Will they play Ireland? I know one member of the proud MancYoungTories would make the trip for that!
I'm going to give this one a miss and concentrate on making it to the Manchester gig, my finances are a little stretched at the moment. It does seem odd they announced the later show first then the earlier one now
they've obviously got a few shows arranged with SJM/Carling to make up for the festival-only appearances this year.
£81.70 for two tickets through NME site. If anyone know if there's anywhere cheaper can they let me know. I'm so excited I think I'm going to wet myself.

£38 each at Ticketweb -
http://www.ticketweb.co.uk/user/?region=uk&query=detail&event=142626&interface=brixacad
and £1.50 postage.
despite some frantic attempts to shuffle up some money/time off it looks like I'm going to have to give it a miss. Well, I'll still be working on it for a bit, never give up entirely. whats with all the weekdays?
Well, since I'll be on a training course that week in Hinckley, this is what my plans are so far! :p
Training Course --> Hinckley Station [taxi] Hinckley --> London (departs 5:30pm, arrives 7:15pm) [train] London --> Brixton (approx. half an hour) [tube]
Brixton --> Euston (before 11:40pm) [taxi] Euston --> Coventry (arrives 1:18am) [train] Coventry --> Hinckley Hotel [taxi]
Damn, I can't believe I'm even contemplating this! ![]()

Got a ticket!.Standing.Has to be standing. If it was only seats left i would not go!.I hate sitting at a NO gig. I'll be getting the train down from Rugby (will be great to escape "luddite" land for the night) sometime after 5pm.Doors at 7pm i see so should make it easy enough. What time do you people reckon the start and finish times will be?.Cheers.

Mate, I tried gettng back to Euston after one of the Brixton shows in 2001. Spent the night kicking my heels in the freezing bloody cold after missing the train by about 2 minutes.

Only one problem, my last fucking holiday is being used for Manchester, the Tuesday will have to be a sickie.
Which means unless we drive down straight after I finish work and drive back straight after the gig I ain't gonna make the bastard, and I doubt John or Lorraine will want to leave that late. Plus I have a new manager who started yesterday so there is no way I can skive the Thursday or Friday with a new guy in charge ![]()

You should be OK - Euston-Wolverhampton run through the night don't they? Gotta stay over for Manc - the only train I could catch would take 4 hours - changing twice. Tis not the other side of the world Mr Virgin Trains!

Looks like Sheepshagland to St Pancras return is a possibilty. Last train's at 11.15 so that might be tight.

Yep, the bastards boot you out after the last train (about 1.40 to Milton Keynes, I think), and then you don't get back in until about 5am. Even if you have a valid ticket for the next day. I've done it too many times, and don't wanna have to do it again!
Hello - I'm really pleased that proper New Order fans have been buying the tickets up before the internet touts get their grubby mitts on them. I only signed up as a member today as I saw the date go on www.seetickets.com and thought it would be best to post this asap. It looks like there will be only the one date at Brixton and Manchester, but I've been wondering today since buying my Brixton tickets where they might play on Sat 12th Nov? Think about it, night on, night off etc etc. Reckon it could be either Birmingham or Glasgow. Whoever sees anything first please post on this message board so I can see it!!!!! Will be posting more stuff on here - you all seem like a very friendly bunch and, as a New Order fan of over twenty years (I first saw them at Hammersmith Palais in Nov 1985, what a gig!) this makes me very happy.
Here's hoping they play some tracks that they haven't played for a long while and not the same-ish sets that they have been doing over the last few years. Would be good to hear them do 'The Perfect Kiss', 'Sunrise', 'Face Up', 'Guilty Partner', '586', 'Paradise', the list is almost endless!
Wino wrote: There's Northampton-Euston and reverse about every half an hour? That any use?
Nah - but well worth a shout ![]()
Ketter*** is only 8 miles away, Northampton close to 30 - and with limited time not really a goer.
The other possibilty is Car - Finchley - Tube to London then Brixton then repeat after gig.
I am DEFINITELY going one way or another ![]()

