What I've heard is they are gonna play on Thursday 14th July.
This place is a fcuker to get to. 170 miles [or km ] north of Gothenburg in the middle of nowhere. Kraftwerk played at this Festival in 2004 and ATR looked into it then thought better of it.
Any Swedes on here got any advice on how to get there from Gothenburg by public transport ?
I'm not even gonna try and find out logistics for this one - too depressing! The boss is already looking at me a bit strange with my motley collection of Fridays and Mondays off most weeks in July, not to mention the 30th of June, so I'd better not try and squeeze some more leave!
the easiest way to get to Arvikafestivalen, is by train (Gothenburg to Karlstad and than train to Arvika) or Stockholm to Karlstad (and, obvious, train to Arvika). The distance between Karlstad and Arvika is about 70 km. And Karlstad - used to my hometown a year ago... - is located between Stockholm and Oslo. Arvikafestivalen started as a "synthgroup"-festival, but is more mixed up these days. If my mind to fails me too much, the attandence usually is between 11.000 or 15.000 people.

BiljettDirect sells only threedays tickets before. Am I right, that they will sell one-day-tickets only on the festival gate? Do you think it will be sold out when I travel to festival (from Finland) without ticket?
Quite ironic really, the Scandinavian gig being the only one the Vikings won't be pillaging!

I believe JG still intends to give it a shot though. I'm getting stressed about too much hols - might need another day for Turin given the ridiculous prices for coming back Sunday now (they haven't half shot up!)
I've got this ridiculous situation whereby I have 30 days of holiday left between now and the end of August, but I cannot use ten of them in that period because of work pressure and short staffing, so I have 20 to use in four months. Fourteen of them will be spent on a Greek island, so the rest is dotted Fridays and Mondays! Just hope I can afford all these gigs - at least I may make some ale money on this V ticket!

Well this seems to be the nearest place for me to watch New Order live on this summer. Primavera Festivals in Spain would be fantastic to experience. Not just because of NEW order, but also because of the other top performers like M83, Sonic Youth, Gang of Four and so on.. Arvikafestvalen's program seems to be a bit lame and weird for me.. that makes me really consider about that three day ticket. Maybe it would be a nice experience.
Finding this Arvika wouldn't be any problem. Just about a year ago we (me and my mate) went to see Kraftwerk in Rockefeller, Oslo. We drove trough Karlstad with our car and the road between Stocholm and Oslo seemed to be in perfect conditition.

Does anyone have any info on an Arvika radio webcast tonight? I've been trying to search for one but can't find anything on the net. I'll be listening to P3 just in case...they've broadcast it in recent years.

Cant be arsed re typing so I'll just say it was good gig, well worth the trip and no sign of Kasabian anywhere.

P3 is broadcasting from the festival (possibly pre-recorded) on Friday 20:03-21:00 and Saturday 20:03-22:00. Not sure if the boys will show up.

The smallest festival me and Wayne have been to, possibly cos it's a bit of an outpost in rural Sweden, 4 hours train ride from Stockholm. Also the most picturesque setting I've seen a gig at since the Gorge Ampitheatre in Washingtion State which overlooked the columbia river. Set in a forest, all the stages and stalls were dotted amongst tall trees and greenery. Almost a village fete with a big stage in it.
Anyways the gig.....
Highlights:
A young and enthusiastic local crowd. Loads of dancing, pushing and shoving down the front 
Barney singing "you can ring my bell-ell-ell, ring my bell" over the drum opening of SLC. Has to be said Hooky didn't look to pleased with this.
Hooky knocking out the first few bars of DNE between KW1 and Sirens.
Phil and Hooky rocking out [can we say that round here?] at the end of Blue Monday with axe-wielding geetar solos.
Barney coming back on stage to apologise for Hooky and Phil's over indulgence at the end of BM. Hooky looked very unhappy with this so carried on with his bass solo.
Barney grabing the mic again to explain that Phil and Hooky were warming up for the next gig where they are playing with Deep Purple.
Hooky holding his bass above his head, then chucking into the pit between stage and rail with a face like thunder!

Me and Wayne having to get the 5.40am train out of Arvika to catch our flight. Didn't even bother putting the tent up, just partied thru! Good job I don't need much sleep :D
Taking the wrong route. Should've flown to Oslo not Stockholm, would've been about 3 hours closer !

According to this page, P3 online are broadcasting 2 hours of Arvika tomorrow evening, 20.00 - 22.00. Not sure if Sweden are an hour ahead of us? Better tune in at 7pm just to make sure. Hopefully they'll play a bit of NO's set.
Hooky were in really good form on this gig. He was all over the stage and he actually climbed on the speaker tower so he could get out to the sides and play! Then at the end of BM he threw the bass hard to the stage floor, looking really pissed 
. Has he ever thrown his bass anytime before?

Many thanks Happy 1, you have the most beautiful avatar I've ever seen, becuase that's my favourite moment in music history! Erm, should we worry about Hooky and Barney? Last time Hooky threw his bass I think it was Reading 93... I think Barney's joke was funny, Hooky shouldn't have taken it so seriously (if he really has). I just hope they don't really have problems for this small silly things... they should have learnt to deal with each other and have went through very hard times, they should just enjoy what they're doing now, and I think they do...
kind of weird....got P3 on at the moment, their listing shows 'direkt från Arvidsfestivalen' betwen 20.00 and 22.00, which I'm presuming means direct from Arvika Festival. The presenter occasionally says Arvika and I've heard New Order mentioned 3 or 4 times, but they don't seem to be broadcasting any of the festival!! They're just playing stuff from CD.
Ok, I was there, we drove from Finland to see them. Great gig as mentioned, Me and my mate we were on the front row just towards Hooky. I took a lot of pictures, have to download and check them and put them up to my website. Will post a link... My mate got half of the setlist, some bloke got other part but I managed to picture it, that other bloke from here? Festival crowd sucked, they were just too pissed and too swedish;) Area was nice and Hooky's flying bass made it all worthwhile!!
Ace gig! My first proper NO gig (I did catch the Gretton memorial which, although not a gig, still ranks as my first "NO experience"!) and what a great one it was!
As was said before, the crowd was excellent. Before the gig I was worried whether the audience would really be familiar with the Order, especially the older ones. But once they crashed into Love Vigilantes and the pogoing continued at an even higher pace, I knew it was going to be a good one. Transmission in particular was mental, a highlight for me from the gig. Thanks to everyone from here for giving their all on thursday! And thanks to JG (can't probably have been anyone else!) for the shouts of "New OR-dah!" before they came on. Set the mood perfectly for what was to come!
As they were the main headlining band of the whole festival, they were allowed a bit longer stagetime and we got 14 songs instead of the 12 in some previous ones. No surprises but it didn't really matter as it was the first time for me anyway and the band was in top form. The comments before SLC ("a song we haven't played for 25 years" etc. were indeed frustrating, but were made up with the hilarious intro and a generally excellent version of the song. Another highlight of the gig for me was Barney dropping the first few lines of the final verse "I could live a little better with the myths and the lies..." which is my favorite JD moment!
Some extra gig banter from Barney:
In the beginning: "We really like your country. That's an original thing to say isn't it? We're witty mancunians."
There was a (maybe) 5-year old kid on his dad's shoulders for the whole duration of the gig. "Look at that kid over there. He's really getting into it. We'll dedicate this next song to him." (can't remember which song)
The whole set was actually dedicated to Ian because of his birthday. Which is probably also the reason we got all 4 of the JD songs which they've been playing.
Top gig and a top festival. Now that I got my first taste of Order live, I want more! Can't wait for the next set of gigs!
