If T4 on The Beach with The Pussycat Dolls and Will Young had you cringing and the absence of Glastonbury has caused your summer to lack excitement, then Cohesion Live will restore your faith in music festivals. Manchester’s newest and biggest outdoor music festival will take place on 23 September 2006 in Platt Fields Park as Manchester Aid to Kosovo (MaK) aim raise funds to complete the Manchester Peace Park in Kosova.

Backed by XFM Manchester, this promises to be one of the musical highlights of the year as well as an historic occasion. With special guest headliners, there are homegrown stars and stalwarts of the music scene. Badly Drawn Boy, Elbow, I Am Kloot and Durutti Column, line up on the main stage alongside ex-Blur guitarist and NME’s Best Solo Artist, Graham Coxon. Ex-Smiths bassist Andy Rourke has formed a super group for the event and 808 State’s Graham Massey adds some thumping beats thanks to his latest project, Toolshed. Doves will escape the confines of the recording studio to join the line up for an exclusive DJ set.

The second stage, curated by the pioneering High Voltage Sounds, sees hotly-tipped trio The Longcut headline with appearances from Roland Shanks, Sunshine Underground, The KBC and more.

As well as a festival market with a fantastic range of food choices there will be bars, a fair and a host of creative entertainment and fun-packed activities throughout the park. The city hasn’t seen anything like it and as MaK patron, Badly Drawn Boy, aka Damon Gough has said, the event is about “celebrating life.” It’s hardly a lofty claim as Manchester Aid to Kosova has been working since 1999 to support the Kosovan people and help them rebuild their lives following the brutal ethnic cleansing campaign in the Balkans.

The festival has its roots in Cohesion, a critically acclaimed 36-track compilation CD produced in 2001by MaK. It featured some of Manchester’s best musicians including Badly Drawn Boy, Elbow, Ian Brown, Doves and Mr Scruff. Now, Cohesion Live! reunites many of these artists, bringing the spirit of the original Cohesion CD gloriously to life at this unique festival.

As its Kloot everything else that was planned for that day has been dropped.

i think the plan is Pub, Kloot, Pub, Elbow, Pub. In that order.

I wonder who Andy Rourkes special guests might be... :shades:

Nicely. I'll get it booked in my diary!

Hopefully weather will be nicer than it is today!

Will probably go in for Durutti as well. Shame Doves are only doing a DJ set mind. That does mean that i wont be arsed with them.

Yes, but why let a fact get in the way of a good rumour?! :shades:

Great. Its either going to be Vinny Peculiar, That cunt Mike Joyce, Johnny Marr, or another Damon Gough set. Awesome.
