Here's a list of people I know who are going to New Order at the Aragon and the afterparty for sure but are not noolers, well some of them at least. But they are New Order fans otherwise, they would'nt buy tix for the show :P
Me, Lindsey, Lisa, Holly, Erika (not going to show), Erik, Victor (not going to the show), Mo, Peter, Tony, Scott, and obviously Nic and Wenorder.
we'll have a nice sized group heading over together after the show :)
who else is going? :)
Count me in!!!!!!!!!![]()
Oh yeah... and my wife...![]()
GO VIKINGS<<--Shameless plug for my website.
WTF!!!! a vikings fan in Wisconsin!!!!! Awesome :) Being a die hard bears fan, I hate the packers. Don't care too much for the Vikings either but I enjoy it when they beat the Packers. Supposedly thats more of a meaningful rivalry to packer fans than the bears/packers. My favorite things about the vikings.... the team colors and Robert Smith (why'd he retire so early?)
Wenorder has a yearly neworderonline.com fantasy football leauge. you should join when we start up again late August.
See you at the Afterparty :)

I also own a hosting company, so if you ever want to move from ISPrime, and to a local company let me know. I know the guys at ISPrime, they run a tight ship. The world is becoming so tiny next thing you are going to say is you are that guy living next door that I haven't met yet.. lol..

You just missed a contract to host THIS site... ![]()
Hmm, I might come, if I can convince my girlfriend to come. I just can't wait to see the Chicago show!! I just wish I could catch more than one show, but I guess Chicago will have to do.

Maybe we could all hook up for a beer at the concert.

I always liek company. I used to host parties in MAdison back int he 80s, 4-5 half barrels every other friday on Dayton street. It was a blast. I can still remember kids crying about haveing to pay $3/cup. 1/2 barrels of miller were only $21.99 at the time.![]()

My wife might have a problem with that.
Are you going to the concert?
hey robert roy, convince your wife to come! the after party is gonna rock. plenty of giveaways and new order fans and one of chicago's most legendary dj's at one of chicago's coolest clubs. and it's all free.
they asked me to dj a few sets twice, i turned them down twice. id love to do it but dont feel like carrying all my cds around. but now i'm thinking i might do it, i dj'd there for new order night last year and had a blast.
I could think of few things more fun than to stay up until 4 am in Chicago. But I'll have to convince my friend - who is driving - if he wants to go. But with Vikings and Bears fans there I don't know if I'd feel too comfortable.
Are you going to give away any Cheeseheads? :D
BTW - Robert Smith left the Vikings when he did because he is more intelligent than the average NFL player. If you are more interested in his story, he may divulge his reasons for leaving in his book "The Rest Of The Iceberg: An Insider's View On The World Of Sport And Celebrity". I haven't read it. But I don't think it had anything to do with marijuana or a movie career.

Certainly up for a beer.. or 6.. ;)
You ever been to, or go to the Great Dane? My wife is a manager there. ![]()
eric,
You are totally correct about Robert Smith and leaving the Vikings. I miss having him on the team for a number of reasons. I worked along with his foundation to help promote it on my site for years. He had his best friend running for him and he used to send me autographed Robert Smith memorabilia for all the help. You don't find players like that now; they want money for stuff like that.

Been tothe Great Dane numerous times. Which one does she manage? Downtown or Fitchburg?
She is at the downtown location. Has been there about 8 years. Does all the HR stuff for both places as well.. busy girl.

yeah...i'm another one of them. i'm really excited about the show though since it will probably be my only chance to see them.
holy shit!!!!!!!!!! greg haus is gonna dj at the afterparty. he is one of chicago's best dj's and thr resident dj at Berlin. all i can say about him is he spins a lot of techno for the berlin crowd but his first love and passion is new wave and industrial. Normally, if you want him to dj at your club, youd have to pay a lot of cash for him but dave roberts helped get him started in the late 80's early 90's as a dj or something like that and they are close friends. he's going to new order and gonna pomote the afterparty as well :)
i forgot the exact url to his website but you can link it through berlins website:
ok, now the question is who´s gonna take a lot of pics and record it on video for us less fortunate to see what happened there? :D

But now I have the feeling that I'm not so sure I want to have my camera with me all the time.

