Entirely up to you - depends whether you want to be carrying the ticket round with you all night! Easier to post it probably, I'm going to the post office in about half an hour to send some off to the States and Europe, so if you want to be included in that batch then bung us through £11.50 via Paypal, or find me on Monday.

A weatherspoons that's not far from the venue either sounds like it could be a bonus....

It is indeed a typical Wetherspoons, but its about as close to the venue as you will find a large pub. There is a bar opposite the BIC, but i would think the Moon will be more what you guys are after, the place opposite is a bit yoof (or it was when i used to live down that neck of the woods)

The Brasshouse might be worth a look, at the opposite end of the gardens to the beach.

Dont go in the BIC until you have to, the bar is shit

Found this about the weatherspoons, sounds like a top starting place for a Northern Day out !!

user reviews of the Moon in the Square, Bournemouth

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

5 most recent reviews of 41 shown - see all reviews Got very run down and dirty, you stick to the carpet. Terrible service. anonymous - 22 Sep 2006 14:25 OK despite what I say - I admit now that I go here occasionally because it's better than the others in the square.

But sorry the beer is bad = so buy the bottles, the food is packaged & frozen, the bar staff are NOT a happy bunch, no-one clears the plates or the glasses away from the tables or can even cast a smile when they serve you. But you pay for what you get. Pile it high and sell it cheap. But be careful the offers can change and catch you out.

You are better off buying shares in this one than a pint of beer but some one out there likes it. You can see by the queues. If only they had one of them ticket machines so they knew who was next at the bar. Yep, if Tesco's cheese counter ran a pub it would be so much better and chessier. anonymous - 4 Sep 2006 04:43 Not a bad Spoons. Was relieved to start racking in the cheapies as Bournemouth seems expensive! Only problem food took ages to arrive!!

Wineo - 23 Aug 2006 11:31 I have never seen any hillbilly people outside of Nashville, Tennessee, certainly not in Dorset!

I went to The Moon this lunchtime; you detractors should climb the stairs, get away from the disgusting smoke on the ground floor, and enjoy Wetherspoons at its best.

Three meals, three drinks and change from 20 quid. And the Spitfire was first-class at only £1.65 per pint. I pay exactly £1 more in a crap hole in North Hampshire.

Staff were warm and friendly (and spoke excellent English being Bournemouth locals.

Can't fault the place! PsychO - 11 Aug 2006 21:48 What a dump. Went there last Thursday whilst visiting Bournemouth and it is full of hillbilly type people who make the place looke a right mess and staff don't seem to have a clue what they are doing. Took 10 minutes to get served aswell.

Looks like it is our kind of place. Hillbillies, all the better for taking the piss out of. Do you think that we should let them know that we are going to decend apon them. Don't want to be waiting around for the beer!!

I think if you want a no frills bar - wetherspoons maybe your best bet! There are lots of other bars newr the BIC but alot of them are posh, all white kinda bars - these can be good just depends on what you are up for. There is oneils and irish bar at the lansdowne about a ten minute walk, very good bar, i like the littern tree for pre drinks whenever i go an party. Do be carefull though some are silly money - thats whay wetherspoons may be good - close to everything too. Not sure if you guys smoke and wether you can now in wetherspoons?? You can at the aftershow gig though guys. Always a pleasure Heidi

Just remember to -please- text me with the name of the place you guys will be in. I dont fly in till 7pm (fingers crossed Ryanair!) - so it'll be a quick dump-the-bag & run to the pub before the gig - obviously a pub fairly near to the gig would suit me best then - but with LOTS of comfie seating - i like to get drunk in comfort:D

Geez, guess I,m glad we found one of these internet phone booths . . . . would,ve missed out on the aftershow party. See you all at wetherspoons - - - I,ve seen one in just about every city I,ve been to so far. Haven,t gotten lost yet - - - maybe close to getting struck by a car or two . . . us silly Canadians drive on the the otherside of the road.
