Like many punters I was a bit underwhelmed by the ep and iabl when i first heard them. I went to the gig hoping it would bring some more life to some of the tunes and truthfully it did. Gary isnt a dominant stage presence but is a good singer live a bit reminiscent of the rock dwarf from the stereophonics but without the gravelly bit!! Given that it is a million years since i've seen the roses i had forgotten just what a great bass player mani is even though he now looks a bit like a spitting image puppet of himself with the rubbery features.
Hooky was on top form and the band were tight. they played most of iabl and a couple of tunes i didnt recognise ( covers?) Sadly nothing off the EP. The songs sound more meaty and suit having the bass(es!) turned up.Lets hope they release them as live versions at some point in the future. Drummer was good but wheres Lead foot? and whats the score with Andy Rourke?

As ever the main gripe with the factory is that the stage is too low even at the front you can barely see the guitar work of the players. Upon leaving lots of the punters were expressing similar opinions as to how the gig had really brought on the music for them. If you are going to the other gigs you'll enjoy them !