Top work Rob, rumours abound these are the only 2 gigs. But you never heard that from me ;) Make sure you get yer arse to the Canterbury before the gig and I'll get you a beer ![]()
Wino wrote: There's Northampton-Euston and reverse about every half an hour? That any use?
yeah but i would have to pay to get back to Rugby from Northampton.I can get a train to Rugby from Euston at 23.40 and then the next (and last) one is about 1.30 am but it doesn`t get to Rugby till 6.15am or something ridiculous.Could always grab a couple a few hours kip on that though, as i have work at 8.30am
edit: oh ,the Euston -Northampton tip was directed at Shug, sorry.
I will be annoyed but still delighted if they announce a Birmingham gig.Now ive gone and bought a Brixton Ticket.Doubt theyll play the Midlands though. The NO fanbase would make the trip but can't imagine many locals attending.I'm a rare fan in this part of the country.

This is definitely directed to you! If they play Brum, I won't need a train ticket!!!! Yippee. Not going to be around much next few days, so someone shout - very loud - if they hear anything! By the way, know what you mean. New Who?

Oh, just a fasttrack Windows Server 2003 course (which I know already, but hopefully I'll learn something extra and get off my a*se and take the two upgrade MCSE exams - not that it's worth anything nowadays, apart from on a CV)! :p
As for getting back to Euston in time, the Victoria line takes me directly from Brixton to Euston (so no need for taxi), so if I'm out just before 11pm, then I should make the 11:40pm train. Also, single train tickets (if booked ahead - which I've just done!), are about 12 quid each way. The expensive bit is going to be the taxi from Coventry to Hinckley - between 20-25 quid... ![]()
So, it's doable - probably get to Brixton in time for 8pm'ish, and will have to leave the gig just before 11pm! ![]()

Nah, you're not the only one who works! :)
Normally, I'd either be working from home (Hertfordshire), or in Southend/Stevenage/Telford (wherever work needs me). With regards to Manchester, I've had to take the last two remaining holiday days off to make that trip, but with London, I can't really miss time off from a training course, hence the hectic travel arrangements! ![]()

It often seems like that to me, too.But i do work if it's any consolation.I just happened to be off sick with a stiff neck today!.But i have to work the day of the Birixton gig and the day after. So it's gonna be tight.
Stiff neck? Could be your age????? Try some deep heat. Or massage. But obviously, be careful of the obvious with the latter, or you could end up with more than a bad neck!![]()
Been working today, so only just found out about the Brixton gig. Just hoping there's a ticket left tomorrow (pay day) as Tricia thinks she'd get New Order 'overload' if we're seeing them in Manchester too.

I wouldn't advise taking too much into the gigs - the ticket site for the venue says that because of the 'current security situation' please do not bring bags, etc. Any bags brought in will be thoroughly searched and 'inappropriate items' confiscated.
If you want to bring a camera, make it a disposable one and get right up at the front...

Trouble is, disposables don't have the magical mystical extending lens that Hibster's camera has which allows him to take such ceaselessly great shots. He's doing kevin Cummins job now - I think the band and their management should be paying him, personally.....when NO knock it on the head, it's going to be people like Hibster (and Nic's website) who are keeping a unique visual record of their last hurrah. Completely agree - just reporting what I've seen on the 'official' sites though. A 'heads up' just in case anyone finds that they get refused admission or whatever.

Just gives you some vital space to breathe.. ;)
I have no idea why, when I checked for Manchester on the 14, it was costing 2000$ of plane tickets.
Today I try with Expedia once again, adding London, and it would cost 857,94 $C !
That is flight from Montreal to London, then to Manchester and then back to Montreal.
Seems almost affordable... someone can dream, isn't it? ;)
Still hoping to be able to do this next year.

There are a few B&Bs around London where you can get a room for £40 - £50 a night. Do a search and try phoning in advance - you might get something in the suburbs cheaper.
I just paid £50 a night for a double room in Manchester and that was the cheapest I could find, so not really that much difference.
I've shopped around a bit and can get a penthouse apartment for £85! - ended up in a very run of the mill box in London that was £100! Great deals in Manchester at the moment - take an hour or so to have a look - Virgin trains website have some great offers - they're offering rooms at half the price the actual hotels are!!!! I am going in style this time! Albeit for 1 hour prior, few hours sleep, and 1 hour after waking up -.... sod it! Company credit card anyway.

