Just ordered my tickets! Can anyone suggest a decent hotel near the venue? Thanks!
Also, the name of a nice pub near it would be great too!

Blimey, tickets went on sale AFTER I woke up! ![]()
Luckily, they still had standing available... ![]()
Hotel I've decided to stay at is The Gardens Hotel (in Piccadilly Gardens) - not too far away from the railway station and all the record shops/bars/clubs/etc. Also, the Apollo is only about 5 minutes away (by car/bus/tram/etc).
So, flight booked (yup, I'm flying up from Heathrow round about midday - cheaper than trains) and back the next day!! Now, all I've got to do is to book the holiday time... :)
WA-HEY!!!! ![]()
standing of course! Uncle Liam if you are reading this i tried to give you a text but my phone died on me. Right got to go, nooling is strictly verboten at work.
Gardens Hotel is the place to stay, can someone get to work on the watering hole situation please!
Apsley cottage aint big enough for pre gig drinks. Picadilly Tavern is city centre and will fit us all in, but isnt the best pub. Wetherspoons is next door but i'd rather not go in there. There is also a yates nearby but as its yates it wont be very good.
Let the floor be opened for any other suggestions...
probably Moon Under the Water is the only pub big enough for this gathering. I know at least a dozen mates that are going, prob more.
This is gonna be one big muthafooker..
NUUU ORRDAHHHH

Pitcher & Piano I think. Not a bad shout as it's fairly big and a decent bar. Right near the taxi rank too.

WHY?!
Why the f--- are New Order playing a one-off like this in Mancland?!
It's not like it's fucking 1986 or summat, or they have anything worth pushing?!
Am I the only one thinking this is a little odd?! They could play half-a-dozen dates at that venue and a lot more all over the country besides, so why the one-off?!
Answers on a postcard please.
Perhaps they want to release another live DVD and are unsatisfied with the performances that have been recorded thus far.

That'll be two of us inundated with texts and calls. Big thanks to Liam, who has been singlehandedly trying to keep me in the picture while I was away for the night and without web access. Ticket secured, now for the hotel/train etc. Better see if I can get 2 days off as well I suppose!
I must've phoned 30 odd people as soon as I received confirmation from GM & ATR. Tried you twice but nae answer. And I was too busy phoning round to text people. Liam had to be the most excited I've ever heard anyone, sounded like a 5 year old wean on the phone to me....."Is it definitely on? What date is it? Is it a full set? Why are they doing it? Is it all seated? who's going?" and to end the phonecall he told me he was going home for a sleep, but didnae know whether he could cos he was so excited
Top man is our Liam.

Anyone else planning to make a week of it?
Now what would be REALLY good would be if there was another gig on the Tuesday night... Or a night in a club...
Any interest? Any ideas?
Biggie, it's all worked out well for me. I'm 'between jobs' that week. So if you fancy a session with a dolescum gizza shout.

Anyone up for this? :)
oh yes..

that's the last time I get pissed and get the garden shears out. I even chopped my telly cable & burglar alarm cable.

bloody hell, how many times have I told you to hide sharp objects before you get pissed? Well never actually, but you get my point. Where do you reckon for the pre-gig meet up? We could even start a couple of days in advance.
Wish I could go, but the finances are looking a bit grim (especially with the family Chrimbo looming)... hope they hurry up and get back to London.
(Shouldn't be saying that as a born and bred Northerner!)
The current conversation in work is where the pre gig drinks are going to take place. We need somewhere big, (probably more people at this than last week) so Moon Under Water, Picadilly Tavern, and that pub next to bridgewater hall (alhough we best be quiet, we wouldnt want to offend any Ray Lamontagne fans!) have all been mooted.

Or could it be that you would struggle to get front row?![]()

I'm not sure, the Pitcher & Piano has been mentioned. Sounds good to me.
