As rarely as anything ever happens down in my neck o' the woods, this fcking figures. September 8: Charlatans in Chapel Hill, or the Pixies in Charlotte. Pixies in an auditorium, Charlatans in a club. Charlotte's closer, but I could wear my vikings badges to the Charlatans.

What's a girl to do?

Charlatans. Doing it for more love than I think the Pixies are at this stage. Last album You Cross My Path was superb: "Oh Vanity" an homage to "Sirens" title track.

Have fun:shades:

Just out of interest, is there some kind of law in Charlotte prohibiting the wearing of Viking badges to Pixies gigs?

Gotta be the Pixies, the times i've seen them were prob the best gigs of my life. Charlatans, although good, are in a different league.

Tough one this- but in terms of live performance the Charlatans are one of the best around. Saw the Pixies on their comeback tour in Manchester and they were good, but the Charlatans never let you down live.

Was leaning towards the Charlatans, but I just found out the Pixies are playing two dates so I can see them both. Usually my gig luck runs in the opposite direction. Now I've just got to get a couple of days off work if the plan is to come together.

Where's your sense of fairness?

I once saw Interpol six times in seven days. Go figure.

Gee, I didn't know Interpol played so many dates in Haiti! It is a lovely place, I hear. But if the Charlatans want to come all the way across the pond, it's the least I can do. :)

Is it Pixies doing Doolittle and Charlatans doing Some Friendly?

Do they do that kinda thing in the US or is it just us poor schmucks on this side of the pond who are now inundated with the rather crap concept of the 'seminal-album' gig?

Pixies, defo, I just don't get the Charlatans but I wouldn't bother with Pixies either if it was just Doolittle and fack all else.

Yup, it's just the Doolittle tour - album and b-sides only...

Album played in order, b-sides either side of the album...

Oh, best avoided then. I thought that was shit.

After the London gigs Sunj then went and saw the exact same thing in France, Holland and Belgium and ended up hating every minute of them!

Still, probably seemed like a good idea at the time.

Here's the Charlatans at Wickerman. If you listen carefully you can hear GlasVegas singing along.