I'm glad this gig came up because I can't do Manchester on the 14th anymore. I'm gutted but definitely can't get the time off work that day, much as i've tried.
I'll just have to make the most of the 10th
Terrible cold you're going down with, Julie!
Hi everybody!
Coming over from Ireland for the gig. Was just wondering if anybody knows of any hostels around the Brixton area? I've done a google search, and unfortunately accommodation seems to be very erm....unavailable in that part of London. Don't want to have to travel too far back to hotel/hostel at the end of the night (which is what usually happens!)
Any news on support act for this gig yet? Who played support for Manchester gig?
I'm all questions! :)
More important than anything is do we hear Turn live for the first time
and EGG??
Yes I have my tickets ![]()

Try looking on http://www.hostelbookers.com/ they have a place in victoria which is only a short tube ride away.
Cheers. I'll check it out. I have no idea of the geography of London town at all. Last time I was there (for a New Order gig!), I ended up staying miles away from where it was on...![]()
Brixton & Victoria are both on the same tube line - the 'light blue' one. So, as long as the trains are running (usually 'til 1am) you'll be able to get to Victoria from Brixton ![]()

I didn't...unfortunately they played on friday, and i only got saturday/sunday off. Just no chance to arrive on time.
So, this is really good news!!! I couldn't get tickets for Manc, sold out came too soon, and i was beginning to think that NO and I didn't fit, or sth like that.
It's good to be back at NOOL too, after too many months without time to log in.

That's unfortunately not an option this time Tim. I reckon it would be a bit too obvious considering i've already asked outright for annual leave for that day. I thought I would be able to sweetheart my manager in to giving me the time off but it wasn't to be :(
Lucky for me they're doing Brixton too ![]()
What time do bands usually finish at the Academy?.I've been to one gig there but that was the midnight show Kraftwerk did in March 04.
I've got a feeling that (from what I remember of last time) they have to finish by 11pm. That means that punters have the chance to get the tube to just about any London station to catch a night train home where available. Basically, if you're living or staying in London, you should get home easily.
Also, thanks to Ken Livingstone, 'night buses' run every half hour all around the city. They may take a while, but you could even leave a late club at 3 or 4am and get back to your digs or a station of choice for £1.20 (per bus ride) at any time.
Hope that helps. ![]()

thanks very much, Chris.yeah i'm one of those people who has to catch a tube back to Euston for a train home at 11.40 pm.so an 11pm finish might give me just enough time hopefully. barring any complications (drunkeness, forgetting where i am,slipped disc from the moshpit)

Not just that - the tube gets pretty chaotic after Academy gigs - I didn't make back for my 11.45 train last time I tried.
Pray they start Blue Monday at 10.50 so you know it's all over and you can just fuck off!
i can actually get a later (last) train at 1.30AM i think.but it doesn't get me home til about 6.30 AM!.possibly have to change at Milton Keynes and wait a few hours.and i have work at 8.30.awww fuck it ! whatever happens will happen!!.... might just ahve to be a sicky.trouble is i had two days sick this week.
I was trying to resist the temptation, but fook it eh, you only live once so I booked tickets, flights and accommodation for another London gig. See you all there!

Yeah, that's do-able - last train to Milton Keynes is at about 1.30-1.40, and the staff there are usually pretty understanding (ie - they'll unlock the waiting room doors so you can stay warm/grab some kip).
Again, good luck (and say 'hello' in the pub beforehand!)

NO Regret wrote: Does anyone know why its £40 for the gig? When most bands charge £15-£20?
It's not 'most' bands, is it? Chemical Bros and Prodigy tickets are £25+ and they've both clocked up, what, 6 or 7 nights each at Brixton this year. Brixton are charging £35 (where did you get £40 from?) for a one-off New Order gig, New Order's first 'small' London show for 4 years (and then you'd have to go back to the 80's to find such a London show previously). And, anyways, it's SJM you have to blame, not the band themselves. New Order would take a flat fee, I should imagine, and SJM will work out a decent price they think they can get away with.
You could always go watch Arsenal or Chelski for even more money!
Very true Al, plus, if you consider that many of us would think nothing of spending £40 over one or two nights in a pub, it's not that bad. Sure, it could have been cheaper, but I'd rather spend the £38.50 on one night seeing all the Vikings, plus New Order, plus beers (okay, add more money for the last bit) than going to see any other band or spending a couple of other nights in the pub ![]()
The truth is a lot of us are still in a state of vague shock that they're still about. Having given up on ever seeing them again in about 1994 the current state of affairs is just, well, wonderful.

