Watched the DVD again this evening with a beer, what a great show. Why do the 2006 shows get so much stick? Arguably the best version of "Temptation" I've ever heard? The crowd are great as well [as always at the Glasgow shows]

cos i think, we knew it was the end, after a piss poor album. Attendances were very poor, apart from the Scottish and Blackpool shows, and the set lists were automated with a lack of randomness common in the eighties and nineties. The use of heavy sequencers/backing tracks may produce great sound, but CD quality reproductions is something the diehard NO fans have never been used to.

It's a matter of opinion. I saw them in Chicago in 2005 and they were fucking brilliant. My friend Farrell, saw saw NO numerous times in the 80's (first being Detroit 83), said it was the best New Order show he had been to.
I think the Glasgow DVD was brilliant, clearly a great show was captured. NO were brilliant at the Vio Rio fest show as well.
As for the heavily sequenced tracks, I think all of th tracks from the 05-06 tour sounded great live, and they did some of the best live versions of Blue Monday ever.
And for the record, I thought WFTSC was better than Get ready, Republic, and Brotherhood by a country mile.
I prefer Get Ready to WFTSC and Brotherhood, though I wouldnt class WFTSC as piss poor, some tracks on there remind me of Technique.
I think what lets it down for most people is apart from maybe Guilt, there isn't many energetic tracks on there you can rock out to. There is no "Crystal" on there that's for sure.
Anyway I digress..!

perhaps i put them off at the Bournemouth and Wembley shows which were way short of full. B'mouth was an absolute disaster.

Bournemouth was, yeah, but the other dates were quality - I particularly remember Newcastle, the two Glasgow shows and Blackpool! :)

Not that i remember too much of it.
I only did the Glasgow dates on that tour and they were both pretty much sold out as I recall. Decent gigs but not a patch on the two dates in 2001 at the Barrowlands. But that's mainly to do with my dislike of the Academy and the fact that the Barras can't be beaten as a venue.

Initial copies of the DVD (for sale in HMV anyway) came with a CD of the gig...
