I was looking on the Liverpool Echo website the other day and found this interesting article about the financial state of last years Summer Pops event. Basically - as I thought, Liverpool City Council bailed out the event to the tune of £800k due to what is described as 'big losses' and since the event was founded subsidies have from the city council have been to the tune of £3m. Now we were all p***ed off with the security muppets at the event and overall if CMP are needing large subsidies to run something arena's in other cities make money with maybe it is about time the city council gave it to another party. My vote would be with the Cream consortium as they seem to run Creamfields fairly successfully and actually make a profit from the event without needing subsidies. BTW I am originally from Liverpool and I wan't events like the Summer Pop's to succeed and there's a nice little pic of NO in action at the event. Cheers!:thumb:

That tent is evil and must be banned.

Did the promoters reply to the complaints made?

Hi Chris LOL! :abovelol: Still I suppose some repsonse is better than no response. Anyway with Cream on the scene I suppose letters like ours are the least of CMP's problems! Cheers!:thumb:

It's cheered me up a bit to hear that they didn't make any money out of the event, but what a scandal that the Liverpudlian taxpayer has to pick up the bill.

Time has not been a healer on this one - those arseholes fucked up a very expensive night out for lots of people and their pissy response just does not cut it.

As I said at the time, if CMP promote this event again I am going to join every one of the fan sites I can find for bands that are appearing and tell them what a shitty set-up they have.

My only regret is that we didn't kick off with those knobheads. It would have been a laugh to start a riot and satisfying to hammer a couple of those bullies (even if it was on the way down).

I was VERY close at one point, let me tell you.

A big fat twat with a black jacket put someone in an armlock and marched him RIGHT past my face. A fucking great haymaker would have suited him down to the ground.

Fortunately we're in Sefton but I'm sure one way or the other we will get shafted for it. I believe little Jimmy Barton is still in talks...

There may be some poetic justice for the NOOLers who got treated like s***e by the security scum at the Summer Pops. Basically Liverpool City Council have concerns over the subsidies given to the event and as a consequence they've recommended that this years event is cancelled. Can't believe that the taxpayers have had to foot the bill where there's already decent enough venues this could have been held at.And there'd be probably places where it's not all bloody seating. Still it made for an entertaining gig, though probably not for the Rocket(Mick that is,not the pub on the end of the M62!) As for the bullies,I'd have brought Jade Goody with me,she'd have sorted them out. :viking:

What about the 'non NOOLers' who got treated like shit? NO poetic justice for them just because they dont post on a website.

That's a fair point Liam. Everyone - whether at the NO gig or another one who may have been treated like s***e by the Summer Pops Bouncers deserve some justice for their treatment by those boneheads, the most heavy handed I'd seen at a gig for a long time. Still lets all have a laugh:abovelol: at CMP Entertainment who had the plug pulled on what was a profitable event 3-4 years ago and through laziness ended up landing Liverpool CC with a loss making shambles. Cheers!:thumb:

Yep it's been moved to Aintree Racecourse. OMD are playing and Amy Winehouse if she fuckin' bothers to turn up. Hope she changes her clothes first mind or she'll give the local canal some competition in whiff stakes.