I'm sure if tickets were £100 then alot of us would still be going. (Though we'de expect something special for our money!!AGE OF CONSENT at least!!)
Please can any Southern boy or girl tell me how long it will take me to get from Euston to Brixton.
![]()
Hmmmm... I'm thinking £35 is a tenner more than i expected, not that it matters too much, 'cos we'd all pay double. You could have bought a day ticket at the Wireless Festival for about the same.
Here's hoping that for the extra tenner we get a class support act, or a double set.
this is awesome-tho I will state my complete jealousy at your great fortune. One day the lads will cpme round my way!!!
Jake Dudek wrote: Please can any Southern boy or girl tell me how long it will take me to get from Euston to Brixton.
Yup, about half an hour, but to be on the safe side (and I will need to be at Euston to catch the 11:40pm train), I'm going to have to leave the Academy round about 10:50pm to be on the safe side, otherwise it might take you about 10 minutes just to get outside, another 5 minutes+ to walk to the tube station, possibly another 5+ minutes to wait for the train to leave the station (more if the first tubes are full - remember that Brixton can accommodate up to 4,500 people - most of whom go back on tubes)... And, of course, the time it takes to get from Euston tube station to the main station to try and get your train from the correct platform!!!
So, yeah, when they start playing Blue Monday, I'm going to get ready to leave - still, I'll see the whole set in Manchester 5 days later! ![]()

Amen to that.
Nick, if you leave before the crowds, you can run from The Acadamy to Brixton platform in under 5 mins. There's a 'First Train departing' sign at the bottom of the escalator so you get the right platform for the first tube out. Victoria Line running time is about 3 mins per station, so 25 mins to Euston.
Euston is a bit of a rabbit warren with about three escalators up to the mainline.
If you've got 40 mins and the tube runs ok, you'll be fine.

i think its gonna be difficult, because its full of double yellows if not double reds, saying that its not all double yellows, you just have either find a sweet spot, i.e. single yellow or a car park
Most of the parking meters are free to park near after 18:30. I've never had a problem parking in evening, even in conjestion area. Give it a shot, but get there as early as poss just in case.
alternatively, park on a double red and pick you car up from the Rozzers after the gig??? They'll look after it in a secure car park for you...

Got tickets today for Brixton so thats me and Ernie Cycle putting lip to rim in the Canterbury. I only hope that after the festival appearances this summer that they realise they are playing to a captive audience who are only there to see New Order and they amend the set. I personally would like to see Jetstream dropped and Procession brought in! Failing that bring back Ceremony and YSF for an extra encore![]()

What greedy b*stards NO have become! £35 plus booking fee for a ticket! what a rip off! Well it looks like they are going to have egg on their faces as it's looking like it's not going to sell out-serves them right, around £20 would have been reasonable!

Then you can't be a NO fan.
I think that the majority of NO fans are pleased that NO are still gigging, and are willing to pay that amount to see them.
The only gripe I have is the short notice of the gig, for getting time off work etc. I have to get from Portsmouth to London by 7:00/7:30 (finishing work @ 5:00), and I have to be at work for 8:30 the next day as I have a class to prepare.
But that hasn't stopped me, and neither has the price, so really, if you are that concerned, don't go!
Stephen D wrote: What greedy b*stards NO have become!
How do you know? They're also so lazy that they use a promotor to organise + promote the gigs, & I'd be surprised if their fee is a percentage of the door take these days. If they were offered a percentage of the bar takings however...
I am a total NO fan-have been for about 18 years. I am sure I am not the only one who is thinking the ticket price is very high-I can't be the only one as with 4 days to go there are still plenty of tickes available from all the major ticket outlets. If most NO order fans are happy to pay the price then it would of sold out, simple as that. Not everyone is on fantastic wages and can afford £40 just for a ticket-If you are on an average wage or below average wage it's alot of money...

