What NO/JD songs that you haven't heard for a while would you like to see the lads do at the forthcoming gigs in October? For me personally I wouldn't mind some (preferably all) of the following in the set list.

Vanishing Point - not played since the Reading Festival gig 25/08/89 and a good example of NO in their 'Ibiza/Technique' period!

Round & Round - not played since Reading Festival gig 29/08/93 and again classic NO in their 'Ibiza/Technique' era!

Run (2) - not played since Manchester Apollo gig 16/07/98 and a perfect example of NO's indie rock meets dance approach!

Heart & Soul - not played since Ally Pally gig 31/12/98 and a JD song I really like as its one of their more unusual songs!

Fine Time - not played since Ally Pally gig 31/12/98 one of NO's ultimate excursions into Dance/House/Techno in the late 1980's

New Dawn Fades - not played since Glen Helen, Devore CA gig 05/08/01 and IMO a classic JD song. I also like Moby's cover as well!

This is what I'd like to see the set and what songs would other people like to see NO do in the October set? Cheers!

I'd probably get bored & restless if it wasn't the usual shite tunes - unless they were practised versions

Sunrise, Dream Attack, Procession, Decades

I'd be happy with just Age of Consent!

Dreams never end as an instrumental which would lead into Ceremony. Age of consent, leave me alone, a few songs off Technique (including Run and maybe vanishing point though I'm not sure how the latter would come across live) and perfect Kiss would be fantastic. Wouldn't mind hearing Weirdo either. I can (day)dream.

As much as I'm besotted by them on record BLT and true faith can be spared as they sound pretty lame live.

New Order : Round & Round, Subculture, Dreams Never End, Thieves Like Us.

Joy Divison : Disorder, New Dawn Fades, They Walked In Line, These Days.

Thanks for the feedback to my post I think - if any different songs are going to be included in the NO set list for October the popular choices are

New Dawn Fades - from the JD era

Dreams Never End - early NO era and would be interesting to hear Hooky do vocals on this, seems to handle B-vox on True Faith pretty well IMO!

Age of Consent

Sunrise

Theives Like Us - from NO's Arthur Baker/Electro era

Round & Round & Run (2) - from NO's Technique era

I also reckon Ruined In A Day could maybe be a candidate for inclusion to the October set but as its not be played live for a while this is just my opinion as I like the song. What do you think!

This wasn't part of the NO show - they joined Moby on stage. Doubt we can really call this them playing the song as part of an NO gig!

Ah I always wondered how Bernard would have handled the lyrics in New Dawn Fades as they do seem to favour Moby better. BTW were you at this gig as would've liked to have seen NO in action with Moby, cheers!:thumb:

Didn't do this one, a few of the Vikings were there though.

everybody asks for Age of Consent it seems every time this question is asked - and I'm sure Hooky would love it. So come on lads - get it sorted, your public demands!!!!!

I'll settle for that for Bournemouth..........and if they're feeling generous Vanishing Point and Leave Me Alone would do nicely too

Basically we need to apply the "can Bernard sing it?" test to each of the requests. The yardstick being that if he struggled to sing it in one key back in the mid 80s, he sure as hell can't do it now. We then need to assess whether a required key change would still sound good or not - we're hearing the new Perfect Kiss Lite now, which is what we asked for even if a watered down version, and I know we are all grateful even for this abridged version. Then we need to assess whether sequencing/sampling would be required.

Sunrise - would defo need a key change Age of Consent - probably needs a key change, and needs a bass sequencer underpinning it Procession - wouldn't need any changes at all This Time Of Night - needs a key change and sequencing The Village - hate to think! defo needs sequencing Hurt - needs a miracle ;) Thieves Like Us - key change? Lonesome Tonight - no changes Leave Me Alone - no changes Dreams Never End - no changes Confusion - could use 98 version Run - who knows? Dream Attack - would need bass sequencer part Vanishing Point - needs sequencing original BLT - needs sequencing

any others that people can think of?

Dreams Never End it is then, no sequencing, and Barney doesn't sing it!

Didn't Gillian play the Bass synth part in AOC?

Defo. As good a New Order song as anything else they ain't playing at the moment.

Nice to stick Hooky in the firing line for three minutes too!

Yeah, but Phil Cunningham can't play with two hands, can he? And there's two parts at times.

If there isn't a great deal of work to be done to resurrect these two classics, then i'd love to hear them. AOC would be the ultimate for me though.

Geez give the guy a little credit. I can play it with my eyes closed and I wasn't asked to join the group!

What about 'Here to Stay', I'd heard a rumour, probably on NOOL that this had actually been programmed by Roger Lyons, I might of just dreamt this though!

Any NO ones they want but since I'll be at the Glasgow gigs I wouldn't advise that "World In Motion" crap. No more murdering JD classics either, Barney just sounds like a wimp singing Curtis's lyrics.

If they are going to insist on doing JD tunes, I wish they would do a couple they are awesome at (as opposed to that lounge-jazz version of shadowplay)...like Isolation and Heart and Soul.

Sunrise, AOC, DNE could easily be integrated back in to the set. Was listening to Such A Good Thing last night. A song I've not really bothered with but a worthy inclusion in the set if no new songs will be played.
