I will reply, but this doesn't belong here, so Tim, feel free to delete.

We are thinking about NOOL Day in Baltimore if there are any people interested. Problem is, New Order aren't touring in the USA right now, otherwise, it would have been done.

Plus, we "sort of" had NOOL Day in Chicago in 2005.

Yup!

tim, could you organise a neworderonline day for all those people who can't make it to south london. somewhere more accessible, and better timed, than the capital on the night after the re:al order have played....? hmmm.... if not: "norf london's 4th best tribute to new order" will be there and will rope in a flange of acquaintances and better halves too.

jesse, if the dick in your butt is bloody I would suggest using a better lubricant

Jesse, do what we had to, get off your butt and organise it yourself if you want it! Nobody has made this happen just by magic you know, it's taken several months of work. You could always come over for it like many of your fellow Americans are - guess you'll be easily recognisable by the bloody dick in your butt......

bah... i can't afford several thousand dollars. and i was just being snotty. it's just that being a new order fan in america is kind of masochistic. we never get to see them play, we pay double for imports, we get a new order themed night at the clubs once every blue moon....

really, what i'm saying is this:

IT'S NOT FAIR!

(i want to cry.)

as for all your "bloody dick" comments, shove it. it was mine and now you've ruined it for me. come up with something of your own. you only insult yourself when you insult me with my own words (he says highly).

poop.

I really wish I could make it, but I'll be using my vacation time towards my trip to South America instead. :D

And Jesse, if you want something bad enough, you gotta find a way to go after it instead of waiting for it to come to you. You don't hear the Vikings complain about how difficult it is to follow New Order to the ends of the earth, and they get to see them in their home country way more than we do! Some of us North Americans (not me) are making the trek over to the UK for this event, which I certainly don't think is too much considering how some of those UKers came to America last year. I'm going to South America instead and some of those crazy Vikings are going there too (you nutters)!

And oh yeah... those fans in South America have been waiting 18 years for New Order to come back to their vicinity. Certainly we in the USA don't have it all that bad.

Go for it - NOOL Day was something Spotnick came up with to describe what was essentially a day where NOOL came together! All sensible suggestions for an alternative name considered.

Yep, good idea. "NOOL Day" is a bit cheesey/trite as a moniker.

Another competition folks?!

Can we get away frm the word 'Community' too, please?

Unless, of course, it's got a 'Care in the' stuck in front of it?!

isn't something supposed to happen at the Bournemouth gig? like a two hour JD set followed by a 4 hour NO set including 10 tracks not played since 89 and all the track from the new one? ok, Im exaggerating, but I was just under the impression it was going to be a special event of sorts, an aniversary gig, correct?

Bournemouth is supposed to be a bit special, yes. Our day will at least be sandwiched between two NO gigs, so theoretically you would get three good gigs for your money rather than just the Bournemouth one. Pity they are 20 days apart really!

The idea is to get 275 people into the venue, paying £10 each or whatever we charge, so that we can raise some money for Cancer Research and the NSPCC. Inevitably, as Jesse so eloquently pointed out, the majority of the site's members are disenfranchised by the fact that this is taking place in London rather than anywhere else in the world.

As long as we fill the place and everyone has a good time, I don't care how many posts people have, personally. Anyone who posts regularly and who lives in the UK and who isn't coming had better have a fookin' good reason why they ain't coming, though!

How's about calling it "Event" (with the date after it), then? Much like those '89 NeworderConcert/Festival t-shirts. Always like the implicit cynicism of those

It's a lame initial offering, I know, but a bit sexier than "NOOL Day", surely? Will there be a poll on this at the end? Perhaps we could go a bit more enigmatic and spell summat out purely in colour codings = no wording at all. Or does this make t-shirts/badges/tatoos(!?) too expensive to produce???

I INTEND to take a stereo feed from the mixer and a stereo ambient mic and record them to a laptop (if available). With any luck, on the Sunday I will be able to rough dump each band's set to CDR to be given to them at Wolves.

Worst case, I'll just take the mixer feed, ugly, but cheaper.

I would point out to the rest of you, that I'll NOT be doing copies for the masses. Those will have to come from the bands or through official NOOL channels.

Will be there. I can bring my powerbook and mbox.

Will the new CD be out then?

We should defo do a "NOOL Day Sampler", with songs from the bands actually there that day... and give it to all person there.

Custom made CDR are cheap...

Here's an idea ;)

Get designing then....we've got a couple of tracks recorded that nobody has really had much chance to listen to, and I'm sure the other participants will have something as well.

Well, I wanted to print custom printed NOOL CDR for something else, so it might as well have a dual purpose to justify the expense.

Who knows.. I might even try to get a rarity a la Hacienda Flexi :evil4:, but don't expect anything ;)

I'll think about it as I'll be in London for New Order the night before...!

A free CDR of the bands participating?

I'm sure Flight could rustle up something original for the disc.

The new Flight album Spotnik should be out around the time of the NOOL show - there or thereabouts.

So if anyone's looking to buy a friend an ashtray for Xmas........

Damn, Event was gonna be my suggestion for the name... Or NOOLapalooza... :evil4: Anyways, looking forward to it... :thumb:

I was reading the newspaper this week-end, apparently there was a Shania Twain convention, the 4th one, in Timmins, Ontario last week-end.

Gee, we're close to become those kind of freaks or what

NOOL Event '06

Will this become a yearly event though? Or only years NO are touring...

So, we're still keeping the NOOL bit?

Rather than 'NOOL Day' it's now 'NOOL Event'?!

I thought it was just 'Event'?! Bit more Factoryish.

No, it's just "Event". The NOOL bit is only tacked on on this forum so people know what it is about.

There's gonna be an announcement on Monday about the NOOL Event. Fear not, it's good news, but it will mean that people won't need to head to SW17, but a more central location instead. Yes I've had to switch the venue. More on Monday - can't say anymore than this yet until contracts etc sorted.

Just to get this straight.. you guys will do a JD set and they will do a NO set, is that it?

I hope nobody will do the songs they will actually play on those nights and please us with some stuff nobody heard live in a while :evil4:, but I'll leave that to you of course.

Should be a blast.

At the moment, I would guess that Digital will do an all-JD set and Re: Order will do an all-NO set. I would guess that 3 of the songs we will be playing will also be played by New Order on this tour. I've seen Jack's setlist, and there is one song overlapping with what we would have intended to do, we'll leave that one out on this occasion. Don't know what Flight have planned for us in terms of covers.

Who knows though, you may get a set of all Digital original material yet!

I shall be in a hotel myself that night! You can always get cancellation refund if you booked hotel near Colliers Wood, you'd be giving them plenty of notice. May be best booking a hotel somewhere near Euston, there's the clue!

We know they recorded Shadowplay, Digital, Dreams Never End, Your Silent Face and Truth... that's a good start, but due to the lenght of the set, I hope they will play original material and maybe include a cover ;)

Better learn some french-canadian swearing then... quite easy, put "tabarnac" or "calisse" anywhere you want.

It's a noun, adverb, verb, qualifier... it can be used in all occasions ;)

We have other, they are usually based on catholic church relics.

Out of my hands I'm afraid, can't say anything more until I hear back from the venue promoter. Suffice to say that the event will be taking place in a large and popular venue in central London, with good transport links to everywhere.
