I reckon this is now pretty much a non-starter, unless they will fit a one-off in after they're back from US. If so, it would have to be oop North somewhere shirley?

WHAT ARE THE LATEST ODDS ON A UK WARM-UP GIG?

The extent of their warm up gigs has extended only as far as tv appearances and award ceremonys unfortunatly for us fans they are often industry only or pot luck ticket applications.
It is when you consider that only a certain percentage of N/O fans will want to see them at a festival. I wonder what the likelihood is of a few small gigs towards the back end of the year - i.e. after they've done all their festival dates?
So will we maybe-perhaps get the mooted Wolves Civic/RFH shows next year when the newer new LP comes out?

I believe that was supposedly the plan - an autumn tour - and it now appears all those rumours have been quashed.
Who's to say, perhaps Barney will fcuking love gigging this summer and insist they add more dates?!

Hyde Park is hardly a 'festival' though, is it? It's just a very, very big gig. In a park.
truthfully, i think Kimmel will be their warm-up for the US. I went to check out my information re: the Cure. Last year on Kimmel they played six songs for the crowd on the outdoor stage. think New Order will be on the outside stage based on the ticketing procedure (separate tickets for NO) so I would not downplay the possibility that they run through a few songs that night in front of a small captive audience....

was ist Kimmel? I thought it was some shite US band for a second!
Jimmy Kimmel Show in the U.S. - appearing Wednesday night. He got himself a lat night show with a nice big outdoor stage. He has a little concert series - last year the cure did his show and played two songs on air, then did four more off air. I think this could play out as a mini warm up for the rest of the US gigs....

Because we all know that the Oakland gig is a warm-up gig for Coachella for the Chemical Brothers & New Order.
So unless they decide to do a warm up gig for the warm up gig...

But that's where you're a bit wrong - the band's management were planning at least one UK indoor warm-up show, which is why they went to the trouble of booking the venue. A colleague's wife works there, which was how I knew about it. Apparently now they have changed their minds. Oakland wasn't planned to be the warm-up gig, but almost certainly will be now. It's a bit close to the main event though, they usually tried to have a few days between to reflect on how things went and make any necessary changes.

How do you know, you gotta crystal ball? I would be very surprised NO dont play in there home town. They know which side there bread is buttered. Manchester put NO on the map, they know it would be disrespectful not to play Manchester,especially with it being Ian Curtis's anniversary.

Indeed, I wish it weren't true but word has it there's no more gigs this year after Fuji Rocks. If you read the Forums I believe Nicos and Mr Sultan have been said the same information straight from Andy Rob (I know David's said as much and I think Nic's said it here, though I aint' gonna check).
I dont see how the 25th anniversary of Ian Curtis' death has to be celebrated. They didnt commerorate the 20th, 15th, or 10th. Plus, i personally think that they have commemorated Ian more than enough by playing the old Joy Division stuff.
As much as i'd like New Order to play in manchester, i dont hold it against them for not doing.
