Plenty of time for them to announce some more shows, hopefully in France, but hopefully not until at least July or August!

Found this on the Chemical Brothers (official) website:

April 29th Henry J Kaiser Arena (with New Order), San Francisco.

Also got an email from a friend that says:

NEW ORDER WARM-UP GIG WITH THE CHEMICAL BROTHERS ON APRIL 29TH Feb 26, 2005 - 6:02:18 PM

New Order will be doing a warm-up concert in Oakland, California at the Henry J. Kaiser Arena on April 29th, 2005.

The Henry J. Kaiser is a venue that can receive 5000 to 7000 people depending on the setup.

This is the first non-festival US date confirmed by New Order (actually this is confirmed by the Chemical Brothers website), dates are expected to be included for Chicago and New York City soon.

Here we go again - someone's been looking at EFestivals.com again. Absolutely no point in listing these rumours as even being rumours, next thing we know it'll be in the NME that they are playing Reading, leading to denials, finger pointing and a whole load of bullshit and mistrust of this site. Bad enough reporting Brazil as confirmed without getting confirmation from the band first!

v festival will do me. already have tickets for v2006.i bought them the day after v 2005 ended :thumb:

Yeah, we should warn those people that those don't mean anything.

Although I did this to avoid 100 people posting about it.

But we should clearly state that.. I don't believe they will happen, but since it's a rumour, it's not worth the energy required to light up the pixels ;)

The timing certainly fits. Hope this goes ahead as I'm more than likely to head down to South America to attend these dates.

EDIT: I just love dodgy internet translations! This is the blog entry, put through freetranslation.com

It is confirmed for 17 from May the show of the New Order in Port Cheer Up [RS]. The band will be to main appeal of the Pepsi Stage. The information are of the newspaper "Zero Hour". Beyond the show in Port Cheer Up, the output of the band already confirmed a presentation in Rio, in the day 14 of May, but still did not announce the localities. After four years without throw unpublished nothing, the IN HIM astonished with the album Waiting Will Go The Sirens Call, of 2005. With a bigger presence of the guitars and less than the sintetizadores, the new music stayed more rock'n'roll. The disk is very for top. Sufficiency listen to the streak title and Hey Now What You Doing, for notice that. Even so, the band did not forget the public that enjoys the sound more dance and included in the disk Guilt I TO Useless Emotion, winner of the category Dance Music of the Grammy Awards 2006. The band of Manchester, England, is composed by ex-members of the Joy Division, that finished after the suicide of the singer Ian you Enjoy. In 1980, Bernard Sumner [vocal, guitar and keyboard], Peter Hook [short], Stephen Morris [battery] and Phil Cunningham [guitar and keyboard] resolved to form the New Order. In the following year to tecladista Gillian Gilbert, woman of Morris entered for the band, where stayed by 20 years, until leave for take care of domestic matters. Dentre the biggest successes of the IN THE this way, detach itself Bizarre Love Triangle [of the album Brotherhood, of 1986] and Regret [of the album Republic, of 1993]. After Republic, the New Order threw only two more albums: Get Ready [2001] and Waiting Will Go The Sirens Call [2005]. Recomendo a lot that hear this new CD, that is good too.

"Stephen Morris (Battery)"

So that's why Gillian isn't in the band anymore, he's obviously hitting her where the bruises show

Heh heh! Ian You Enjoy?

Oh, I love these online translators. I particularly enjoyed the translation of Porto Alegre as "Port Cheer Up". Happy Harbour would be the more precise translation, in case you're curious.

Only the first two paragraphs that matter. Briefly, they say that the gig in Porto Alegre at Pepsi Stage on May 17th is confirmed. A gig in Rio de Janeiro is also confirmed for May 14th but the venue is still to be announced.

Since I have never heard of this guy before, I can't really say how trustworthy he is.

One Brain wrote: Since I have never heard of this guy before, I can't really say how trustworthy he is.

Victor Rib is a young and little known reporter yet. But he really worked in the Fluminense FM Station, so he has access to people that would have some informations about the gigs. But I think we still have to wait for more reliable news.

Internet translation is very funny, but I think my bad english is a little better than those translations!!! :D

It would be very nice to see them in Italy again. Last summer in Turin, their concert was breath taking to me!

Festivals in UK would be nice, dont talk to me about rumours though. In 1998 we all fell for one here in Warrington (18 miles down the motorway from Manchester) that NO were doing a pre-Reading warm up gig in the Warrington Parr Hall. Seems obvious it was BS looking back, but when you've had a load of lager and a bit of the other on a sunny thursday afternoon you will believe anything. And we did...........

Do they give a reason, cos the (admittedly second hand) info I've got is slightly bizarre, to say the least.

Some people said it was due to an "urgent family issue", while a well-known music journalist said it was due to an "illness in a member of the band".

In a roundabout kind-of way the latter is similar to what I've heard, which doesn't really make a lot of sense.

Shame this. I know me, JG and Wolfram were defo going over and a few more defo thinking about it.

I'll get to South America one day!

It's a shame, really. I was expecting to see the Vikings around here. I was planning to go to all gigs, even the Porto Alegre one in the middle of the week.

We still have two Peter Hook DJ sets in June as a consolation prize.

Fuck off.

If you can't make the effort to travel less than two hours to Blackpool, Wolves or Newcastle you don't deserve to see them.
