Yes, it's the brazilian festival... apparently they offered the same amount they offered the Pixies last year and it was turned down by the management...
I can understand why it pisses off brazilians, I felt the same way in 2001 when they didn't tour the east coast..
Especially that Brazil is one of the top countries on here! so they do have a fan base.

New Order comprise three blokes pushing fifty, all with children under the age of five.
Look at Pixies gigging itinerary from last year. They played EVERYWHERE - New Order are obviously a bit more cautious about where they do and don't play.
And it's hardly financially viable to schlep all the way over to South America for just one gig, now is it?
well, the thing is it wouldn´t be just one gig but 3, 4 or 5. that is Rio, São Paulo, Porto Alegre (unlikely nowadays), Buenos Aires and Santiago. at least that´s what other bands did last year like Primal Scream, Morrissey, Pet Shop Boys and many others, and Placebo in a couple of days. you see, the only way local producers can bring such bands is working together between countries. the most expensive (believe it or not) is the flight tickets for everyone. so having 4 or 5 concerts in the region helps dividing per 5 the costs of transportation because internal flights don´t cost much for the producers. that´s the key so if New Order comes will come for the "package" and not just to one destination. simple as that, complicated as that. because that means playing 5 concerts in (maybe) 2 weeks time.
so what the band said was "no" to go just to Curitiba. and surely that was because the producers couldn´t afford all the costs by themselves. besides Curitiba is not as appealing as Rio, have that in mind too!
BUT i know first hand that an argie producer (the most important one in latin america for 20 years now) is trying to bring New Order to the whole region. it´s very difficult but we´ll see. it could be next year too, after all there´s another album waiting to be release in the short run.
Can understand the 'package' arrangement needed to attract bands from Europe, would not be worth travelling that far for one Festival. I also think New Order's priorities might be a bit different to many of their fans when it comes to gigs.
I would guess, their top three priorities are:
- Family
- Family
- Family
So to make 2 weeks away appealing to them, the deal has gotta be right.
Don't get me wrong, I don't mind them don't doing it... I was just reporting the news for the brazilian fans...

the one i did years ago? i haven´t seen it for a while but i don´t think it had much acceptance. that´s one of those things you need some support from the media. btw, i don´t know whom to send it anyway! any ideas? ;)

I'd print it and send it by mail to the management... if I were you.
