MANCHESTER Vs CANCER TICKETS ON SALE DATE ANNOUNCED

Great Northern Productions is proud to announce that tickets for the Manchester versus Cancer Concert in association with Key 103, will be going on sale from 10am on Saturday 17th December via Ticketmaster.

Taking place at the Manchester Evening News Arena on January 28th, the concert will see some of Manchester’s very own legends appearing on stage together for the first time ever.

Give the music fanatic in your family a Christmas to remember this year – with the gift of tickets to the biggest ever charity fundraising gig to be staged in Manchester.

New Order, Andy Rourke, Badly Drawn Boy, The Doves, Mani (Stone Roses and Primal Scream) and Stephen Fretwell are already signed up and we’re announcing even more huge names over the next few days and weeks. It could lead to some one-off, amazing collaborations on stage and is making people predict that this will be a once-in-a-lifetime event.

The gig was the idea of ex-Smith, Andy Rourke, following news that his manager’s sister and father had been diagnosed with cancer. Andy and friends decided to group together to raise £1million for alternatives to chemotherapy at Manchester’s Christie Hospital, Europe’s largest cancer treatment and research centre.

Picking up the phone to friends, Andy quickly found that most people’s lives had been touched by cancer in some way and everyone wanted to help. And more famous faces and bands are set to confirm over the coming weeks.

Speaking about the gig, Andy said: “It will bring together people and bands that have made Manchester famous. It will be huge and the idea is that this will be the start of an annual event to raise money for charity whether it is helping cancer or arthritis. It will be bigger and bigger each year, the highlight of the musical calendar.”

Local businesses can also get involved by treating their team or their clients to a VIP night at the concert as a limited number of boxes will also be on sale.

Monies will be raised through sponsorship as well as ticket and merchandise sales. Companies interested in sponsorship packages or purchasing a box should contact Stephen Chapman or Nova Rehman from Great Northern Productions at stephen@greatnorthern.uk.com or nova@greatnorthern.uk.com.

Toni Leden, Appeals Director at the Christie said: “Everyone at the Christie is extremely excited about the concert and we’re absolutely delighted that some of the biggest names in the music industry are giving up their time to support our cause – it is a massive coup for us! We hope it will be a fabulous event, that will raise a great deal of money for the hospital and help take us all towards a future without cancer.”

Ah, but the problem is, that you don't really want seating, especially at the back, as you can't see fcuk all (or maybe a stick man on the stage)!

Was at the Morrissey gig last year (his homecoming one on his birthday), and was at the seating bit towards the back of the Arena...

Must get standing tickets this time! :)

I can't see it holding 19,000, Earls Court is bigger and that only holds 15,000.

Mike Tyson's UK debut back in January 2000 caused a frenzy, both in terms of media and in the 'fight' to secure a ticket for this historical event. Tickets, priced from £30 up to a staggering £1,000 were quickly sold out. A massive 100 million television viewers, in 73 countries, and a sell-out 21,000 crowd in the Arena witnessed the fight.

We should all have loads of room and no probs getting tickets :)