Sold Out? Where did you hear that disinformation?
Does anyone actually know how many tickets have actually been sold? I mean, if they're 500 short of a sell-out it's no biggie, but it'll be a bit embarrassing if the place is half empty. Presumably the London press will have plenty of ads for the show over the next 48 hours???

eBay ads indicate it. But OK then they are lying, it's not sold out. It's still a sad state of affairs if they can't sell out their sole London gig this year.

Ticket prices are TOO expensive : they were about £23 for Brixton in 2001, and managed to sell three nights, and £20 for the Apollo in 1998 - the last time they charged £38 was for an allnighter on New Years Eve with Underworld and The Chem Brox., whereas £38 for a one-act gig on a Thursday (esp. when they had trouble shifting tickets for Hyde Park earlier in the year) is ambitious. Good as they are, there are VERY few bands - maybe five in the world - I would pay over £30 to see.
Besides which every band and their dog play London and MAnchester, if they played some less popular stops (Birmingham, Glasgow, Cardiff) they might sell a lot more tickets. And if they gave us more than 2 weeks notice.
Well 'Del' if you do fancy going I have one spare standing ticket for sale for £30 o.n.o.! (overestimated my mates' dedication...) Or indeed if anyone else fancies it email me or reply... cheers!

hello everyone, im yet another new one, been looking at this place for a very very long time though!! well i got hold of a couple of tickets on ebay for about a tenner including postage, and ive been wondering about this situation because i thought it would be a nightmare to get hold of one from anywhere. i realise there has been little or no promotion, but im still baffled as to what the capacity will be like tomorrow. mind you i don't care. it's the lads after all!!!
i think pretty much every ticket agency has tickets left except the one that links from the academy's website, lots on ebay as well
not sure what that means but god knows what happened to the promotion, no-one i've spoken to had any idea it was on
still, i wouldn't really care if it was just me in there (although not sure the band would feel the same way)
just phoned the venue and they said about cameras, especially digital ones, that you may be able to take it in, but thats dependable on the day, i.e. you might be able to take it in or you might not be able depends, if you do take camera and they take it from you, you will be able to retrieve it, albeit, best to leave it in your car, if your going to the event by car. about parking highly advisable not to park on main streets (double red lines), there is a car park for the town, sign posted, though i havent really seen it or do not know if it will be open for the duration of the concert. there are single yellow lines there but not in abundance as double yellows and double reds and resident parking, though resident parking is time limited for the working hours, they shouldnt be a problem 8.30 to 5.30, does that mean you are safe to park without getting a ticket or clamped? i think it is, but let me know if your a traffic warden and know the biz

Get yerself there,Gal!
Yes, yes, I know I should but I have no mates who want to go to this one and I hate turning up on my own...:(

I'm meeting one of the other girls from here before hand and we're going along together. If you're not sure about going in to the pub on your own, you're more than welcome to meet up with us. You would need to email me tonight and I would give you my mobile number because I won't be online at all tomorrow :)

