This seems to be the chosen train to move the hordes from Event to the gig.

If anyone's up for it I'll be in the Britannia pub, upstairs by the concourse for hair of the dog/livener from about 12-12.30.

Yup, that's my train too. (was the earliest one I could get the total cheap bastard fare for) Hope it has a bar car so we have somewhere to gather, gawd help the normal passengers if not :D

Hey that's my train too.

For a North American not used to train travel, how far ahead should one show up? Do we have to carry our luggage on ourselves? I seem to recall no checked luggage last time I travelled by train in Europe, which was quite a while ago..

for some reason, we cannot seem to find those cheap tickets to W'hampton. The only 'cheap' fare we've got so far is £27 each... Any advice, anyone?

Yes, I just checked, it seems that either all the cheapos have been snapped up, or that you had to booked them a certain amount of time in advance...pants. Still 27 bills for half the length of the country aint too bad.

Being a Richard Branson Virgin train, you could probably turn up at 14:00 and still catch it :brow:

Seriously though, you should be able to board about 13:00. If you've only got a booking reference and need to collect your ticket from the machines, give yourself 20 mins extra, the wait in line can be long.

You'll have to carry your own bags

More likely a breast inspector :D

BTW, foreign guests...the clocks go back the night before, so don't forget, or you'll be turning up at 1230 all confused ;)

I'm on the 12:30, it was the only direct connection I've seen then.

Which is why we get an extra hour of Blue Saturday for free!

Good point.

I didn't think of that.

Would be a shame to miss my train on my birthday on my way to a gig, wouldn't it?
