Liam, think before you type!

How on earth is Interpol in Manchester on a Tuesday possibly 'shaping up to the gig of the year'!

What have I missed? :skeptic:

You've got to love Liam's enthusiasm, but he don't half talk some shite!!

Didn't he say the other day that Editors at Summercase last year were "class" or somesuch?? When, in truth, they were fucking embarassing - they looked and sounded like the muppets. Only not as good.

Interpol are one of those band that have quite impressively passed me by.

Worth checking out ... or?

First album is pretty good; law of diminishing returns kicks in with frightening pace thereafter.

IMHO, natch.

Where've you been living?!

First two albums are quality, but patchy, but I just didn't get the third whatsoever. They're excellent when they get up a head of steam but they've also got way too many longueurs in their back catalogue, which can make their live shows drag a bit. I really don't like bands when they take their foot off the pedal.

Too many slow ones in the live set, but a good band nonetheless.

Scotland, mostly, which I think explains a lot.

Interpol never made it to the wee provinces (along with 90% of the other musak I listen to).

Ta for the replies... I'll set uTorrent to "Interpol" this evening.

Let us know if they're any good - I did go to a gig of theirs last year, but it went in one ear and out the other!

Ladytron are the support for this gig and the next night in Sheffield. Manchester is sold out but prices going down daily on ebay and loads of tickets left for Sheffield.

I really can't afford it but suppose would get 2 gigs for the price of 1. If they're cheap enough on Ebay I'm in.

Got a mail off the Gordmeister in Turkey.

He implied he would be wanking himself silly, over the prospect of Ladytron supporting Interpol.

YESS! My mate Steve's got 2 tickets on E-BAY...erm..for a staggering £30 .AH THANK-YOU:shades: Can't believe Ladytron's supporting them.Mind you they do share a little history. Ladytron's remixed Interpol, and Interpol did a remix of Blue Jeans.

Interpol and Ladytron became close when they hit the festival circuit at the same time in 2003. Their tours overlapped left, right and centre.

Back in the summer of 2003 I was with Gordie and ATR in Cologne, for a Ladytron show. ATR discovered that Interpol were playing in Cologne the same night, supporting Asian Dub Foundation. As only ATR could, he persuaded Ladytron to put back their stage time by half an hour so we could take the Interpol gig in too. Then when we found out the Interpol gig was sold out, ATR asked Ladytron to get us on the guestlist!. Don't want much ATR, do you?!

Erm......Interpol's first ever release, 'PDA', was actually put out by Glasgow independent label Chemikal Underground. The label owned by The Delgados (RIP).

Anyone bothering with this I'll be in my usual drinking spot from about 1pm.

See you there then. Anyone got a floor I can borrow for the night, or am I gonna have to book a hotel?

Ask Alex.

Anyone got spare Sheff ticket? Might as well tag along seeing as I am gonna be up in Manc for the Tues gig.

I believe the ticket agency has several hundred!

Just pay on the door or a tout. Some geeks on the Interpol board are flogging some, but iof you're meeting me in The Lass in 26 hours its questionable as to how your going to get hold of them.

Speaking of which, if you're staying around, sadly, you cant count on me for all day drinking on Wednesday. I have to go visiting my Grandparents, but should be back in town for 4pm. I think I'm getting a lift down to Sheffield...

Fucking great gig,all the more better for getting upfront this time, which you couldn't at Blackpool.PIONEER TO THE FALLS is just the perfect opener, and absolutely delighted that they played NYC this time, which they didn't in Blackpool. Big hello to Jemmie,Liam,Alex and TIM! Good meeting youz. Sorry I couldn't come back to Apsley, brassic!:(

...oh and not only were INTERPOL amazing, but to have LADYTRON supporting too? Surreal and a treat all at once!

My Review can be found on this link

Sheffield was better. Sound was clearer, they did Obstacle 2 to finish with and the crowd was mental.

Still, cracking couple of gigs. And this time next week it'll all be over...

he manages to do the review with no mention of vomit or spanking
