Horrible night - we all knew it was over. I had to move heaven and earth to get there - horrible train ride from Manc standing at the buffet drinking red wine out of the bottle. Can't remember anything about the hotel apart from the fact that I smashed my head on the ceiling when I was getting ready.

I ended up getting drunk at the bar with Al; I couldn't even bring myself to watch the gig. Then someone came over and said "look at you, you've managed to find a seat at the bar where you can still watch Hooky!" He was right, but I hadn't even noticed!

Hangover from hell and the worst taxi driver in the world in the morning just about put the lid on it. What a horrible, horrible night.

Goodbye New Order!

Took me ages to get a bloody drink that night - ended up getting two glasses with six shots of Jack Daniels in each (not both for me sadly - took a mate to see his first (and last) New Order gig...).

Feel a bit cheeky for asking Mike, but any chance you could send me a copy of the gig? Happy to reimburse costs etc/send you something from my list...

Cheers, Pash.

We were all at the bar, weren't we?!

Just remember Higgy saying he had thirty proper lads with him in the pub beforehand and all you could see at one end was fcuking 'orrible huge boneheads in SI. And the fcuking toilets were down that end - was liking walking into the dragon's den with a load of dead-eye stares on you!! :eek3:

I don't remember any problems walking into the toilets - and I was in there every 5 minutes :skeptic:

You jest! I remember Gary kept going there was a whole firm at one end the bar!

Your right Al - tension alright, there was a few Villa heads sussing 'others', think i kept me eyes more on the locals than the final (?) brit show. Did improve somewhat slightly when we hudled other side of the wall, hidden from the bar. Think i only ventured down 'the pit' for Ceremony to say 'now-then' to Fradders n Diggy

Really don't remember any tension in the air.

Was far too concerned with necking double gin & tonic's quicker than Eimear could buy them

There may well have been a few of our 'lads' around, the Order were a very popular band amongst us. The Zulus were into UB40

Higgy's a Midland ManYoo boy. :nonono:

But he had some proper lads with him, from Midland clubs.

Crikey!! I remember Al telling/warning me about said 'firm' early on but must have been too pissed to notice anything hostile.

Didn't realise me and Mike were risking our proverbials down the front....

I had a great time, BTW, completely unaware that this was gonna be their last (UK) hurrah....

We were talking about this last night. I was completely oblivious to any collective presence at the other end of that bar!

I keep seeing mention that everyone knew it was all over after this gig. What gave that impression?

So would anyone like to give me a clue where I could find this gig to download. Have searched for months now with no luck. Cheers Dick

Musically a good gig- but the crowd were absolutely shite. Remember being at the front and glancing around a few times - especially to the seats at the top. No-one was dancing- not even head tapping. It wa slike having 1000 Waldorf and Stadtlers in the crowd.

There was a few Manc boys in - but the crews were both Utd and City. Didn't notice anything too moody though.

The Yates we all went in was shit however!:nonono:
