from orlando to NYC. perhaps 1200 miles or so?

if i had unlimited funds i'd go to the international space station. i'm fine with extreme g-forces, and all that.

driven to Sydney and back twice in one week. round trip of about 600 km each time.

I know it must be difficult up there in Aberdeen, Fradders, but there is no need to stoop so low is there? Surely there must be whores on street corners, or sheep?

Well, it is all a question of budget with my Lovely wife, but that said, possibly as far as we could (we're dreaming to visit Japan and Australia sometimes if we can make it, and why not to see NewOrder perform there at the same time), That would be a dream come true. Apart from that, and except my first No.gig here in Belgium way back in '85, I've just seen them on their turf in UK and once in Paris (26 May 2002).

Last summer I went from Rome to London, the next weekend from Rome to Turin. It was worth it!

From Manchester to Las Vegas in May this year.Then Drove to Coachella Festival from L.V. From there drove to L.A. via San Diago for two nights.Got flight from L.A. to N.Y. for the Hammerstien gig. Spent a fucking fortune .......

One overnight drive, in 85, about 850 miles one way I think, well worth the trip. Put about 1300 miles, in four days, on the rental car for the Oakland/Coachella swing.

I'd go just about anywhere in the world to see 'em, if other things didn't get in my way (more props to those who can manage it )

i had tickets to see them at Ally Pally in 98.. had to cancel (looks lovingly at his unused ticket).

but this year i flew from Florida to California to see them..

that's a good 2500+ miles

I'd documented my four day journey recently. Cost above an average months wage where I live, and there was a hanging threat of a carabignery suspecting I was going to Italy for black market work and not letting me in.

I took a bus from the middle of North America to the West Coast, then back through the middle agan out towards the east coast about 7 140 hrs on a bus in total to see 3 shows in 87....um...but i was really going to see the Bunnymen (as the bands were touring on a double bill) at that time & was only getting into New Order! Does that count?

atlanta to california for area: one atlanta to turin this summer. next time maybe they will come a bit 'closer.'

I'd go as far as it takes for a decent gig, in a small venue with a half decent set list and some effort in the performance.

The furthest afield that I've seen them was Liege in Belgium in, I think, 1984. It was a gig called the 'Indoor Festival' with Echo and The Bunnymen headlining. Also playing were Shriekback and Fad Gadget. EATB and NO did Sister Ray on stage together as NO's encore. I wouldn't go that far today.

The furthest I've been (so far) is to Turin...

If they'd do actual gigs, rather than festivals, I might have been tempted to go and see them more times in Europe than I did! :)

Maybe next year?

NJ to CA for the Oakland show and then back for the nyc Hammerstein gig. Up against the barricade both times, front and ceneter for NYC. Brilliant!

I was living in South Carolina in 2001 when the Area One dates were announced. I planned my move back to California (2600 miles) to coincide with the Mountain View date.

Yuck. Do I need reminding. I was on the same coach. Levellers fans outnumbered New Order fans 10-1.

And then we all got fcuking sunburned at the gig before a long journey back!

Yes, possibly the worst coach trip ever. 16 hours of levellers music. I think we managed to get half an hour off new order on the coach stereo! Couldn't do it now!

Bedford boys would go anywhere. Just as well New Order didn't play too far from home, distance wise, at the outset. Scottish gigs were a bastard to get to.

Compare the current scramble for tickets with the prior system of the scramble to find out when and where they were playing!

New Order more or less invented/patented the business of "the secret gig". If you were lucky, a gig might be listed at the last minute in the NME, it would be scheduled for a Friday - in Bradford, say - and you'd find out about it that morning. This is 1981.

When the 2nd London concert at The Forum, in May, sold out (it had been better advertised), the group agreed to play to a small gathering at a youth centre in Notting Hill Gate, the Talbot Tabernacle, for free the next day.

I think £35 is a bit inflationary