What, they've reformed?.Who has replaced Morrison?
Fuck sake BA, that sucks balls in a big way.
And there's me thinking "nick's a right cunt, he doesn't reply to mails" :)
Is Tonight's gig online anywhere?
Good news and bad news situation - just as I am getting into my car to drive to London for the gig- my wife phones to tell me that my sister in law has gone into labour - several weeks early. I am now sitting here typing this with a ticket in front of me but with the bonus of a beautiful new niece!
Here's hoping that Monday night blows the socks off Brixton!!!!
So, nobody is texting anyone the setlist yet? ![]()
Hehe,
I heard rumours that there will be at least 2 songs they didn't play yet this year, I hope it's true for all people going.
danny wrote on sms now
TURN is on the setlist, one of the first 7 songs also ceremony and KW1,Thanx to lordsy
Got a call from Nick King saying they opened with Ceremony, played Turn, and there were a fair few JD songs in the set including Shadowplay. Blue Monday as usual made an appearance but it wasn't the last song. He unfortunately had to dash before the final song to catch his train home :(
Sounded like a good 'un though
can't wait for Manchester!
Ceremony, Love vigilantes, Crystal, Regret, Waiting for the sirens call, Turn, Transmission, True faith, BLT, LWTUA, Blue Monday... Zugabe: Shadowplay, Warsaw, She´s lost control
danny wrotes now the songs ,not the coorect positions but the setlist.
i count the days before manchester...Mmm![]()
Thats a great setlist - something for everything there! Even BM:D
If they can add EGG for Monday I'll be in heaven.
Good to see they played Turn & WFTSC - they know what we like
Just got a text from DoN - lists the setlist as: Ceremony Love Vig Crystal Regret Krafty Turn Transmission YSF WFTSC True faith BLT LWTUA Temptation Blue Monday
Encore: Shadowplay 31g (warsaw) Shes lost control
And a very good gig it was too - I'll be happy if they play similarly in Manchester. No new songs though - perhaps on Monday.
Cheers to all who went tonight - a pleasure meeting some for the first time and others for the umpteenth.
And thanks for the badge Al :)
Just got home, superb gig. Debut of Turn was sensational, and Ceremony, YSF, Tempation and Shadowplay rocked the house to the core . Great to see all the NOOL'ers at the Canterbury too. Off to bed now coz I'm too old for this stuff!
Ceremony was a classic, absolutely awesome. If that wasn't sold out then it was pretty close. The whole place was throbbing by the time we got Temptation. Good to see the massive Stoke City flag make an appearance.
mmm quite liked 31g, even though i have never heard it before live or recorded til now, nice gig NEW ORDER NEW ORDER NEW ORDER NEW ORDER
just looked at my photos, some of them have come out real gems, the rest of course, as usual are out of focus![]()
obviously there was a late rush to see the boys, because the place was as near as sold out.
this was a much better gig than the last time they played brixton . turn was unexpected, and very welcome;)
I was the 19 year old kid with the long curly hair completely out of place right down in the thick of it.. to any of those wondering who the fuck that was. And whoever the hell picked up me up after I fell over, cheers!
I can say I at least saw one person with a NOOnline shirt, although it was on the tube back home..
fucking soaked. (my first gig. determined to get my money's worth)
EGG was one that the VIKINGS told me about,NoT being there but being with my son who i HAVE NOT SEEN in 3 years,i too have had a GREAT night. ONLY 7 pints though cos i am WORKING in the morning,SEE you HARDCORE Monday though. OH I'VE GOT RED EYES :D
great night great setlist barney was top class nice to meet everyone and why oh why do I have to get up at 630 in the morning????
yeh, just in - top night - stands up alongside some of the best UK imdoor gigs from the 80s - everyone hoped, but no one expected them to open with Ceremony - roll on Monday!
Once again, sterling effort with the pins Al...
Was it me by any chance? I had my blue true faith T-Shirt on over my black jumper.
WHAT A GIG!!!!!
for a minute there I thought they were going to play all the singles in order like they did in '87, but no such luck. Absolutely brilliant show (and a fine set list). However I did think "Shadowplay" was a muddle (Barney's vocals just don't do justice to the song), "Turn" sounds like "Close Range" did (i.e. it needs a bit of tweaking to perfect), and was that facial hair I saw on Phil? Nice to see a couple of Synth lines from TPK in "Blue Monday" as well and Phil not playing widdly woo guitar all over it.
I like phil playin his guitar like a muppet on the end of BM, the village idiot doesn;t bother any more so someone has to.
Bettter than sex!. And was that Gillian again?.
Mosh pit was mental as ever.Top laugh.Nearly lost me trainers !.Ceremony ,YSF , Warsaw were some of the highlights for me.Everyone seemed to be standing still for Shadowplay.Thought it was a bit messy.Turn was pretty good.
Top gig ![]()
i can't bear to read this, whish i'd been there and also for the next one. enjoy it everybody.
Corby Order home safe and sound.
What a great gig.
Ceremony made a very welcome return, much to the delight of the Vikings.
Love Vigilantes, Crystal and Regret quickly followed capping an awesome opening to the set.
An added bonus was the debut of Turn.
KW1, LWTUA and Temptation were other highlights.
Then we had the encore which featured Joy Division songs only (got to be a first) - Shadowplay, Warsaw and She's Lost Control which got the audience vote ahead of Atmosphere (which is actually on the setlist)
Fantastic night once again and great to meet up with everyone in the pub beforehand.
Cheers to Al and JG for the badges.
Cannae wait for Monday.
Nu Ordah ![]()
At least monday we'll be there LIVE via the webcast!
Have Bernard to say something for us ;)
Spotnick wrote: I'm not sure anybody answered this yet... was the place packed?
Check out Johnny's pics. Certainly looks like it.
Yup, me too like Ronald wish I'd been there. Anyways, I'd just like to point out that Uncle Liam and Biggy didn't get properly pissed, obviously
I mean, knowing the set list almost perfectly right after the gig -
Cheers for thinking of me left out in the cold, lol