i´m sure monsieur WenOrdér (!) or monsieur Kamár (!) could set a special locker for monsieur le webmastér (!) to save the camera for a while ;)
I always carry a cheap 35mm and a digital. My digi can record avi without sound unfortunately.
just wanted to thank a few ppl helping promote this via handing out fliars and posting on websites. your help is appreciated! check these sites out, least we can do for them helping us promote a neworderonline after party :)

the djs will be:
dave roberts, greg haus, and i will be spinning a short set as well :) 45 minutes :)
I' be the guy with the Fac 51 Hacienda T-shirt, Neo Here we come!!!!! Last time it was at the World Music Theater, now at the Aragon Ballroom, no matter where the place I'll will be there now and forever!!!!!!!!!!!
I met a peron who used to work there back when it first opened in 1979 and she said it hasn't changed at all ;) appearance wise at least. Tuesday nights with Dave Roberts and Thursdays are different than the usual Industrial themes and overall the goth has been replaced with emb, electroclash, and darkwave. Staff is awesome as well. It's funny cause we (my friends and I) always complain about going to Neo and how we need a new place, but having been to other Industrial/new wave/gothic clubs in other cities, we take Neo for granted. 24/7 365 days a year with awesome music and cheap drinks. Now Exit, that place fucking sucks :) wish i was old enough to go to Medusa's before it changed locations and the original exit on Wells street. the Old 950 was my favorite club however.

See, us Packer fans aren't as dumb as some think.

How did you manage a gig like that? Must have been interesting.
"You don't find players like that now; they want money for stuff like that."
And it crosses into other sports. I'm still totally bummed that the NHL didn't play this year.
Back to the topic - looking forward to the after party.

You don't think a couple of ex-preppies/jocks from the 80s will have a problem at Neo do you?
My wife is not a violent person.![]()
no problems for preppies and jocks or ex preppies and jocks. considering it is in lincoln park, there has been an increase in preppies going to neo. the only ones that get kicked out are the cub fan types who get drunk and act like morons.
love the robert smith photo edit ;)
days inn @ clark and diversy. 10 minute walk to neo. plenty of stuff to do in the neighborhood. other noolers are staying there as well. parking can be a problem but it is manageable. pretty close to the aragon as well. 79 a night i believe it was.
I can't wait to get to the show . I will be coming from Colorado to see New Order. I hope to see some people at the Green Mill before the show.:)
dont forget about the after party @ neo :) i went there last night, they are doing an awesome job promoting :) fliars and posters everywhere :)

Do you think they will have to turn people away? Can the bar hold a thousand people?
I just reserved my room at the Days Inn. They were hotel of the year in Chicago. SWEEET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I can't wait now.
The two of us will be heading to Neo's after the show. I appreciate all of the effort that is going into the afterparty! Great job!

For the record, there is no after-party at the Sound Bar, so Neo's the only after party going on !!

For those wondering what the give away prizes might be, it seems likely they will be posters and Krafty promo CDs...
I just don't know how many yet, and we'll see if we can get a few signed by Peter Hook on his set the day before.
I'll have to see how the day goes. I have to be at work 8am-6pm Tue-Thu and I'm also going to see Garbage the next night so...I'll have to see how I feel after the gig. I'd love to go, though.
Bonnie 8^) 34 and at least a decade past partying till 3am and getting up for work at 6am ;)
OK, I think I have convinced my girlfriend to come! You think it's hard to party past midnight now at 34? Try 37 with a 15 month old baby! Yikes! But we are going to Chicago and leaving the baby behind, so hopefully we party like we are 23 again! Luckily we will have the time change (from Vancouver) on our side.
I can only wax nostalgic to shaking it up on the dancefloor in the 80's to BLT! Sigh! Those were the days!

Yes, I'll be there spinning with you guys after the show, and I'm very excited about it. I was going to start a thread about this, but I see you already have.
My website is http://www.djgreghaus.com
I'm also throwing a NEW ORDER SHOWCASE event at Berlin Nightclub on FRIDAY, APRIL 29th, as many of you already know. DJ Trancid will be my guest co-host/DJ. It should be fantastic as well.

Cheers!

