I am very pleased to announce that NOOL Day will be taking place on Saturday 28th October as planned.

During the day there will be a football tournament and lots of drinking, then after dark........

At the famous ULU Venue, Malet Street (where JD played in 1980 and NO played in 1985)

we have a gig featuring:

Peter Hook DJ set Re: Order Digital Flight Jack's Band Monty on the decks

plus very special guests.

All this is in aid of Cancer Research and the NSPCC.

Tickets will be £10, and on sale from me very shortly. Details of tickets sales to follow, you will be able to order them mail order from me (+£1 postage and paypal fee), or pick them up direct from me at any of the NO gigs in October.

There will also be the chance for NOOL members who are not able to attend the day to buy a "virtual ticket", for which you will get an exclusive CD featuring all the acts involved in the day.

Fire away with any questions......

Well done, two for us.:thumb:

Regarding payment at the forthcoming gigs, have you thought about how much cash you may have in your pocket as a result?

A couple of quick questions though:

How are you expecting to fill the place cos its gotta hold mebbe 600 or more.

Where are the students that week?. Is it half term?

And are you getting the student bar too?.. cos its feckin cheap:bow:

Tempting, very tempting. I’ve got the money to fly, but I would like to know if there are tickets to any of the Oct 27 or Oct 29 gigs still available? Not worth going if I cant go to at least one gig.

Students will be there, it's not a private party.

Venue holds up to 1000 I was told.

This leaves around 400 places for NOOLers apparently, Tim will correct me or censor me on this one ;)

27 yes, without any problem... 29 is a problem since it's sold out, but if you manage to find a pair of tickets, I'm a taker ;)

I will try to get on the guest list, but I'm sure tickets will be available for it eventually.

People will still be able to pay up front via Paypal, I will simply hand over the tickets in person at the NO gigs rather than posting them - it's up to the individual to decide whether they want ticket posted or hand-delivered.

Lovely venue and it runs off the tongue so easily! Ooo-looo!

I've actually got some sort of floor-planner from a Karl Bartos gig at said venue a few years back which has got capacity of rooms listed on it. It's a different shape to when New Order played it (well, guess that was 21 years back!). That part could only hold 500 tops I guess? But there's an annexe off right in the corner, level with the stage which is the bar 'proper' now (think it was in an entirely different part of the building before?). Guess that room holds the additional 500?! So you now get an L shape area instead of just the concert hall itself.

400 NOOLers though, Nick?! We don't get that for New Order gigs! :eek3:

Yeah, they've done some restructuring of the venue recently, and for this night we have the whole thing. There will be one bar with a DJ playing pop stuff, and the rest of the venue (main hall now holds 800) will be given over to what we are doing. Doors will open at 7.30 with bands on from 8 (and the running order is such that you will want to be there early to see some history being made!), then when the bands are done it switches over to becoming a full-on club night, with Monty and Hooky playing the records/CDs!

Students will be able to get in for £5 on production of a valid NUS card (good news for Frog Chorus and Marc!). I will be taking 300 tickets and we'll see how we get on. I would expect that we will have similar numbers to what we got in the Audley before Hyde Park, and with the right publicity and a bit of hard work this will increase. There will be up to 600 students attending, as they get every week. We'll put the remaining tickets on general public sale in the last week or so depending on how the earlier sales have gone, but I'm confident that we will get pretty close to 1000 in. This will raise a guaranteed £2k for Cancer Research, plus Hooky's fee is going to the NSPCC.

Fcuk me, that main bit holds 800?! How did they manage that? Do we have to stand on one another's heads?! :eek3:

Regarding the football tournament.I may be intrested in playing but where will peeps be able to change afterwards? Dont fancy spending the evening in t shirt and shorts that i ve been playing footie in!

edit; just read again that the footie wil be much earlier in the day.Guess participants can change back at their digs before the evening's partying?

I said it leaves space for it, not that it will happen ;)

But you know, there are many lurkers, so you never know...

But obviously, not 400 regulars ;)

Dave Alego and Bill Davies are member here.. they are on Community (with Dreams Never End) and did TRUTH for Community 2 which finished in the Top 15 I believe.

Any details on the CD?

Each of the bands playing on the day will be providing a track for the CD - it's entirely up to them what that track will be. More details soon!

Goddam, you have no idea how much I want to go to this!

I've tried to get my head round what i can do to be at either the Wolves/Wembley gig and Event, but the trains are shit from Liverpool (i'd have to wait usually about 6 hours in Manchester Piccadilly or somewhere), plus i'm financially embarassed when it comes to booking hotels etc:cry:

I think it may just be Blackpool and Newcastle for me..

Plus, i think the chances of cleverly disguising this as a nice weekend away in London to my girlfriend would be pretty slim...

WHEY!! Nice one Tim.Well done for getting ULU for EVENT. Keane did an exclusive set there a few months ago. I am counting down the days as we speak.
