Too long, a New Order set needs to be no longer than 10 songs and no encore, Here's my choice;

No Alan Wise intro, just the crowd chanting "HERE WE GO!"

Temptation The Village Regret Chosen Time Ceremony Everything's Gone Green Turn Vanishing Point Sunrise Hurt

Then next night , different venue, different set !

Are we not going to improvise our own version of "The Vikings", then? I'm sure we'll all have voices like a Welsh choir after a day on the bevvy!!

Oh, and:

Ceremony Age of Consent Crystal Love Vigilantes Regret Vanishing Point WFTSC Dreams Never End The Village The Perfect Kiss Face Up _________________ EGG Temptation

And that, my friends, is what you call a knee-trembler!!

It's hard to narrow it down to 15-18 songs, but they could mix the set up from this list of 20;

Ceremony Siren's Sunrise Regret Someone Like You Thieves EGG Hurt DNE AOC Krafty Perfect Kiss Fine Time LWTUA Isolation YSF True Faith(Either version) TBTHOG Close Range Angel Dust

Many others too numerous too mention in a list of 20

Note:BM/BLT/Temptation in semi-permanent retirement

I love set list topics...

  1. Whose Joe?
  2. Waiting For the Sirens Call
  3. Crystal
  4. Dracula's Castle
  5. Krafty
  6. Regret
  7. Transmission
  8. Thieves Like Us
  9. This Time of Night
  10. Morning Night and Day
  11. Guilt is a Useless Emotion
  12. Confusion
  13. Touched by the Hand of God
  14. Jetstream
  15. Fine Time
  16. Temptation
  17. Bizarre Love Triangle
  18. True Faith
  19. Blue Monday

ENCORE

  1. Turn
  2. Everythings Gone Green
  3. Love Will Tear Us Us Apart

And the stage has a backdrop like Reading 98...and Phil spends most of his time playing the synth, not guitar.

Here to Stay Love Vigilantes Run Broken Promise Everything Gone Green Ceremony Age of Consent Mesh Sunrise The Perfect Kiss Broken Promise Sunrise Temptation WFTSC Turn Guilt is a Useless Emotion Fine Time Round and Round Mr. Disco Vanishing Point

No encore. No talking, except hello and a few thank you's. Of course all played very pissed off. The Technique tour was a masterpiece

Ok this it a tough one, as I'm always torn between hearing loads of songs, and a short sharp set. I'll try the shorter option...here goes:

Intro Music:Elegia Crystal Regret Ceremony Leave Me Alone Dreams Never End Thieves Like Us Vanishing Point Special Turn Bizarre Love Triangle Hurt Perfect Kiss

586/EGG/Temptation Random shitty cover (c.f. Sister Ray, Ostrich)

Have never heard the 586...medley, but I imagine they could make it sound amazing, and to end the gig with 25 minutes of dancing your arse off.

  1. World (Price of Love)

  5. Vicious Streak
  6. Way of Life
  7. Lonesome Tonight
  8. Face Up
  9. Run
  10. Temptation (98)
  11. Crystal
  12. Someone Like You
  13. Regret
  14. WFTSC
  15. All Day Long
  16. Pirfect Kiss (Substance)

----Encore---- 17. Ceremony (With Gillian on stage!) 18. Love Juice (W/ Gillian) 19. Player in the League (W/Gillian)

19 songs; approximately 110 minutes. Not too unrealistic, considering the recent Oakland show was 95 minutes.

I love this set list because songs 3 through 13 tell the continuous story of New Order's lyrical microcosm. Songs 1 and 2 will get the show off to a good start; 14 instantly became one of the greatest love songs ever; they've been talking about bringing back 15 for years now; and 16 replaces Blue Monday as a tribute to Ian.

Notice exclusion of Blue Monday, True Faith, and Joy Division songs (aside from Ceremony). Give those songs a break for a while and bring back Pirfect Kiss, Face Up, and Procession. And, debut cult classics Vicious Streak, Player in the League and Turn (yes, it's reached that status already).