yo greg :) i'll be at the berlin thing most likely. wanted to go to see fixmer/mccarthy but i have'nt seen the new order story in years :) i'm gonna ask dave what he wants me to play next week, i figure you guys got the new order, new wave, stuff covered, so i might go a bit more rock, dunno yet though. anyhoo, wenorder should have some fliars ready for me to pick up tomorrow morning to pass out this weekend. can i leave some at berlin friday or would that upset berlin's management?
ps---> i should have the promo's in the mail tomorrow. nic, talked to the same ppl ive been talking to, but they listen to nic cause they need nool ;) i'll post what they send here when i get it. wenorder is also giving away tribute cds. kristine was overwhelmed when i told her what we might get to give away, and suggested leaving it on a table and having ppl pick stuff. thats if we get everything we think we are going to get. otherwise it will be raffle tickets. ok, im jumping the gun, will post later though.
Like that on a table? ![]()
It's not like we'll have 100 to give away, and if they are signed, I hope you'll do a draw or something.
Plus people from NewOrderOnline should have more chances than others ;)
You can do some wicked games so people would win those... ![]()
giveaways include:
radio only promo copies of Krafty about 15 of those new order wftsc promo postera about 15 (som of the edges are bent cause they were in a large envelope). some krafty vynyl. and some new order online tribute cds.
not bad at all :) thanks Nic :)
Not sure about the Krafty vinyls Kamar... but it might happen, as I seriously don't see who would pay the shipping for those from my place to theirs when it's going to probably cost less to buy them at a local shop.
So all the rest is true though..
Thanks for the heads up on the Days Inn. I got an on line reservation for $66.60.
Are any of you noolers attending the concert graduates or students of Columbia College in Chicago?
Also, any pre concert gatherings? I was thinking of going to Leona's for a bite before the show. If it's still as good as it used to be.
dav-O![]()
Leona's still awesome. I get the catfish and for my 2 sides I get the veggie skewer and Fett Alfredo.

Welcome to the club
, except no kiddies yet.
Who's gonna be working the door? I'm gonna have some trouble, at my age. I mean, as such a huge New Order fan I am, is there a chance the door may be a bit nicer? Hope if everybody's in a good mood then it might be better.;)
DONT FORGET AFTER PARTY TONIGHT @ NEO!!!!! GOT SOME CDS SIGNED BY PETER AS GIVEWAYS. I HAD TO HIDE THEM FROM WENORDER AND NIC, SO THEY COULD NOT STEAL IT ;)
I just got back from the show at the Aragon. It was amazing, the band was great, and they played the three joy division songs that I wanted them to play. Everything was great except for a couple of things. I just want to warn any 20 somethings that are going to be at he next show. Beware the older crowd, especially obest men, who are obviously going through mid-life crisis. I have an extensive memory and what I remember about my childhood is listening to New Order records. Fortunatley, I have an older aunt who was a teenager at the time and she exposed me to new wave. I grew up on bands like New Order, The Cure, The Smiths, and every band that Vince Clark has been in. I kept getting comments like, do you even know two New Order songs? I wanted to ask them to name one Stiff Kittens song or a Warsaw song. To top it off, i was standing infront of a bunch of over weight men, who decided to take ownership of an empty space infront of them. It was a sold out show, expect to be close to people and have people infront of you. They kept taking turns pushing me, and talking shit to me. I finally realised that they where just a bunch of pervs who where trying to get a cheap feel on my friend. Too bad a couple of old rotten apples had to ruin the fun for other people. To the older crowd, be happy that people like me and even younger people have a good tast in music, the fact of the matter is, the more people especially a younger crowd listen to bands like New Order, etc. the bigger the radio play they get, and not to mention the longevity of their existance. I'm just tried of people trying to show that they are bigger fans than others, or take ownership of the band. I think the coolest people at the show was the couple standing infront of me, they had thier two sons with them, i wish i could share an experience like that with my parents. As for the after party, i didn't want to deal with the same bull crap that was going on at the concert, I decided to skip out and avoid confrontation. I really had to calm my self and not deck the dude behind me, I didn't want to get through out of the show. Being in a bar and having a couple of drinks in me, let another father of four come up to me and start running their mouth, I would have acted like the immature person that every one thought I was. With all this being said, I would like to take the oppurtunity and thank New Order for the great memories and hopefully more to come. Thanx for playing LOVE WILL TEAR US APART, that was my favorite.
what does obesity and midlife crisis have to do with being assholes who push people?
just sounds like you were near some real jerks. could have been 19 or 49.... thin or fat...
i am surprised new order fans acted that way... honestly. very strange. new order crowds have traditionally been the tamest.
and, actually, I can make one generalization, that the older a fan gets, usually the more nonviolent....
maybe they had taken the brown acid...

Maybe in the States, but I doubt anyone who was at Portsmouth, Macclesfield, Preston or similar occasions would be all that inclined to agree!!
Hey, I ended up winning one of those CD's at Neo. Is it really signed by all the members of NO? I went to the smartbar on Monday and got Phil and Peter's autograph on a Joy Division cover and on a Republic cover, not to say also on the ticket stub from the smartbat. Also have many pics as well.
Must say was a very enjoyable these last two days!!!!!!!
I was surprised at the amount of assholes at this show. The couple in front of me and my friends kept dancing into us without a care. Two girls shoved their way in front of me and one of them proceeded to light a cigarette and shove it in my face until I told her off and they left.
That said...
Best show ever.
Tempation was amazing, and so was Love Will Tear Us Apart.
I'm twenty five, and this was my first NO show.
