A mad couple of days in Glasgow and two great gigs. Barney was on special form on Wednesday - not seen him sing that well since... well, not ever. Thursday was a little more chaotic, but still excellent. Both afterpartys were great and well done to Hooky for soldering on through that bad back - with two broken ribs I've only got sympathy for a fellow sufferer.
Highlight of both gigs was These Days - a classic song with a really clean New Order performance. Fairly clean LWTUA too - well done to Barney for keeping the CAHM AHHNS down to a reasonable level. No Atmosphere though - sort it out.
Guilt is a Useless Live Track - just doesn't belong I'm afraid.
Much thanks to Glas Vegas for posting my picture - quite a few people (and, I'm pleased to report, all girls) came over to say hello and claim their free drink. Free drunk more like, I was hammered! Sorry girls.

Order was quite different to the night before, Geri. I bet they wanted decent versions of a few songs before they started to look all sweaty and out of breath! Barney wore the same shirt for both nights, so clearly the plan is to mix both gigs for a DVD release (they filmed both nights). I'll fuck their plans though - I'm wearing different clothes and even took my coat off at one point
I won't try to remember the list, but the bones of it are...
Played Turn and These Days early on, started with Troo Faith the night before. Ceremony was awesome - also an eary appearance. No intro to Ceremony; Hooky just pointed at someone in the crowd, as if dedicating it to them, then launched into the intro, nodding his head like a Beatle KW1 was very good. 'Dance set' started with Guilt, then BLT (and True Faith? It's all a haze). Temptation was perfection, the roof nearly came off the place. Perfect Kiss and Blue Monday ended the show - powerful versions of both. Diggy Mike nodded his head a bit during Blue Monday, until he saw us watching him. Encore was Shadowplay (which I thought sounded terrible) and a CAHM AHN lite LWTUA.
Barney tried a bit of Spanish on the crowd, who roundly booed him.
The lights were wonderful - looking back from the stage was great. Luton Order will confirm this.

Has to be said that the best people in the world follow New Order.

Well, Love Will Tear Us Apart on Wednesday had 6 C'Mon's and Thursday had 5 C'Mon's!
There will be a set-list for Thursday posted shortly - it might take a couple of days for those who noted such things (not I!) to recover and post! :)
Suffice to say that they didn't start with "True Faith" on Thursday and (if memory serves me correctly) didn't play it all. In fact, the setlist seemed to me exactly the same as Blackpool (i.e. standard set with inclusion of "These Days" and "Guilt"), but that would need to be confirmed by somebody with more brain power than me!
I don't remember, too. But I think the wednesday gig was better. David Sultan said to me at the after show party, they didn't make a soundcheck on thursday, because of Hooky's back.

Was at both gigs, Barney's weak vocals were present both nights but he put forth the effort. Time hasnae been kind to the mechanix of the vocals overall. Nevertheless, good shows (not great - like vintage '81 - '86).

Ultimately (and sad to say), I'd go again just cause the tunes are embedded in me psyche.....

The soundcheck was not done on Thursday cause they were happy with the sound on Wednesday.
I was a bit lost in Glasgow yesterday and heard the strains of the Good the Bad and the Ugly. I followed the sound to the exact spot where me, Roy and Ally had to wait for the girls on Wednesday (they'll know where I mean) and there he was - A busker with a strat!
I stayed until he finished the song but New Order didn't come on. Then I legged it with my fingers in my ears in case he started playing Albatros!

Which, according to Dian, New Order's soundage person, is Hooky's choice of track. I asked her in Blackpool.

I was hammered at the Newcastle gig, so remembered very little, nice to enjoy the Glasgow gig unfettered by booze. Great performance, up there with the best, even against their 85,86,87 Scottish gigs.
One question - and this is bugging the ass off me - one of the records played pre-gig was familiar but i can't place it. NOT Kraftwerk, Afrika bambatta or Shannon, and it was played just before the finale morricone track - any ideas - quite funky, synthy and oddball.

mmmm, not sure. I do like my old skool electro but it wasn't hashim. Definitely a contemporary dance choon, for want of a better expression, as all the young birds behind the bar started gyrating when it came on.

Here is the Scotsman review of the show on the 18th. I was at the show on the 19th. I thought that Shadowplay sounded great. "Guilt" was flat and forgettable. Ceremony and These Days were thrilling.

Hi folks I'm new on here. I was at the show on the 19th, it's the first time I've seen them and it was fcuking fantastic!!
They played Chemical Brothers - Hey Boy Hey Girl round about then, but dunno if that's the song you mean.

I was at the second night in Glasgow - loved it, but was a little disappointed by Shadowplay instead of Transmission in the encore.
By the way, I counted 10 Come On's during LWTUA at the Electric Picnic in Ireland. Is that a record?!

That'll be Justice v Simian "Never Be Alone (We Are Your Friends)". It actually came out about three years ago and did nothing but was released a couple of weeks back and broke the top 20. Part of this new-electro thing that's bothering the stoodent discos nowadays. You'll find it on Itunes or......on the Pet Shop Boy's "Back To Mine" mix.

Fantastic! the prize goes to Glasvegas. Just listened to it and that's the one. I will avoid sourcing it on PSB comp though - a step too far.
