, Conrad, that "Greek Order" had a drink (ok, it was more than "a" drink) without you, but you are thousands of miles away!:\ohwell:

Oh good god the Oxegen gig was so good. I knew going that NEW ORDER would be the highlight of the weekend but still it took me by the hair - it honestly did. I couldn't get over how good they were. I think I even starting crying while simulatiously singing at the top of my voice. Bizarre Love Triangle!!!!! The crowd beside us were brilliant too. Its what I love about NEW ORDER gigs - surrounded by people that take it so bloody serious and yet run amuc when they hear the best band in the world. Singing, smiling and jumping. Listening to Tempation now and I wish I was there again.
What a end NO were to a great festival. HOOKY was to dogs bollox!! He sure knows how to move around. I think I even enjoyed it better than the MOVE Festival. DOVES & NEW ORDER BACK TO BACK AGAIN...........Oh Happy days.........lets wish for more!! :)

Also, anyone who's ever been to a gig with me will tell you that I am MISTER stress. Won't do anything at all that stands a one in a billion chance of stopping me seeing the band. No drink or drugs even. That lasts until the intro music for $BAND plays, by which time moost people ar convinved I am thworst party pooper on Earth. Then I explode and turn into an uncontrollable ball of incadescent energy, which typically lasts many hours after everyone has gone to bed, and often for days. I can out party a beer tap when I'm like that.
Anyway, I'm glad you all lkied it *mumble grumble huff*

That was taken when 'The Streets' were playing on the main stage in the background - you can see not many people were interested in seeing them! The sound really was far better for the Ticket stage anyway.

The Streets were terrible anyway! I would prefer better sound when the Killers were on, but what can you do? You're right, the ticket stage had better sound, but even if it didn't, we wouldn't pay that much attention to that part of the gig, would we? :D

Don't worry about it, most people can't name all the countries in Europe (there are too many of them now!), but the thing is that Europe is not your country, it's the continent our countries are in, so it's not the same thing as not being able to name all the states or areas or whatever of your own country. Anyway, lots of people do the same mistake about England. They even tend to call Scotch and Welsh people English! British is ok, I guess, but English...

192Kbps (IIRC) MPEG 1 Layer 2 off Astra or 32Kbps RealMedia over the web... which do you think is going to be cleaner and more reliable?
At best I'll get this bit for bit on my DVB card (new acquisition but no Astra 2 cable to it yet), at utter "worst" it'll be from a Comag box, over optical audio to a DVD.
Well, it depends on the specifics of the astra stream, some of the are FOUL, but nonetheless point taken.
However, tis accademic in my case, as I faceplanted my pillow around 1700hrs and didn't move til 2000hrs, so I'm not terribly impressed with myself.
MYOB thinks he should have got a good copy - hes sorting it out over the next couple of days & then we can move this to 'the other' thread

OMG, that's the closest thing to perfect they've pulled in years, I'm genuinely stunned. I suspect we have to thank some fiendish foul play from a crak team of RTE boffins over the summer, cos it sounds AWESOME. I mean they didn't even make a pigs bollox of SLC. And has Steve figured out Barney's "accidental" forgetting the arangement of BM, and found a way to knock the HD back into sync?
I am scum, I am not fit to walk the earth. Broke or not, sick and sore or not, I shoulda been there. Then again, as I mentioned, HAD I gone, they would have sucked, I am a jonah's jonah on such things :)
