I've been to Ruby Skye in San Franciso. Great club. But the Revolution Lounge in Vegas?!!! It's tiny and is more of a late night bar than a club. And it's got a cheesy Beatles theme!

You've heard Hooky DJ right? He'd go down like a lead balloon in a rock club. You could count the amount of guitar based tracks he plays on one hand. Like it or not his sets are better suited to more dance orientated or even commercial venues. Even then though, I've seen him completely misjudge the crowd and the vibe.
What sort of numbers would he pull to Ruby Skye? Not including the folk who go their regardless of who's playing. I'm sure I've read feedback on these forums about some of his North American dates being less than well attended. Yet he keeps getting the bookings in....

I can tell you about the last Toronto situation..he was supposed to play big club called This Is London which is owned by this guy who owns several clubs in Toronto..
I can't recall the reason but there was a change of venue to the fancy Ultra Supper club which is also owned by the same guy..
Now Hooky is playing Ultra Supper Club again..Why?
Because the owner of those clubs outbids all the cool small clubs and has an exclusivity clause in the contract which stipulates that djs CANNOT play outside of any of his clubs in Toronto

Hey everyone. I found this news of a tour so good I just had to join _. Coincidently, I'll be in San Francisco Thursday night to catch the new Nick Cave band Grinderman and the American Music Hall. Lo and behold the next night Peter Hook is DJing up there too! I'll probably be in attendance of this show, if not, then I'll attend the L.A. one which is closer to home.
And do that guy bad mouthing the crowds at these deals, well, I have to agree. I'm 22, so I should fit right in with the folks he's talking about, but I really can't stand the, for lack of a better word, kids who come to these events and don't care about the music. They come to get stoned, drunk, or both and fuck anything with the opposite genitals on the dance floor. Sad, really.

Hey Vinny, welcome.
I've been to one of Hooky's DJ gigs and he has spun New Order stuff.. the usual BIG hits, some in remixed form and even some remixed and covered Joy Division tracks. Off the top of my head, I'd say 20% of the tracks are NO/JD.
Hotel rooms are generally pretty expensive for S.F. so I don't have any good recommendations unfortunately, but maybe check the neighboring city of Daly City & San Bruno (south S.F.) for some cheaper rates and availability, perhaps even by SFO airport if your current hotel can't accomodate you for one more night. If you had to sleep in the car though- my only suggestion is maybe to park your car in a parking structure vs. out on the street for safety.
Thanks for the welcome, AMC. I'll see if I can net another night at the hotel, but I doubt I can get the rate I was paying before. I booked it three weeks in advance and it was only $30 a night.
Just in case any of you were intending on going to see Hooky at Shadow Bar in Houston on Wednesday, he is not going to be there.
