24 HOUR PARTY PINUPSSATURDAY 9TH SEPTEMBERTHE ARCHES, 10PM - 3AM, £10 IN ADVANCENEW AND CLASSIC INDIE, PUNK, SOUL & 2 TONEGUEST DJ: TONY WILSONPLAYING LIVE: DIGITAL (LONDON-BASED NEW ORDER/JOY DIVISION TRIBUTE)

Apologies, I take it everybody on here doesn't need to be tolds who Tony Wilson is! But here's the blurb...

Pinup Nights visits the Arches in Glasgow for the first time with a special night headlined by Factory Records founder Tony Wilson. A man of impeccable taste and champion of Joy Division, New Order and the Happy Mondays, Mr Wilson will be treating us to special Guest DJ slot. Live support comes in the form of London's Joy Divison/New Order tribute "Digital", and a selection of top local bands (TBC), while our 2 disco rooms will be manned by The Rick McManus Soundsystem, the Pinups DJs, and one or 2 other lads we know of who may just play a few "dance" records so that we capture that Hacienda vibe. Dance music at Pinup Nights! It's all happening...

Tickets are available now on our online shop at www.pinup-nights.co.uk

Thanks for reading

WHO'S TONY WILSON?

This is a great venue. I went there when United played Rangers and they gave the whole place over to United fans. Superb accoustics and very central.

Hope you enjoy it.

I'll be at this with Muffy. Recommend anybody else that's in the area should pop along and show their support as well. I'll be wearing the "WILSON IS A CUNT" t-shirt.

This promises to be a great show, Digital plus St.Deluxe, and then you get Tony Wilson to throw things and hurl abuse at!

What better use could you put a tenner to?

We've just sorted out our setlist for this show, JD and NO fans won't be disappointed (except maybe by the fact that we have Ricky Gervais on bass instead of Hooky :bag: )

Quick question, how much is it to pay at the door on the night ? As after checking out The Arches website, it says you have to pick your tickets up before 8pm on Saturday :confused2:

Cheers, Matty.

I don't know if tickets are available on the door, Matty. Best to check with the promoters I guess.

Well, we rather enjoyed ourselves at this one! Pretty decent crowd as well, about 800 in the house, and we delivered a set of mixed JD/No material. Highlights for us were probably Heart And Soul, LWTUA, Your Silent Face and Blue Monday. I'll stick a couple of MP3s up when I've transferred them across from the minidisc.

We played:

Crystal Transmission Sunrise Atmosphere Heart And Soul Your Silent Face LWTUA Decades Perfect Kiss Procession She's Lost Control Blue Monday

we had to pull Isolation, Disorder, Ceremony and Temptation as we went on late (like way after midnight!). Good to catch up with Muffy and GlasVegas before the show, hope you enjoyed it fellas!

Great night and a not bad turnout. Never seen Wilson lose that smarmy self-assured look of his but he was like a fish out of water behind the decks. And I think I saw about four people dance all night, keep the day job (whatever it is.). Was also disturbed to hear that he insisted on being put up in One Devonshire Gardens, Glasgow's most over-hyped and over-priced hotel. Punk rock my arse.

Good set from Digital though the sound guy should've been taken out and shot. No lead guitar during the first two songs. I got some crackin sounds out that big fancy Mouth Organ in the taxi home though ;)

I think the sound thing was down to a bit of unfamiliarity with the music from the sound guy, he kept taking the guitar levels down every time I was singing, and not bringing them back up when I started playing. There was nothing through the monitor mix either on Crystal and Transmission, and it only came on part way through Sunrise. Never mind, it was still a good night.

Ah yes, the melodica.....
