I've just booked my flights and ordered my ticket for the O2 Wireless Festival. Can anyone tell me is there are any Hostels close to Hyde Park and any decent gay pubs or straight pubs close by.

I worked in Knightsbridge for many years which is at the south side of the park.

I used to drink at the Paxtons Arms on the road Knightsbridge, The Wilton Arms on Kinnerton Street and the Nags Head, further down Kinnerton Street.

At the north side of the park is Marble Arch and there is a Wetherspoons on Edgware Road which means cheap (for London) beer.

I am sure there are other pubs off Park Lane, east side of the park.

I know nothing about gay bars.

Try www.visitlondon.com for accomodation.

This may come as a surprise Mike, but you have absolutely no need to feel threatened by a gay bar - it will be blindingly obvious to everyone who is gay that you aren't, and you will be quite safe - the only thing likely to attack you is your own apparent homophobia! You might even enjoy the party atmosphere!

I used to work in Knightsbridge and enjoyed many a warm pint on a winter's night at the Paxton. I once saw Peter O'Toole there.

Respect!
