Is anyone going to/ up for Electric picnic this year? I noticed today BL are now on the list, but i've had my eye on this for several weeks as there are some other bands I would like to see.

Have I told the one about Wolfram and JG facking off and leaving me and Leggy - absolutely wasted - in the middle of a field in Oireland, SIXTY miles away from our hotel!

I think it pissed down as well when we went. Like properly pissed down.

That's an interesting interpretation of events 
We then gatecrashed a Wedding reception and hoovered up the remains of the buffet which nearly resulted in us coming unstuck

The truth is out there - somewhere.
So, who's coming over? I'm not even sure I'll go this time - no one-day tickets makes this one hugely expensive for me - might just have to meet up with a bunch of you & get properly pissed instead

Ah yeah. I posted this up before news of your engagement broke - just seen the mention in the facebook group, so think we're all knocking this on the head.

Meanwhile, former Joy Division and New Order members Bernard Sumner and Stephen Morris bought their new band Bad Lieutenant to the festival, and delighted the crowd by playing a host of tracks from across their careers including ‘Regret’, ‘Temptation’, ‘Love Will Tear Us Apart’ and ‘Ceremony’.
Despite the Electric Arena not being close to capacity when the band started their set, Sumner was in jubilant mood throughout. At one point, while drinking a glass of rose which he referred to as “red Guinness”, Sumner joked that the band’s equipment seemed to be failing, adding that some pieces didn’t even appear to be plugged in.
“Can we fix that? What use is bringing it from Manchester if it’s not plugged in?,” he said, adding light-heartedly: “Do you know, you just can’t get the staff these days. And you can’t get the audience either by the looks of it!”

There were good notices for Bad Lieutenant, the band set up by Bernard Sumner, who delighted the crowd playing a set full of old Joy Division and New Order songs, finishing with Love Will Tear Us Apart

This Is Home, Regret, Ceremony, Sink or Swim, BLT, Shine Like The Sun, Tighten Up, Twist of Fate, Out of Control, Temptation and LWTUA.
Started off a bit quietly, tent wasn't full at the beginning but plenty came in during the set. By the end there was a great vibe and the place went nuts to Temptation and LWTUA. One bloke near us was crying during LWTUA!
Shame about the ticketing. Not attractive for anyone just wanting to go for Bad Loot. There were no 1 day tickets available, just 240 Euro 3 dayers, don't know of any English festivals charging that much. I didn't see many folk wandering around in BL/NO/JD T-shirts like you usually get at most festivals where they're playing and biggest shame was not meeting up with any of the Irish Order. Was mainly a 20 something crowd, but a great line up with LCD, Hot Chip, Crystal Castles, Leftfield and the legendary Gil Scott Heron all playing on the Satdy.
Other point of interest for these boards was Hooky's involvement in a discussion on whether the music industry is fuct. Howard Marks, Simon Napier Bell (ex Wham manager) and B P Fallon (music photographer) were also on it. Took place in a small marquee with about 100 punters watching. More entertainment in it than the Freebass album and main point Hooky made was - he's not going to make another album because it takes too much time and money for then noone to buy it which I took that with a pinch of salt. Some wag asked him if he was going to be guesting with BL later on!!, I'll let you all guess his response

And well done to the lad in the Technique US '89 tour T-Shirt and Parka who spent 5 minutes asking a question with more tangents than a Peter Savill talk, getting barracked by the audience, taking a hug from Hooky half way through and then eventually getting to the point which was - has Hooky ever met David Hasselhoff (sp) and what was it like
When it was 3.30am and me and Norbert were waiting at a bus stop in the middle of nowhere, for a coach due at 4.30, I did wonder why the fcuk I'd gone to this but great day out and who knows when the next BL gig will come around.
When was the last time all one-time members of New Order were in the same place?
Well, Saturday afternoon as it goes.
While Hooky was participating in the music biz debate, Bernard, Steve, Phil and Gillian were back stage at the Electric Arena tent, just a 100 yards away. Gillian was sat by the drum kit for about half an hour as techs and road crew ran about the stage setting everything up (apart from the fan!) and Steve was checking the drum sound.
I'd be lying if I didn't admit to hoping Gillian might guest with BL briefly for say, the keys on BLT, but alas, no such luck.
Still, Gillian looked well and it was great to see her make a rare public appearance.

I wonder why Gillian never "guests" with BL or New Order..like when NO played Regret at a big UK awards ceremony a few years back, Gillian accepted the award with them but didn't perform....and I'm surprised that she's never come out and guested on BLT, I'm sure she remembers how to play it. I can only conclude it's because she doesn't want to?
Again...I wish BL would drop DLTS and put PI back in the set!
