Given that I'll be up and about at some unearthly hour (probably after not sleeping due to post gig excitement.), and that me bus aint until nearly 1300. What's a guy to do in manc on a tuesday morning, especially if he aint exactly flush? things to see, pleasant places for a strole, cafe's with nice views who'll let you sit for hours ?

Steve.

I have a home 'Studio' virtually.

I aint working that week so I dont need sleep.

If you fancy pissing around with guitar, bass , cubase / Reason computer shit etc etc.. let me know.

But if you rant and rave in person as you do on this site then fook off.

You can help the rest of us nurse our hangovers.

BA, you aint heard nothin yet, I'm gonna need a T-shirt with subtitles, and it won't be cos I've got a wild accent (ask any of the rest of the NI Order, bangor people are a bunch of proper spoken snobs :) ), just a bit of a bandwidth issue....my gob goes faster than people's brains (including my own).

Sound like fun tho.

Clayhead, that's the scariest thought yet....... If aint able to drink...I'm gonna get the "designated thinker" or "responsible adult subsitute" armband. This would be a bad idea, not only do I know diddly about manc's geography and native customs, but if I were left in charge, I'd have you all standing outside the apollo at 6 o'clock with your tickets on display for inspection...no drinking smoking or talking, then, the moment we got in the door, I'd turn into Ebeneezer fucking Goode, foaming at the mouth and generally rioting until someone hit me, after the gig, i would mercilessly abuse and berate anyone attempting to go to bed for whatever reason before they consumed 3 times their own bodyweight in alcohol, then grafitti a few of the ones who didn't respond, and find somewhere warmer to pass out.

TBH I'm on the wrong side of thirty to be administering emergency hangover treatment, I'm usually so bad I get passed over in the "tea and fry" triage assessment, considered beyond help. Then again, if I'm sober... Aw crap, I better be in a fit state to drink, or I'm gonna end up being florence fucking nightingale.

Get yourself one of the free magazines that are hanging round in any cafe and that usually have a map of the city centre in them and find your way to exchange square. There you can have a go on a fucking massive big wheel with top views over the town and right across the pennines. That will blow the cobwebs off you!

does the wheel still have the commentary like last time? Guy with a boltonish accent?

my preferred things to do when hungover but for whatever reason can't go home: Go to the big waterstones on deansgate. The staff are permanently hungover too, so they don't care if you fall asleep on the sofa

eat a fry up extremely slowly in any number of top greasy spoons, essies is authentic hangover food. there are lots of curry places in the nothern qtr that are good too.

go to the whitworth cos it is extremely good, but possibly might be a bit much work on morning after vibe. Free though!

avoid market st or any shops because they will fry your brain except for if you've got the energy you could go to vinyl exchange/piccadilly records/fopp for some soothing music purchasing.

Now i wish i had the day off so i could fully enjoy my hangover!

Big wheel sounds like a brilliant plan, just the thing to sort me out....kinda like the London eye, but with a nice view :) They could put one in belfast "...and dat over dere's were big jamsie was shat....and dere's were dey blowed up all dem peelers and..."...inevitably tho, someone would steal it :)

It's been a morning of interesting developements here at slightlynarrow HQ(site B) Phonecall from wee sister @ $FUCKING_UNREASONABLE_TIME

"you still going to NO?" "well, duh" "can my boyfriend come?" "well duh"

Her BF is my oldest NO mucker, twas he and I who disturbed all and sundry with endless renditions of transmission and temptation when we were about 15. I've got a playmate. :) not only that, he has a credit card that actually WORKS (since I'm not a chav, I get the only benefit I'm entitled to, rather than all of them, so I can't exactly be running a CC, truth be told, I can't fookin afford to go to gigs, but as I've repeatedly said, something told me to go to this one), so the coach tickets are booked, and we have a couple of emergency backup crashing racks lined up in the hatter's hostel (cheap and nasty it would seem, but it's very near bus station and pub, easy for chcking in on arrival), in case for some reason, we don;t party til dawn.

Best of all, human company on that bus.

Liam, I'd keep it quiet if I were you mate, I'll not be the only lost soul in mankfester that morning. Make too much noise about a quiet day and I can see a whole viking horde decending, demanding cups of tea and general hospitality. I dunno about you, but people who expect hospitality are among my most loathed things on the morning after (chicks who put out the night before excepted of course :) ).

Go on the wheel, watch telly in the square, nip to Urbis and get a copy of the Saville show CD.

Oh, now there's an idea.

I assume mancherster's got a nice flat rate bus service too :) That should make mooching around a lot easier. Probably just end up sittin by a canal smokin a J :)

What's this about a wheel?! There's an ad doing the rounds on local radio down here advertising Manchester. A wheel was mentioned on that, plus the fact they've even got black cabs now, plus various shops we've got the same, etc.

Punchline of the ad was something like, "Manchester: it's just like London!"

Bless.

Oh, btw, they've got loads left (for 9.95) - popped in there on Sunday afternoon! :)

And, yeah, there's a big wheel in Exchange Square - not as big as The London Eye, but looks just as impressive - can't remember that was there the last time I was outside the Arndale Centre?

Anyway, since I foolishly went for a midday flight (on the Tuesday morning), I'll probably have to get up, run to the station, catch the train to the airport, and fly home... Why didn't I go for a later flight...