i have been to the same venue, when they were doing the Aids International Day thingy, but thought last night was better by mile, shame they never played Dreams Never End also
You've all got Johnny G and BigInOil to thank for badges cos they went thirds on these, and I'd brought theirs out last night but only about half-a-dozen of my own. Ended up giving away nearly all of JG's and Biggie's. Sorry, lads! We've got a few left for Manc though, for anyone who needs 'em.
Fcuking great gig. I fcuking love Ceremony! Greatest tune ever written! Completely confused what to do for the rest of the gig though cos I couldn't keep shouting CER-EH-MOW-KNEE over and over like I used to.
Thought the encores were flat, mind. Was thankful that we got She's Lost Control instead of Atmosphere (which was on the setlist) cos I thought Shadowplay and 31G were way too downbeat. Hope they swap a couple of things round for Mancland, and maybe slip EGG in somewhere.
Cracking night, great to meet up with everyone before the gig, then a fabulous performance. Pity that Shadowplay had that big clunking sound like their versions of Digital did, but it's nice to hear it all the same.
Looks like i'm the only one who didn't like the encore
I think they could of thrown in TPK or something, I went to see New Order and got 5 JD songs, and i'm no big fan of JD![]()
Fantastic night - roll on Monday! :)
Ceremony was an absolute treat - wonderful way to start a gig.
Couldn't really dance that much as was squashed at the front, but really enjoyed the gig... Now feeling knackered as back in Hinckley for the training course (but not really taking much in)...
See ya all on Monday! ![]()
Spotnick wrote: I'm not sure anybody answered this yet... was the place packed?
Yeah it was packed. I was expecting the place to be half empty. Touts were selling tickets for a tenner and I couldnt sell my spare one.
It was a cracking performance. I take back every negative comment Ive ever posted about the band. It was the best gig Ive been to in my life!! Hooky was strutting his stuff and in his element. Barney was singing in key and enjoying himself. Good banter bewtween the band. A blinding set and it was nice to hear Turn, leave out Jetstream and play JD songs at end.
My only downer was missing YSF for a pit stop.
What a fantastic gig!
Pity I didn't make it to the meet-up beforehand but the traffic was crap and I only just made it in time...
Ceremony! Fantastic...

the only downside was that it is becoming increasingly clear that stone-cold classics like round and round, the perfect kiss, vanishing point and mr.disco are being consigned to the rubbish bin for ever due to the need to satisfy phil's guitar wankery.

Nah, I didn't think they were up to much either. Felt they needed a 'bigger' tune to really beef up the end and leave us on a high. Would like to see perhaps Ceremony or Temptation pushed out to the encore. And maybe 31G appear earlier in the set.
Loved every single minute of it. Could not stop dancing and I was having the encore. Could not stop smiling. A massive thank you to Max for making it all real. Cheers brother.
Highlights: Ceremony, Love Vigilantes, Sirens', Temptation was blissed out and well fuckin' large. Loved it. Loved it. Loved it.
"vikings" "vikings" "vikings"
My twopenneth on an absolutely superb night. Amazing set, thought they were on top form
Extra bits:
Hi.... I found a viking pin in my pocket this morning and remembered a guy giving it to last night when I was in the thick of the pit... Just curious to what it is?
I want a viking pin ![]()
Shadowplay is one of my favourite songs, but I thought it felt a little flat.. fuck, I was right in the 'mosh pit' (lol, I hate to call it that, we're not exactly slipknot fans here) and at points I could barely follow along with the lyrics, the melody was pretty distorted.
That said, Warsaw I was more than glad to hear. Come on, they're playing an unusual song from their back catalogue for once, you've got to try and support it! (next, all we need is TPK and SUNRISE.)
