Thanks to Gareth for the info:

Hi there,

in case you were wondering, Battle (myspace.com/thisisbattle) will be be main support for New Order at Brixton Academy on Thursday. Peter Hook gave his comments on the band for the NME in March this year and commented that they sounded like 'Warsaw, pre Joy-Division'.

regards,

Gareth

To be honest, I have never heard of them. But I have just checked out their site and under the details for Brixton, it says:

supporting New Order. Yes. New Order

as if they don't quite believe it themselves! Bless! :D

I suppose it's a big one for them. I wonder what time the support will be playing.

Battle are one of the new teen punk bands unearthed by XFM. And being dug up by Channel Four's Rock School etc.

They are technically very proficient with guitars, but, the pub is a better option.

If it was Outlaw, now that would be cool; They are only about 12, but make an almighty racket.

They have a couple of new members on their forum!

Good luck to 'em, I say. Warsaw were a support band for quite a while. Wondered whatever happened to them?!

I might step in to see the youngsters - imagine staying in the pub while Joy Division were playing, just because they were the 'support' band to The Buzzcocks then really kicking yourself afterwards because you missed them...

Nobody's making you go. I for one am looking forward to seeing a new young band, ACR have nothing to prove to anyone any more.

Exactly. Plus we get the front row to stake territory for later!

I've seen BAttle - went for the support band - Komakino - they are nice lads, one of them even gave me some of the rider & Tendency is a top song, but I feel they need a bit more time yet, have potential...

Defo worth seeing for Tendency though.

also I see Brixton have posted running times for the gig

Doors 7pm-11pm. The Delphian Complex 7.30-8.00pm, 8.15-8.45pm, New Order 9.15pm. Curfew 11.00pm

http://www.brixton-academy.co.uk/

guess they missed "Battle" out on the 8.15 - 8.45 slot.

our experience of the venue & the posted running times is that sometimes they can be pretty much spot on, others ....

gives a rough idea tho'.

anybody know anything about "The Delphian Complex" ?

see those E-Bay tkts are still really cheap too

From their website:

"Fusing searing guitars with cutting edge electronics, London/Bedford six-piece the Delphian Complex create a unique form of brooding electro-rock; a sound that owes as much to the Dance scene as to contemporary guitar music. Their intense and captivating live sets have ensured their status as a must-see band. Warm words for cold times."

Welcome :thumb:

Nice first post - polite too. Not like the oiks we get posting here.

I am listening to Tendancy now - they sound well worth missing half an hour of drinking for I'm sure.

"I know I dance like a drunken arse" - brilliant!

Drummer sounds good also.
